BATTLE NAME: Double the pain, double the fun.

Disqualification: 2 Day DQ / 3 Day Ref DQ (doubles are harder)
Switch Rules: OK
Item Rules: On
Ability Rules: All
Arena: ASB Tournament Arena

Weird how we never had doubles HLM, don't you think?

Considering the heavyweights we've got this time around, I believe this music would be appropriate here.

In the red corner, we have ASB's Grass gym leader and co-winner of the Tag Team Tournament, Pwnemon! I personally have him to thank for showing me just how much of a pain in the ass Sableye can be. I imagine Pwnemon will be bringing his one along to this battle. Let's see ...

Nature: Jolly (15% increase to speed, 1 stage decrease to SpA, 14% flat acc boost to attacks)
Type: Dark/Water
Dark: Dark STAB; Immunity to all telepathic and telekinetic attacks, better performance in all darkened and especially twilight conditions. Can use any Dark-type attack regardless of Attraction.

(Sableye) Nelson (M)

Types: Ghost/Dark
Ghost: Ghost STAB; brief intangibility that nullifies Normal and Fighting-type attacks. Can move through walls for a brief period of time but must remain in motion. Superior senses in low light and inside dark buildings. Have no vision reduction in hazes.
Dark: Dark STAB; immunity to all telepathic and telekinetic attacks, better performance in all darkened and especially twilight conditions. Can use any Dark-type attack regardless of Attraction.

Keen Eye: (Innate) This Pokemon has extremely good vision and cannot have its accuracy lowered by an opponent through any means (including accuracy lowering attacks, Smogs, Hazes, Fog, etc.). Its attacks are still affected by an opponent’s evasion and the Pokemon's own accuracy.
Stall: (Innate) This Pokemon has a watchful eye and immense patience. It can be ordered to attack last on any action regardless of ordinary attack priority. If an opponent orders their Pokemon to attack after Sableye, that attack will fail. Against another Sableye, the trainer who issues attacks first has precedence and the opponent's attack will fail.
Prankster: (Innate) The Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging attacks an increase in priority level.

(Cyclohm) Doug (M)

Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)

Type: Electric/Dragon
Electric: Electric STAB; 50% reduction in paralysis chance from other electrical attacks, perfect accuracy and 30% chance of Protect breaking Thunder during Rain. Superior senses in power plant environments.
Dragon: Dragon STAB; more in touch with legendary or special auras in arenas. Able to use Thrash without losing focus.

Abilities:
Shield Dust:
(Innate) This pokemon has dust covering the outside of its body that prevents opponents secondary effects from taking place (eg burn from Flamethrower). It does not block direct status moves (such as Thunder Wave.)
Static: (Innate) This pokemon’s body is surrounded by an electric field that has a 30% chance of paralyzing opponents that use contact moves on this pokemon.
Overcoat (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon has a sturdy exterior that rebuffs the elements, making it immune to damage inflicted by bad weather. If the Pokemon is already immune to at least one (1) kind of weather by typing or a different ability, Overcoat reduces the Base Attack Power of all oncoming attacks by one (1).

And in the blue corner, we have ASB's on-again, off-again Dark gym leader and creator of multiple roleplays in ASB, including the Battle Pike, LouisCyphre! If Lou can take a bullet and live to ASB another day, I don't know what it'll take to knock him out for good! Let's see what he's bringing to this battle ...

454.gif

Toxicroak ♂ - Mizar
Nature: Naughty (Atk: +1, SpD: -1)
Type: Poison / Fighting
Poison Type - Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.
Fighting Type - Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions of throwing/grappling moves. Superior reaction time in close quarters.

Abilities:
Anticipation - (Passive) This Pokemon is better at sensing dangerous attacks, and reduced the Base Attack Power from super-effective attacks, Selfdestruct, and Explosion by two (2).
Dry Skin - (Passive) This Pokemon has spongy, yet sensitive skin, causing it to burn in bright sunlight for damage but absorb water and heal damaged tissues in rain. This effect results in dealing two (2) damage/action to this Pokemon in sunlight and recovering two (2) HP/action in rain. In addition, the dry skin is very vulnerable to flames and the Base Attack Power of incoming Fire attacks is increased by two (2). The Pokemon absorbs the damage of water attacks and recovers 25% of HP the damage that would have been inflicted.
(DW) Poison Touch - (Toggle) By default, this Pokemon's body is covered with a film of poison. Whenever it hits an opponent with a contact attack, that opponent has a 30% chance of being Poisoned. When toggled, this Pokemon's natural toxins are more potent. As a result, all of this Pokemon's attacks that inflict regular poison will inflict Toxic poison instead (with the same chance of effect).

Water Type - Water STAB; Can breathe and have excellent mobility when underwater, are less capable on land unless they are entirely amphibious.
Dragon Type - Dragon STAB; More in touch with legendary or special auras in arenas. Able to use Hyper Beam and Giga Impact without losing focus.

Abilities:
Swift Swim - (Passive) The Pokemon with this ability moves extremely fast in slick, rainy conditions, doubling (x2) its Speed in the rain.
Sniper - (Passive) This Pokemon has deadly accuracy and strikes sensitive points, increasing its critical hit bonus from +3 to +5 on single attacks, +2 to +3 on two-hit attacks, and +1 to +2 on multi-hit attacks.
(DW) Damp - (Passive) This Pokemon releases a damp mist upon entry into battle that short circuits the opponent’s ability to use Selfdestruct or Explosion.

Having survived a lot of punishment and hard battles to get to this point, Byne has learned fully the value of teammates. To this end, he has started to focus on support strategies instead of offense. He's already got offense all figured out, you see. He's still not the social type, but proximity with others is no longer an issue.

Tomohawk ♀ - Pumyra
Nature: Modest (SpA: +1, Atk: -1)
Type: Flying / Fighting
Flying Type - Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks outside extremely odd circumstances even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.
Fighting Type - Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions of throwing/grappling moves. Superior reaction time in close quarters.

Abilities:
Intimidate - (Trigger) When this Pokemon initially goes out into the battlefield, it generates an intimidating roar or war cry that shakes all opponents on the battlefield, reducing their Attack stage by one (1). The attack drop is maintained at the end of each round. If an opponent switches in a new Pokemon, Intimidate can be activated again as a Command, and will affect all opponents. Command: Activate Intimidate
Prankster
- (Passive) The Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging attacks a +1 increase in priority level.
(DW) Justified - (Passive) This Pokemon's body reacts to dark energy, invigorating its passions. When hit by a Dark-type move, the Pokemon's attack will increase one (1) stage. A boost gained this way by another Pokemon's attack will be maintained at the end of each round. Self-targeted attacks do not maintain boosts.

Finding reprieve in the necessities, Pumyra prefers to live simply and honestly. The falliables of others are of little weight on her mind; one day leads into the next eventually, but not right now. In battle, Pumyra takes her time and etches her advantages to last - no point in anything that doesn't last longer than it takes to create.

Carefree and adventurous, Huxley wanders as she pleases without regard of the possible dangers. Oft scolded, but never daunted, Huxley has yet to befall serious harm from her exploration.

Now, to decide who is going to send out first, I am going to flip a standard issue virtual coin. Heads = Pwnemon sends out first. Tails = LouisCyphre sends out first.

GAAAAAAAAH! How the hell does the standard issue virtual coin land on its edge? That's it, I'm swapping it for a pound coin from my own country! Heads = Pwnemon sends out first. Tails = LouisCyphre sends out first.

There we go.

  • LouisCyphre chooses his first two Pokemon
  • Pwnemon chooses his first two Pokemon and orders
  • LouisCyphre orders

Alright, alright. We'll finally get this out of the way. I don't foresee an easy match for either of us. Why don't we start this one off the interesting way?

Pumyra @ Expert Belt
MolluxFrontAni.gif

Huxley @ Mental Herb with Illuminate ON

Sableye @ Everstone and Cyclohm @ Expert Belt, you're up for now!

Cyclohm: Thunderbolt Tomohawk ~ Electroweb ~ Thunderbolt Tomohawk
IF Tomohawk is the target of a Protective/Evasive move AND it was used before you acted AND mollux is not the target of a Protective/Evasive move then use Power Gem Mollux that action (takes priority)
IF Tomohawk is in the damaging evasive stage of a move when you act AND you are still on the ground then use Gust Tomohawk that action

Sableye: Icy Wind (Stall) ~ Zen Headbutt Tomohawk (Stall) ~ Aerial Ace Tomohawk (Stall)
IF Mollux uses Light Screen and tomohawk does not use protect (mollux) that action then use Brick Break (Stall) Mollux that action (takes priority)
IF Tomohawk uses Roost and you are not Taunted then use Snatch that action

I'm sorry for going over DQ like this but holy FUCK that's a hard pair to order against

Does that mean we get to do this the fun way? I hope it does!

So it would appear that Pwnemon is starting this battle with Nelson the Sableye and Doug the Cyclohm in response to LouisCyphre's decision to lead with Pumyra the Tomohawk and Huxley the Mollux. Immediately Huxley turns on her lava lamp shell, illuminating the battlefield for everyone. Pumyra, meanwhile, roars to intimidate her opponents. And then Team Pwnemon begins to put its plan into action.

Doug zaps Pumyra with a Thunderbolt while Nelson blows an Icy Wind over the opponents. This is followed up with an Electroweb from the Cyclohm, and now Pumyra and Huxley are much slower to react than normal. Nelson continues the assault with a Zen Headbutt to Pumyra's chest, although the Tomohawk was clearly expecting something a little more powerful from her opponent.

While this is going on, however, Pumyra is Air Slashing the Sableye to knock it off balance and Huxley's shell is Erupting all over her opponents. The Mollux's strong vitality reserves really come through in these eruptions. Although Team Pwnemon's assault severely weakens Pumyra and Doug gets in another Thunderbolt on her, the combined powers of Pumyra's Air Slashes and Huxley's Eruptions are just too much for Nelson, and Huxley scores the first KO for Team LouisCyphre.

With one Pokemon knocked out, newcomers to ASB could be forgiven for thinking Pwnemon is screwed, but I know from experience that the momentum of a doubles match can vary wildly. However, he must now choose a replacement for his fallen Sableye.

Alright, let's take this lead and run with it! Put the pressure on!

454.gif

You two! Keep him on his twos!

Byne @ Dragon Scale

Mizar @ Shuca Berry

i figured you'd go for that but i'm not about to let a second order slip away, so no counterswitch

LouAnnoyed.png

No matter what, we'll be taking a big setback. Better to stick it with the largest price tag we can muster!

230.gif

Byne - Surf | Surf | Surf
If Sid is under a protective move without transfer, Dragon Pulse Doug.

454.gif

Toggle Poison Touch (Toxic effect on, contact effect off.)

Mizar - Low Kick (Sid) | Low Kick (Sid) | Low Kick (Sid)
First, upon Sid's order to start a damaging evasive move, Pursuit him that action.
If Sid is under a protective move without transfer, Cross Chop Doug.

I just noticed, objection, that you didn't adjust Eruption's BAP in actions 2 or 3 of the previous round to 15*89/100, which should leave ohm with marginally more hp, though it still KOes sableye.

Colossoil: Dig Kingdra ~ Dig Kingdra ~ Bounce Toxicroak

Cyclohm: Dragon Pulse Kingdra ~ Draco Meteor Kingdra ~ Dragon Pulse Kingdra

Flavour

Now that Lou's ladies have done their job, he decides it is time to send in his other two pokemon, Byne the Kingdra and Mizar the Toxicroak. Pwnemon, meanwhile, replaces his fallen pokemon with Sid the Colossoil. This prompts Mizar to toggle Poison Touch off so that the toxins move from the outside of his body to the inside. And then, seeing what his opponents plan to do to him, Sid Digs out of harm's way. However, Mizar is in hot Pursuit and catches up to him, although he doesn't do much damage to his fleeing opponent. Byne hops into the water and summons a huge wave that he Surfs on. The wave washes harmlessly over Sid and Mizar's skin absorbs the water, but Doug takes a little bit of damage from the wave. The Cyclohm retaliates with a Dragon Pulse that sends Byne flying, and then Sid leaps out from underground and jabs Byne on the Kingdra's way down.

The battle continues in a similar fashion in the next action, but Doug chooses to use a more powerful manoeuvre. Roaring loudly, he summons a huge Draco Meteor that slams into Byne, dealing heavy damage to the Kingdra. The attack leaves Doug feeling weakened, but the combined attacks of Sid and Doug have left Byne severely wounded. Sensing this, Sid changes his angle of attack in the final action of this round and Bounces up into the sky. Once more, Byne summons a wave of water to Surf on and does a little damage to Doug, while Mizar's hot Pursuit allows him to land a small blow on Sid. Then Doug unleashes another Dragon Pulse and, although it is weaker than the first one, it is strong enough to knock Byne out. And then Sid belly flops right on top of Mizar, leaving the Toxicroak pinned and immobile! Even after the Colossoil gets off of him, Mizar seems to have trouble moving.

Both sides are one pokemon down now. LouisCyphre must choose which of his ladies should replace the fallen Byne, and then we shall see who gets the upper hand in round 3.

IF Tomohawk is KOed then alternate Flare Blitz Toxicroak and Heat Wave Toxicroak

LouisCyphre, I know you've been busy with the NDA and all, but now that gen 6 has been implemented, I think we really need to get this shit finished up, so I'm going to give you the same warning Frosty gave Pwnemon earlier: you have 72 hours to post your orders before we scrap this battle and redo it with other players.
