As Mega Blastoise takes over the RU tier, unused answers to it such as Florges and Articuno are finding their niche in the metagame. Although it has a crippling weakness to Stealth Rock, reliable Defog support from the likes of Gligar gives it opportunity against unprepared teams. A great typing also gives it a good matchup against the best type in the metagame, Grass. It beats the best two Grass-types, Roserade (lacking Sleep Powder) and Shaymin, which have adapted to nearly every answer the tier can come up by virtue of extremely wide and customizable movepools. The Speed EVs give it insurance against all of Taunt Toxic Mandibuzz, Barbaracle, Cresselia, and, obviously, Mega Blastoise. Defog can be used over Toxic for role compression, but it struggles heavily against the most Stealth Rock setters, Mega Steelix and Registeel, as it can only hope to chip Mega Steelix over time and flat out loses to Registeel unless some Seismic Toss PP has been used.
