Hey Smogon, been lurking a long time. Recently got back into Pokemon and could use some help with the team I'm using. I'm usually into all out offense but tried balance or semi stall or whatever for a change.
Not going well to say the least but that's what I'm here for. Yea.
So the team's main focus is status stalling, with burn and toxic. It's supposed to cover as many threats as possible so if you read this and think it's Chandelure weak or some shit, please just go ahead and say it.
Anyway, this is the team:
Shaymin @ Leftovers
Trait - Natural Cure
EV's - 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4SpD
Timid Nature (+Spe / -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Seed Flare
- Air slash-
- Substitute
This thing is what I started the team with. Really underrated poke in UU imo. Provides so much offensive pressure that it's easy to get a sub up. I like to have rocks up before I bring shaymin in since most of his checks are weak to it, ( Zapdos, Togekiss, Rotom-H etc) sub on their switch in and just leech seed then switch out. Air slash for hera mainly, just a filler I guess but it hits grass types who otherwise wall me.
Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Trait - Solid Rock
EV's - 248 HP / 16 Atk / 244 SpD
Adamant Nature (+Atk / -SpA)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Dragon Tail
Standard Rhyperior. Just really reliable at getting rocks out. I take this as my lead most of the team especially when I see they have no spinner. I like rock blast over stone edge for sub breaking ability. Plus it beats things like yanmega/ninjask leads who try and sub pass off the bat. Never used dragon tail I don't think. Could maybe use megahorn instead? I don't know.
Mew @ Leftovers
Trait - Synchronize
EV's - 252 HP / 224 Def / 32 Spe
Bold Nature (+ Def / -Atk)
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
I love this mew set. Stalls so many pokes to death its ridiculous. I almost use it as a sweeper rather than a wall. Just bring it in late game when I've gotten rid of pursuiters/chandelure. Have to admit though, I've been getting bent over by guts hera recently and mew doesn't help at all.
Blastoise @ Leftovers
Trait - Torrent
EV's - 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature (+Def / -Atk)
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Roar
- Toxic
Not much to say about blastoise other than I needed a spinner. Tried hitmontop, but really found that this thing merged better with my team at the time. Wanted to go for a f/w/g core anyway. Plus blastoise can provide both burn AND poison. I use roar > dragon tail just for the safety, and to prevent things like Chandelure setting up on me when I try and spin.
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Trait - Pressure
EV's - 248 HP / 236 SpD / 24 Spe
Calm Nature (+SpD / -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
- Hp Flying
- Toxic
I needed something on the team to take advantage of all the status. And really just switch in on pokes that threaten shaymin. I've changed round its move-set a tonne. Hp flying is for heracross and Mienshao because I have very little to deal with them if I use hp ice or similar instead. I know gligar and swampert wall me etc but I have plenty of ways to deal with them. (See shaymin). SpD bulky because it can actually beat things like raikou, suicune and chandelure via toxic stalling and hopefully leech seed.
Rotom-H @ Choice Scarf
Trait - Levitate
EV's - 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Timid Nature (+Spe / -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Hp Grass
- Trick
Rotom came last in the teams build and is literally there to cover holes that the rest of my team doesn't cover. It finishes off my f/w/g core and is a great scout early game and great revenge killer late game. This is the slot that's the most interchangeable and the one I'm most willing to swap out. But it covers so much. I just have no idea what to use instead. Timid > Modest for Heracross. Hp grass for swampert mainly since they love to switch into the predicted Volt switch. So does rhyperior.
Threats / Conclusion
I have pretty good experience with this team and can tell you that played, right, it doesn't have many weaknesses. I find that playing against Heal bell Umbreon is almost a guaranteed loss which isn't ideal...
Heracross is also a definite threat, even with the changes I've made. If I can't revenge with Rotom it can 6-0 me.
Houndoom especially when combo'd with some physical sweeper can be a massive issue because it can come in on Mew Will-O-Wisp or Rotom-H Overheat, Pursuit them then abuse my lack of physical defence.
So please, RMT!
