This is a team that I based around Meloetta - I feel that she's UU mostly because she's so hard to put in a team. So I tried to make a legitimate OU ladder team with her in mind, though I'm 99% sure I failed somewhere. (and no, having 3 psychics doesn't fall under that category.)
Meloetta @ Expert Belt
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 64 Atk / 252 SAtk / 192 Spd
Naive Nature
- Relic Song
- Hyper Voice
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
I know what you're thinking: No Life Orb, and No Thunder, plz no. Here's my explanations:
1.) Meloetta just doesn't seem to be the type to give its life force for stronger attacks, and Expert Belt, to me, was the next-best option, though I might be wrong on that.
2.) First, Meloetta uses Hyper Song in the anime. Second, I think that the 30 damage I'm losing out on will not be missed due to HS being a STAB, and that the extra 20% accuracy is better then the coverage that Thunder gives (RNGsus hates me - I'll miss three times in a row, and never paralyze - and Thunder never liked to be super-effective. I suspect that that's due to my not memorizing resistances/weaknesses, though. Not to mention, this isn't a rain team).
Other then those, she's a standard Mixed Relic set, pretty standard. Or maybe I should switch Ice Punch out with something?
Kyurem-Black @ Choice Band
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Fusion Bolt
- Iron Head
Not only is this guy a behemoth in terms of raw damage, he also has decent coverage, as well as much-needed wall-breaking potential that Meloetta doesn't have. And if the going gets tough for him, he just needs to switch out.
Deoxys-Defense @ Red Card
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Body Slam
Imo the BEST hazard setter in OU atm. Hazards are awesome for Meloetta, as she procs scores of switches, and the damage will pile up. Taunt is for an optional opening if needed, while RNGsus likes my Body Slam - I paralyze the majority of the time. BS is also there to prevent being taunt bait. I'm still uncertain about Red Card, though.
Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Defog
- Outrage
- Roost
Defog? Latios? Bitch please. Nobody expects Defog on Latios - they expect it on Mandibuzz and Latias, but not Latios. And that's not all. Outrage is brilliant for high damage output, Draco Meteor is also awesome for securing kills/revenge killing, and to top it off, he can Roost if need be. This guy also checks Tyranitar, who's a massive problem to Meloetta. However, I don't think Draco Meteor and Outrage are good on the same set, and I'll be fine switching one out for a less all-out, short-term move.
Skarmory (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Brave Bird
- Whirlwind
- Roost
- Spikes
One of the better physical walls out there, Skarmory is not only annoying as hell, but she doesn't hit like a wet noodle, either. BB is a great move for securing kills, although it's a far cry from Talonflame PBB. Whirlwind + hazards = hell, not to mention great for ranking up damage and removing pesky set-up sweepers. As for Spikes... well, I've learned from experience that it's not every day that Deo-D gets down both SR AND three spikes. So Spikes is here to finish the job, especially if Deo-D is down, or a Defog happens. I'm pretty confident with Skarmory, except for Skarmory herself: I keep wondering if there's a better replacement for this team.
Umbreon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Heal Bell
- Protect
- Wish
- Foul Play
And last but certainly not least, here's Umbreon. After picking the other pokemon, I was left with two positions to fill: Cleric and Special Wall. That left me with Chansey, Blissey, and Umbreon to choose from. I'll be frank: The decision took only five seconds - I'm pretty biased towards Umbreon. Unlike blissey/chansey, Umbreon actually has Defense to speak of, as well as a helpful Dark-typing and a Foul Play that I work wonders with. If you think Blissey or Chansey would make a better choice, feel free to tell me so, but at least give an explanation, instead of "lol n00b Umbreon is UU always go Chansey Eviolite because that's best".
