So, hi smogon, i want to show you my Team. It´s for a tourney on an other pokemonsite, it´s gen V, but you can just use the first 151 Pokemons. It´s a Drought team and it´s offense. So, now let´s have a closer look at this:

"What´s up guys? Bite in my hard ass!"
cloyster.png

Cloyster @ Focus-Sash
0/+252/4/-0/0/252 Adamant
-Skill Link
Shell Smash - Icicle Spear - Rock Blast - Explosion

Yeah, Cloyster. What else to say? He smashes, and OHKOes the half Metagame. There´s just one steel (Magneton), so i don´t use Razor Shell or something else. But it´s weakness is: Machamp. I can´t use Shell Smash because off DPunch+Bullet Punch. So i have to use Icicle Spear. Maybe i could play lo/metronome on it, so i would made 70-80% damage on it.

"I´m the real star here. I´m a SeaStar in the sun."
starmie.png

Starmie @ Leftovers
252/-0/0/0/4/+252 Timid
-Natural Cure
Rapid Spin - Recover - Thunder Wave - Scald

What needs every sun team? Right! A Spinner! So, here it is and bringing my only defensive managing. It can cripple some Pokes for a succesful sweep of my main sweepers.

"*sunshine* Fire in ya face BIATCH!"
Ninetales_by_AnnaJ.jpg

Ninetales @ Choice Scarf
0/-0/0/252/4/+252 Timid [IV:31/30/30/31/31/31]
-Drought
Overheat - Solar Beam - Hidden Power [Ice] - Hypnosis

It outspeeds the most of the metagame and with Overheat+Sun = gg. Solar Beam and HP Ice for coverage, Hypnosis to cripple somewhat. Um whait, yes, it brings me too my sun and I will have all the time Sun, because there aren´t other weatherchanger.

"I Went Down, Down, Down, and The Flames Went Higher, and It Burns, Burns, Burns.
The Ring Of Fire."
charizard.png

Charizard @ Leftovers
0/-0/4/252/0/+252 Timid
-Solar Power
Flamethrower/Fire Blast - Solar Beam - Hidden Power [Ground] - Air Slash

So, sweep it down. All. Kill them all. Flamethrower>Fire Blast. This is a tournament, i need accuracy. And it has enough Power^^ 95 BP x 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 (or 2, I don´t no how make the sun makes^^") x 1.3 Flamethrower + STAB + Solar Power + Sun + LO. Wow. This is really enough. It looses much HP, because of it´s ability and lo, but this is a REAL powerhouse.

"Plants don´t burn down in the sun. They grow faster."
venusaur.png

Venusaur @ Black Sludge
0/-0/0/+252/4/252 Modest
-Chlorophyll
Sleep Powder - Growth - Solar Beam - Sludge Bomb

So, here´s the main reason, why i builded this team. It´s a monster. Not more to say. If Sleep Powder fails, I can use it next turn, thanks to its natural bulk. Growth in Sun = awsm, Atk AND SpAtk +2. 120 STAB and an 120 BP move, so i don´t get walled by Chansey. Incredible Power, but i think i don´t will switch in this set anything, it works very well. So, no Synthesis, no EQ, no Power Whip and no Sludge Bomb or a HP.

"Hi Snorlax!"
dragonite.png

Dragonite @ Choice Band
0/+252/0/-0/0/252 Adamant
-Multiscale
Outrage - Thunder Punch - Earthquake - Extreem Speed

Just another powerhouse...
Killing Snorlax, and raging out^^

So that´s my team, rate it, hate it, make anything else with it.
(sorry if my English sucks^^)

hey i would definately replace solar beam on ninetales for energy ball. If they switch into a different weather inducer you have to charge solarbeam, they kill it and then their weather is up for the whole game. And on starmie i would try a different move over scald because its power is reduced in the sun. maybe try psychic thunderbolt or ice beam.
Good Luck

Well, look:
There are no other weather inducers in Gen I. And im testing Psychic > Scald, but this Burns is too nice :3
I maybe will use lo on Cloyster, change Machamp to Sub 3 Attacks And anything on zard, maybe Fire blast, specs or something else?
Well, thank you so and pls rate more^^

I'd say give Charizard Lefties over LO to give it a bit more surviablity. It really won't last long at all taking ~ 20% damage each turn. Its moves will still be super strong, but it won't go down after using 1 or 2 attacks and be more effective in the long run.

Change Machamp to DDnite or Gengar, if you're going to use a random filler Pokemon use something that's a bit more effective on the Gen 1 Pokemon. One Steel = the ability to run DD/Band Outrage on Dragonite with no real issues, and Gengar pretty much counters CurseLax, which could become common in a tournament like this (which Gen 1 Pokemon phaze, again?)

As I look through this team, one of the main problems I see is that it simply isn't able to consistently win weather wars. Any weather inducer, be it Tyranitar, Politoed or Abomasnow can come in for free on a Charizard, Ninetales or Venusaur solar beam and proceed to either set up, or switch to a sweeper. Tyranitar can easily set up stealth rocks on solar beam's halved base power with its monstrous special defense and proceed to kill the incoming Starmie or Ninetales with a crunch/stone edge respectively. Politoed can easily switch out to a sweeper such as Thundurus or Tornados, both of which resist solar beam, and proceed to cause a lot of problems for you, as you really don't have a safe switch-in to either.

One of the first changes I would like to make is your Ninetales set. A choice scarf set really isn't good for something like tales to be using, because it needs to have an extended presence throughout the match to keep setting up the sun that is so crucial for your team. In order to do so, I would recommend a change to the standard ninetales set :
move 1: Flamethrower
move 2: Will-O-Wisp
move 3: Protect
move 4: Hidden Power Fighting
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Drought
Nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 92 SpD / 164 Spe
This can help you in weather wars by letting you switch in on Politoed a little bit easier (if it is a defensive version using scald at least) and you can get burns up on key weather inducers meaning they'll have to limit switch-ins giving you more control over the weather.

I really don't see much of a purpose for Machamp to be on your team except you not really being able to figure out what to do. This looks like a good opportunity to put a more support filled pokemon on the team. You can't really handle dragons that well, outside of Cloyster who can't really switch-in, so I am recommending Heatran for your team. It is a good all around poke that will provide the necessary dragon resistance as well as being able to set up stealth rocks for you. The set I will recommend is just a Specially Defensive Heatran.

move 1: Lava Plume / Flamethrower
move 2: Protect / Roar
move 3: Earth Power / Will-o-Wisp
move 4: Stealth Rock
item: Leftovers
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Before Heatran was on your team, something like Choice Specs Latios could come in for free on Ninetales, Charizard, Machamp; anything really, and proceed to fire off extremely powerful Draco Meteors. Heatran can provide an extremely reliable switch-in to things like this as well as potentially burning the Latios (especially if it decides to stay in and surf or whatever reason) or any potential pokemon that might decide to switch in. You might desire a higher burn rate, so you can replace earth power for will-o-wisp and lava plume for flamethrower to have almost the same results.

The Venusaur set you are using is simply inefficient and can be optimized to the following :
move 1: Growth
move 2: Energy Ball
move 3: Hidden Power Fire
move 4: Sleep Powder
item: Life Orb
ability: Chlorophyll
nature: Modest
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
ivs: 2 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
This is simply so you give a steel absolutely no chance to come in and set up. If a wall could find the time to do that in a match, you might find the momentum quickly slipping away from you, and since this is an offensive team, you don't want that.

Since you are doing this for a tournament, my post might not apply, but if you decide to take this to a ladder I hope you'll take my suggestions.

Everyone needs to stop worrying about weather wars. OP stated this was got a Gen I tournament, and Ninetails is the only auto weather starter. I wouldn't worry about RD, Hail or SS teams too much either. Just keep Ninetails alive long enough to scout for other non auto weather starters.

My only advice would be to change Double Edge with Sludge Bomb on Venusaur. STAB makes it more powerful than Double Edge. I wouldn't worry about Chansey if you're running Machamp, although I tend to agree with the other posters and change Machamp to Dragonite.

So, thanks to everybody for the rates, i tested a bit and my changes are now:
-Charizard: Leftovers > LO; (Fire Blast > Fthrower)
So, it don´t go down after 2 rounds and has much power. I could play Fire Blast. What do you guys think about this? (Becuase hax online is to haxy [my record: focus blast fails 8 times...])
-Venusaur: Umm, I saw against Chansey: free ssetting up for me, because the mosts coming in instantly if they see my venu and I have with Sleep Powder+Grotwh free setup time :D (252SpAtk +6 Venusaur (+SAtk) SolarBeam vs 252HP/180SpDef Eviolite Chansey (+SpDef): 50% - 58% (352 - 415 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO.) I don´t need Double-Edge so I´ll use Sludge Bomb over this.
-Machamp: DDNite or CBNite? What do you think? I´m testing atm both, and i think, the most Nites will be Leadnites, so Cloyster can kill them. I have Rapid Spin, too, so I can be sure, that Multiscale works. I believe I´ll use CBNite, but what do you say about this?
-Ninetales: No, no, no. Scarf is godlike. Overheat > all. And there are NO other weatherinducers (Poli=Gen2, Ttar=2, Hippo=4, Obama=4).
-Starmie: It will be the same set, if Cloyster is knocked out, and hazards are lying comes this little star promptly in. It spins, recovers and burns/paralyses. This is a good set for its job.
-Cloyster: Guys, PLEASE say me what i have to use, Sash for safely succes, or LO for increasing damage? I think, I´ll use Sash, but i want to hear what you say!

So, thanks for all the rates, I hope there coming more^^ (just btw: sucks my English? I´m 11 years old and German, so I dunno...)

EDIT: I have to play Venusaur or Cloyster with +Speed. Without this, other sunteams with Venusaur are killing me. What do you think about this?

Cloyster just doesn't fit unto a sun team, I would switch it for snorlax which gives you a lot of utility against various threats to this team, and its still from gen one.
