this is my first time posting here, but hopefully it's not too horrible :p this is the first team i made for the gen, and so far is still the most consistent for me.
As always when i'm feeling a little lazy when making teams, i just start with a fire/water/grass core and see where it goes. Maybe a boring start, but tends pay off. Bear with me.
I used the crap out of this guy last gen. I've watched him tank hits from the most ridiculous things and still come out on top, so i've come to be familiar with his limits. Slowbro even got a fancy new trick in Regenerator. Even though he was picked simply because i was comfortable with him, he's pulled more than his share in almost all of my battles. More details below.
Next on my list would be the spiny little...whatever he is, Ferrothorn. From what i had seen of him at the time, he seemed like he could hold his own against most offensive threats (note this was before the usage lists and i knew he was freaking epic) His typing, hazards, and ability to sponge special hits that slowbro couldn't was very attractive in him.
Rounding off my lazy attempt at a balanced core would be the hot-blooded wolf, Arcanine. Like Slowbro, he had new gimmicks added to his arsenal that i just really wanted to try out. he also gave me a decent check against fire types that i was afraid of (Like Victini. V-create just seemed hella scary in my theorymonning) and a priority that wasn't resisted by Thundurus which i was a little more afraid of than Excadrill at the time.
From here, i wanted a revenge killer that could power through bulky mons so i wouldn't be left as setup fodder...and what better to do that than GARCHOMP? lol jk. Almost immediately after i decided to add him to my team, he's kicked from standard play. I look around and decide scarfed Landorus might make a decent replacement. he also gives me a levitator and overall a solid poke from the looks. he's in.
I still need a dragon that hits hard but also needing a good special attacker with some decent options and specs Latios fits the bill perfectly. There ya go.
Honestly, i was just getting impatient with team building, so i slapped on a sub/pain split Gengar. Good special attacker, scouter, levitator, and makes my entry hazard weakness on the team limited to Arcanine. In my mind, just less to worry about. On to playtest this badboy!
----------<insert playtesting here>-----------
Surprisingly, the team runs fairly smoothly. Several glaring problems sprang up tho, and forced my hand in changing several things.
Firstly, Latios' speed was just...underwhelming. Several threats outsped him and i needed that extra boost. I switched out Modest for Timid and changed Hp Fire for Surf. this maxed his speed and made him a little more useful in the rain.

Next, Arcanine as a whole. Stealth Rock, Life Orb recoil, and, more often than not, sandstorm tore him to pieces. his extremespeed was also quite underwhelming. I didn't want to lose my priority, and wanted another check for Excadrill aside from Slowbro. Conkeldurr seemed to take the place nicely and with max attack and guts activated, can surprisingly still take on Gliscor 1on1.
Lastly, Gengar was just taking too much damage. i needed his offensive presence, but orb recoil and sand killed him too fast. I opted to revamp him slightly instead of scrapping him. Sub/Disable fixed the problems i had with him and worked remarkably well against anything that was tricked a specs by Latios. Any team not prepared for it falls almost immediately, and for those that are, he still earns his spot.
My Team So Far:
---------<more playtesting to be done>----------
Admittedly, even though i started it so long ago, it's still definitely a work in progress. Any suggestions for things to try or critiques are welcomed. The main issue i've run into most recently is DD Dragonite which switching out Thunder wave on Slowbro for Toxic may help, but if more could be done without turning the team upside down, i'm open to thoughts. I hope this is a decent first attempt at an RMT, but definitely feel free to throw out those criticisms.

Nature: Relaxed
Ev's: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpAtk
Ability: Regenerator
Holding: Leftovers
Moves: Scald
Fire Blast
Thunder Wave
Slack Off
Description: Regenerator is just plain fun. Even when my prediction skills are lacking, switching him in on something that hurts won't mean i'm left with a wet pile of telepathic death fodder. switch back out and he's ready to tank the next hit. Fire Blast makes opposing Ferrothorn cry tears of death and scald can burn most anything that i'd ever have trouble tanking (which doesn't happen often).

Ability: Iron Barbs
Holding: Leftovers
Moves: Stealth Rock
Gyro Ball
Leech Seed
Power Whip
Description: My special wall. Sets up rocks, and leech seeds anything i see as an immediate threat to my team. When i need fodder, he can serve as that with the addition of additional barbs damage when he's served his purpose.

Ev's: 156 Atk/100 SpAtk/ 252 Spe
Ability: Flash Fire
Holding: Life Orb
Moves: Fire Blast
Wild Charge
Close Combat
Extremespeed
Description: I went mixed at the expense of some attack power for the sole purpose of not being completely walled by Gliscor. Fire Blast was a solid 2HKO and i could outspeed most even with a neutral nature. His coverage seemed good and needed for the team.

Holding: Choice Scarf
Moves: Earthquake
Stone Edge
U-turn
