[SET COMMENTS]
Galarian Slowking is an amazing defensive pivot due to its stellar special bulk, an amazing ability in Regenerator that allows it to switch into threats like Raging Bolt, Mega Diancie, and Iron Valiant consistently, and the ability to assist its teammates in breaking down the opposing team with Future Sight. Psychic Noise is an alternative to Future Sight, as it allows Galarian Slowking to threaten Pokemon like Iron Valiant and Pecharunt directly while preventing Pokemon like Toxapex and Tapu Koko from recovering, as well as hitting Kyurem and Zamazenta behind Substitute. Chilly Reception allows it to lure in foes like Hisuian Samurott, Urshifu-R, and Roaring Moon while letting in checks like Zamazenta and Mega Lopunny without receiving damage, giving them opportunities to break, which they wouldn’t have otherwise. This can be especially threatening with Future Sight support, which often puts the foe in awkward situations. Thunder Wave allows Galarian Slowking to permanently cripple threats like Tapu Lele, Iron Valiant, and Roaring Moon switching into it. Toxic can also fulfill this task, but it is mainly used for targeting bulkier Pokemon like Slowbro and Moltres and setup sweepers like Volcarona and Raging Bolt that leverage their bulk and longevity. Flamethrower allows Galarian Slowking to directly threaten Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Kingambit, and Gholdengo, which would otherwise easily switch into it and remove it. Heavy-Duty Boots helps Galarian Slowking preserve its longevity in the face of entry hazards, as it switches extremely often.
Galarian Slowking fits best on balance and bulky offense teams, which appreciate it bringing in its powerful offensive teammates while offering support by dealing with their checks using either Future Sight or status moves. The main deterrents to Galarian Slowking are Pursuit trappers like Kingambit, Mega Tyranitar, and Weavile, as they can easily switch in and remove it. Therefore, Fighting-types like Urshifu-R, Zamazenta, and Mega Lopunny are near-required. These Pokemon also benefit the most from Galarian Slowking’s Future Sight support, as it commonly lures in Dark- and Steel-types that they can take advantage of. Knock Off absorbers like Great Tusk and Gliscor are also appreciated, due to Galarian Slowking's weakness to Knock Off as well as the removal of its Heavy-Duty Boots, which is detrimental to its longevity. Pokemon like Gholdengo, Tapu Lele, and Iron Valiant give Galarian Slowking trouble, as they can all hit it super effectively, so Pokemon that can deal with them like Kingambit, Assault Vest Melmetal, and Ferrothorn are appreciated. Gholdengo in particular can easily switch into non-Flamethrower variants and set up, so Pursuit trappers like Mega Tyranitar and the aforementioned Kingambit work well as teammates. Finally, Galarian Slowking invites in many physical attackers like Landorus-T, Melmetal, and Mega Medicham due to its less than stellar physical bulk, so physical walls like Landorus-T, Zapdos, and Slowbro are appreciated. These Pokemon also offset Galarian Slowking’s weakness to common Ground-types like Great Tusk and Garchomp. In return, Galarian Slowking can deal with Iron Valiant and Mega Diancie for these Pokemon, giving them more chances to break the opposing team.
