This is my team made up entirely of Pokemon from the original 151. I tried to stick to some old-school sets, mainly for the surprise factor (it seems that everyone expects a special Charizard, for example). There are some obvious flaws with this team, like defensive type synergy and a lack of special support. I'd appreciate it if y'all left some thoughts or considerations about the team. Thanks!
Charizard (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
Standard Bellyzard- Has trouble with Stealth Rock, but can still Belly Drum if passed a substitute from Vaporeon due to Leftovers. Somewhat walled by bulky waters.
Aerodactyl (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Double-Edge
- Stone Edge
My usual suicide lead- set up Stealth Rock and deal as much damage as possible. Double-Edge without the recoil is nice. It outspeeds the vast majority of the metagame- I'm considering a flying-type attack or Aqua Tail on it.
Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SDef
Bold Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Baton Pass
This Vaporeon SubPasses to my 3 sweepers: CurseLax, BellyZard, and Aerodactyl. It's fairly bulky and easy to switch in on water-type attacks. I considered Wish, but decided that it wasn't worth giving up Ice Beam for.
Vileplume (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Calm Nature
- Aromatherapy
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
- Toxic
My cleric. It's mostly used for Snorlax after he rests (having used his Chesto Berry already). I would use Chansey as a cleric instead if my blood pressure didn't rise every time I see that pink puffball of evil. Vileplume is not very bulky but can still sponge up fighting-type attacks.
Snorlax (M) @ Chesto Berry
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Body Slam
- Rest
- Curse
- Earthquake
Classic Curselax- I'm forgoing coverage for the ChestoRest combo. As a result, it is completely walled by Levitating Ghosts. I'm considering Fire Punch, Sleep Talk, and Shadow Ball over Earthquake just so the sweep isn't stopped short so often. It takes Ice and Fire type attacks with ease due to Thick Fat.
Jolteon (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Wish
- Roar
- Thunder Wave
Another possible lead. Jolteon and Aerodactyl both have 130 base speed, and Jolteon is great for destroying setup leads (like Ninjask) and Politoed with Roar and Thunderbolt, respectively. This is also providing Wish support (mainly so BellyZard can have a second go). Again, I'm thinking of forgoing one of the moves for Hidden Power Ice for coverage.
So...thoughts? opinions? I'd like to stick to the original 151 if possible, but I understand that the type synergy is far from decent, and some others may be necessary. Thanks in advance.
