Hello, and welcome to another team. This time I use a core of Assault Vest Magnezone and Volcarona.
FailureGirl came up with the core idea, and I thought it sounded pretty interesting so I decided to make a team around it.
One of Volcaronas best counters, and arguably the only counter is Heatran, sets depend of course. Magnezone with an assault vest is interesting as it gives it bulk to live a hit from Heatran, then kill it with mirror coat. Its also not very common so its a good Heatran bait, and cause of Magnet Pull, Heatran can't switch out. I gave it the spdef evs to live Magma Storm or Earth power from heatran. (Can't live Specs, fire in sun, or fire blast) but it gives it special bulk to become a solid check to thing like Tapu Lele or Dragapult).
Proof of 1800+
This is not quite the peak, but I have a screenshot of me being in above 1800 elo.
TEAMBUILDING PROCESS:
Weavile was my first of the remaining 4, as it has great speed, Knock Off, and benefits from Magnezone aswell. Its also very splashable and is one of the best mons in current OU.
Tapu Fini is an amazing mon currently, and goes well with the team, as Weavile and Volcarona hate taking Status. I use the Whirlpool trap set, as it helps beat things like Buzzwole, Toxapex, Blissey, and other walls for the team. Its also the Weavile and Urshifu check for the team, so I gave it phys def evs.
Mr OU himself. I put the basic spdef Landorus on the team, because its very splashable, and helps check a lot of pokemon, like Zeraora, Magnezone and Tapu Koko. It sets rocks, Toxic for status, its pretty self explanatory. I removed 4 spdef evs so it would have the evs to outspeed specs Aegislash and Specs Magnezone
Tornadus Therian is the last mon, and it helps deal with mons like Rillaboom, and Kartana. You can choose between Taunt and Defog after your main 3, depending on if you need hazard clearal, or you can run an assault vest varrant, but with the sacrifice of taking rock damage without hazard removal.
Threats:
Main threats to this team, are Volcarona, Blacephalon, and Bisharp. The team dosen't have a clear switch in to Blacephalon. Tapu Fini can come in on Flamethrower but its limited and it takes a lot from shadow ball. The team has no Bisharp Switch in, and its difficult, you have to mostly play around it, killing it with tapu fini, or Volc. Volcarona is a big issue for this team. You don't have an answer once its setup. Your main way of beating it is probably gonna have to be statusing it with Landorus. While these pokemon are threats, there are still ways to win against them, its just more difficult.
Extra Notes:
You can run Bug Buzz or Psychic on Volc depending on your preference.
Bug buzz helps with Tyranitar and Garchomp,
While Psychic helps hit Fini and Dnite for Neutral, and nuking Urshifu and Toxapex.
