So, I played a bunch of sun teams in gen5, and with the changes to weather have tried to branch into something new. This team has been a little underwhelming and I can't put my finger on why. Seems like I have all the components in place and it just doesn't line up. Either way this is what I'm on.
Rotom w/ Choice scarf
Levitate
Timid 252SpAtk/252Spd/4HP
Thunderbolt
Volt Switch
Hydro Pump
Trick
Think this might switch to Galvantula, sticky web seems like a huge asset to me team, and the impact of rotom has been on the decline for me. Trick is MVP, shutting out gliscors and aegisslash regularly, and I'm yet to miss the HP:Ice that I've exchanged for the ability to stab and stay in that thunderbolt provides. Been good without being great and I think the general mediocre speed of the rest of my crew may warrant a change up.
Mamonswine w/ Life orb
Thick Fat
Adamant 252Atk/252Spd/4HP
Ice Shard
Icicle Crash
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Counters dragons and mashes damage at people. One of my favorite physical attackers with good coverage and stabs. Also my only priority move present on my team.
Blastoise w/Blastoisinite
Torrent
Modest 252HP/252SpAtk/4SpDef
Water Pulse
Dark Pulse
Ice Beam
Rapid Spin
This is a point of contention for me. Looked like a great bulky aggressive spinner on paper, really hard to apply in game. Really unsure if he gets to hang out in the team- can come in on a wish pretty safely but I really don't know if it's bulk redeems or justifies it's terrible speed. Does decent damage, but I'm just not sure if he'll ever get the opportunity to with how slow he is, regardless of bulk
Gengar w/ Focus Sash
Levitate
Timid 252SpAtk/252Spd/4HP
Sludge Bomb
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
Destiny Bond
Huge damage, pretty damn fast and good coverage. optimally kills two things in the process of having his sash broken and destiny bonds the third. Haven't really seen it walled yet (save florges oddly enough, who can eat several shadow balls) Pretty much where this team starts and my favorite inclusion. Only issue is his complete inability to switch in on anything short of toxic or earthquake, making it difficult to apply sometimes.
Dragonite w/ Yache Berry
Multiscale
Jolly 252Atk/252Spd/4HP
Thunder punch
Fire punch
Dragon Claw
Dragon dance
Was on roost until very recently when thunderpunch became a necessity to deal with Talonflame. Thing mashes in faces, and sweeps hard on two dances. Item is awkward, I don't want outrage with fairy present, so lum is out, and my life orb and leftovers are elsewhere. Yache is a source of insecurity for me for sure.
Sylveon w/ Leftovers
Cute Charm
Calm 252HP/200Def/56SpDef
MoonBlast
Toxic
Protect
Wish
I like sylveon more than florges for a few reasons. Better wishes taking a back seat to the better overall defense stats, which allow me to put a buch of EVs into defense for a passable mixed wall. Wishes have been good to me, and although the moonblasts do less than florges, Sylveon has still managed to apply pressure to a good amount of difficult threats. Not sure if it fits the team composition or if it's a liability on an already slow team with awkward switch ins, so this guy is basicly another Yache.
My thought is that if I'd like to do signifigantly better I should drop blastoise and RotomW for Starmie and Galvantula, and shift a mega stone onto gengar, and a sash onto galvantula. Faster, more aggressive approach with a strong trap and sticky web to help the members of my team that are not so fast. Any help or criticism is super appreciated!
