Hey everyone,
Before we start, thank you for taking time to read this RMT thread. Any tips/suggestions are always welcome. The team is focused on having as much balance as possible, while still being damage oriented. Without furder ado, let's begin this thread.
Sylveon @ Life Orb
Trait: Cute Charm
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest nature
~ Shadow Ball
~ Calm Mind
~ Moonblast
~ Wish
Sylveon is one of the mons in this gen that has caught my attention, being very bulky, but also very powerful on the offensive side. With Moonblast as a STAB move, Sylveon fullfills a role in my team as 'dragon slayer'. However, because ghost type mons are also fairly popular, Shadow Ball has been added as means to get rid of those ghost/psychic types. I use Calm Mind whenever I have the chance to, either by means of a forced switch, or a two turn move, like Solarbeam. Many users of Aegislash tend to set up King's Shield, which are great moments for using Calm Mind. Sylveon is really scary with a +2 on SpA/SpD, being able to deal with a good portion of the metagame. Wish is there as a form of recovery, since Sylveon holds Life Orb. It's also used when I need to switch out, without having to take a lot of damage on my switch in.
Blastoise @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EV: 252 HP / 252 SpDef / 4 Def
Modest Nature
~ Rapid Spin
~ Scald
~ Toxic
~ Protect
Blastoise has excelently proven himself as a very strong Special Defensive wall on my team. Being my Special Wall and spreader of Poison and Burns, this guy is also a great spinner. I use him mostly as a answer to Special Attack teams, where I simply put Toxic on the enemy mon, take a bit of damage, use Protect and deal damage with Scald. Having Modest nature is suboptimal, taking away a bit of Special defense, however, it's useful on Scald. The stalling game is perfect for this guy, even against mons like Yveltal. (Succesfully defeated in Random Matchup with no sweat).
Chandelure @ Spooky Plate/Choice Specs
Trait: Flame Body
EV: 120 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD / 128 Spe
Modest Nature
~ Fire Blast
~ Shadow Ball
~ Energy Ball
~ Hidden Power
Ah, Chandelure. Being one of my favorites ever. Despite not being too popular (imo), this mon has proven me that it's qualities are splendid, and he's not to be underestimated. Being the answer to Steel types, ghost/psychic and grass types, Chandelure carries Energy Ball in order to deal with the Rock types. Now I might hear you say: Isn't that dangerous. Yup, it is. But given the EV setup, Chandelure has proven to be faster then most of the Rock types. Not certain about all, but most. Chandelure is a powerhouse, here to instantly remove threats from the field. It's proven really useful against a good portion of the opponents I've faced. Yet, a side note: He's got no chance against a Garchomp. 1 EQ could be enough to destroy Chandelure. A fragile, yet powerful member of my squad. (I mean, his base SpA...). Spooky plate is there to up the base power of Shadow Ball, whereas Choice Specs are there for overall extra power.
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Sturdy
EV: 224 HP / 252 Def / 32 SpD
Impish Nature
~ Spikes
~ Brave Bird
~ Roost
~ Whirlwind
Skarmory embodies the physical walling of my team. And since he's very good at it, I don't think this guy needs a lot of explanation. Brave Bird is there to be a STAB Move/not become Taunt baited, whereas the rest of the moveset emodies being the entry hazard setup. Roost is there as recovery, Whirlwind is there to drag out other mons if the matchup isn't too well, mostly forcing damage from the spikes. And that's quite useful, since that tactic can negate the effects of Sturdy mons. Now, Rocky helmet seems kind of vague, but most physical attackers don't really have a lot of HP, so this item is there to cut it down a bit more. (That, and a lack of Leftovers).
Aegislash @ Shell Bell
Trait: Stance Change
EV 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
~ Iron Head
~ Kings' Shield
~ Sacred Sword
~ Shadow Sneak
The physical damage on the team, Aegislash has a good synergy with both Sylveon and Blastoise, as it can struggle hard against physical walls. Both Syl and Blas are there to take care of that issue. Special walls are no problem for this guy. Not carrying Swords Dance is asking for people making comments on that, but this moveset is quite experimental. Lacking recovery, Shell Bell is there to make up for it. The other moves seem self-explanatory.
Note: I was struggling with the idea of giving him Air Balloon, since he doesn't take EQ's too well. However, that leaves the guy with no recovery.
Mega Ampharos @ Ampharosite
Trait: Mold Breaker (Static)
EV: 172 HP / 252 SAtk / 84 Spd
Modest Nature
~ Thunderbolt
~ Thunder Wave
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Volt Switch
Hi certain flying pokemon from the OU tier, meet your nemesis. Being the underdog of the Mega's in most cases, doomed to the RU/UU tiers, here's a pokemon that deserves a little recognition. His type coverage in Mega form is great, as well as his stats, which become quite decent. Being a bit slow, I've chosen this set of EV's, giving him some extra bulk and extra speed. Volt Switch is here to protect this fabulous mother of sheeps, while Thunder Wave is used as a tool for predicted switches. ParaHex aren't fun, but boy do I love them. A strong answer to the type coverage of my team (no answer to flying types in the team), Amphy is strong against flying, as well as a lot of other typings. However, Amphy seems to have problems with ground types, although he's able to survive most of the EQ's/Earth Powers. I love using this mon, but I feel he has some all around issues, since current Wi-Fi battles on the Battle Spot are dominated by the OU tier.
So, overall:
Pro's:
-Team is mixed from defense to offense
-IMO nice coverage of typings
-Synergy between Aegislash, Blastoise and Sylveon
-Synergy between Sylveon, Chandy, Amphy and Skarmory
-Screw Talonflame
-Fabulous Mega!
Cons:
-Major issue: team seems weak to ground typing
-Mega isn't from the OU/Uber tier, leaving him outclassed, but still strong.
-4 out of 6 have no natural form of recovery
-Some natures are suboptimal
Any form of feedback is appreciated. Thank you!
