Balanced Nonweather Team (I <3 Mew)

Well, I tried out a sun team and a rain team, but I just don't care for the whole weather thing, so I'm going to go back to nonweather teams. My last nonweather team had a few flaws, such as a couple type weaknesses, so I decided to start mostly over. I kept 3 of the pokes off my last team, just changed a couple moves around.

The Team:

mew.jpg

Mew @ Leftovers
Nature: Bold [+Def, -Atk]
Ability: Synchronize
252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spe
-Psychic
-Softboiled
-Will o Wisp
-Taunt

In Depth:
Okay, so Mew is by far my favorite pokemon. He is so versatile, has good stats, and has one of the best, if not the best move pool out there. I chose him for my team because he is an amazing wall breaker, and my team was quite weak to walls.

Mew's EVs here make him a physical wall of sorts, while still having plenty of speed to beat most other walls. The goal of Mew is to taunt the opposing poke, then proceed to burn or switch out to something to better handle it.

Now to the move choices. Psychic is for STAB power. Softboiled is what makes this Mew great. The reliable recovery makes this thing tough to take down. I run WoW to cripple some really threatening physical pokes and to obviously get some damage over time to some really defensive others. Finally, Taunt is the main move of Mew on this team. It's the whole reason it fulfills it's goal.
Thanks to New World Order for suggesting Wall Breaker Mew

gyarados.jpg

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Nature: Adamant [+Atk, -SpA]
Ability: Intimidate
156 HP / 170 Atk / 184 Spe
-Waterfall
-Dragon Dance
-Taunt
-Bounce
In Depth:
Gyara Gyara Gyara. What is there to say about him? You know, other than duck, there's a giant dragon fish thing flying at you! But yea, I've never actually used a Gyarados much outside of this team, but so far he's been where it's at. He's on this team because of his Synergy with Conkeldurr and Heatran, and the other pokes too to be honest.

The EVs I chose are to give him plenty of bulk (if you can't tell, I usually prefer bulk to super offensive speed in most cases) along with high damage and speed power. The speed on this makes him able to outspeed most nonscarfed pokes after one DD. I have Intimidate over Moxie, because it can potentially make it easier to set up, but if you give me a better reason to choose Moxie, I might reconsider. Also, I like leftovers more than LO. I hate the low survivability LO gives.

Waterfall is standard for nearly any Gyarados set it seems. It's STAB and highly powerful. DD is to set up and maybe sweep if I'm lucky. Taunt keeps things from statusing me with a burn or T-wave. I might change this to Stone Edge, but right now I like taunt. Finally, I have Bounce because It's pretty much the only flying move Gyara gets. And it can be potentially good, such as if I need a bit of lefties recovery it can be gotten while in the air.

conkeldurr.jpg

Conkeldurr @ Leftovers
Nature: Adamant [+Atk, -SpA]
Ability: Guts
120 HP / 252 Atk / 138 SpD
-Drain Punch
-Mach Punch
-Bulk Up
-Payback
In Depth:
This is a pretty standard Conk set. Not much special here. He has the fighting dark moves combo with bulk up to become almost unstoppable. With this thing's high HP, high Atk, and decent SpD, it is absolutely a monster. I chose him because of his synergy with Gyara, Mew, and Umbreon, along with his extraordinary power.

I have adamant to give that extra bit of power. Guts is amazing, because if I can predict a WoW, it's game. No more chance for the other team unless he or she has a really good check to Conk. The EVs are about as standard and bland as they get, but they do work. This gives Conk just enough bulk and SpD to absorb hits and regain life with Drain Punch.

Speaking of Drain Punch (oh yea, segue FTW), it is one of the reasons Conk is so good. If the opponent has no choice but to leave a Blissy in on him (this will probably never happen), it's like a Chinese buffet. This has never happened to me, I just wanted to use the phrase "Chinese buffet" in pokemon. Mach Punch also let's him be a pretty decent revenge killer. Bulk Up let's him set up to absorb physical and special hits pretty well. The attack boost is pretty good too haha. Finally, Payback can make dealing with Reuniclus a bit easier, even if I'm not always guaranteed to with a 1on1 with it.

bronzong.jpg

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Nature: Sassy [+SpD, -Spe]
Ability: Synchronize
252 HP / 80 Def / 92 SpD / 84 Atk
-Gyro Ball
-Hidden Power [ice]
-Stealth Rock
-Protect
In Depth:
This is another Dragon Killer on my team. It acts as a special, and somewhat physical, wall. He is on this team to counter Landorus, which my team is a bit weak to.

The defense and special defense EVs are to give him enough defense to sponge a Draco and usually an Outrage too, then fire back an HP ice or Gyro Ball. The extra attack is to give a better possibility of KOing with Gyro, but I might end up changing some of the EVs around depending on how Bronzong works out for me. I'm still sort of testing him.

One reason he is on here is to give my team Stealth Rock. It's probably the best move in the game, seriously. HP ice is to deal with a lot of dragons and to deal with Landorus, which is weak to it as well. Gyro Ball is very powerful and STAB. Also, protect makes scouting easy and can give a bit of extra recovery with lefties. I might try explosion in this spot though, even though it's nerfed.
Thanks again to New World Order for this suggestion.

latios.jpg

Latios @ Choice Specs
Nature: Timid [+Spe, -Atk]
Ability: Levitate
6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Draco Meteor
-Hidden Power [fire]
-Surf
-Thunder
In Depth:
Dum Dum Dum Dum! Here we are gents. Latios is for when My team is in desperate need of a KO or when I'm really starting to fall behind. So many people have been running ferro lately (and as always) so that's pretty much a free kill. Seriously. No one expects the obvious HP Fire. They really underpredict for it. I can switch in Latios on a nondragonresisting poke, then just use HP fire because almost everyone will switch in their Ferro, Forretress, etc. The only time I won't at least try for it is when there's a Heatran on the enemy field.

These EV's are the most basic ones for a specs Latios. I suppose I could use expert belt, but I don't think that would fit greatly with this team. Tell me wihat you think. This nature is chosen over modest because I like not having other Latioses outspeed me, even if it's a speed tie. I'm not worried about the speed loss in HP Fire, for most of them run it as well.

HP Fire is for the steels in the metagame. Thunder and Surf are actually really good for taking advantage of rain teams. HP Fire does something similair to sun sometimes too. And last but not least, Draco Meteor is pretty much standard for a specs Latios set, and there's a reason. It's the bomb; end of story.

heatran.jpg

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Nature: Calm [+SpD, -Atk]
Ability: Flash Fire
252 HP / 58 SpA / 200 SpD
-Flamethrower
-Earthpower
-Hidden Power [ice]
-Roar
In Depth:
The sun counter / special wall of my team is in the first picture directly above the text. Yes, it is Heatran. This Tran is my answer to dragon types and my phazer.

The EV's of this Heatran give it enough bulk and SpD while still giving it some decent SpA power. I like Air Balloon because I don't like switching in on a bad prediction and getting EQ'd or E-powered right out of the game.

Flamethrower is picked over Lava Plume and Fire Blast because I like the reliability and I don't care about the less chance for a burn. Earthpower is for more coverage and to take care of other Heatrans if I can. HP Ice let's me deal with Dragons, especially specially offensive ones. Finally, Roar is such a needed move to me. I hate not having a phazer, for it can often cost me the match entirely.

Newest team comments/thoughts:
Well, I've been testing this team and Mew doesn't seem to fit for some reason, though, I think I'm just getting unlucky with him, and I'm putting WoW back on him. Also, Umbreon never seems to do anything at all but wish pass, so if there's a better wish passer you can think of that'd be great. I'll probably put Vaporeon in that place. I'd like to add that I hate Jirachi, I just hate him so much. I know that's a bit out of place, but I had to get it off my chest. That hax machine should be an uber, seriously.

Hopefully you like this team. I spent a lot of today fixing some of its problems. I think it could maybe use more speed if anything, but ah, I'm not sure. Thanks for reading. :)

Also, I'd like to know why no one ever seems to have interest in my RMT's. I see ones that are a month old with people still posting on them. Or they'll have had 2 or 3 people post within the first 30 views. I just want to know why my posts don't get so much attention. Do they not look good enough? Is the title unappealing? Are my teams boring? Or am I just getting really unlucky? lol

Hi, your team looks like it would have trouble against stall. Gyarados is more often than not your only answer to it. You also stated yourself that Mew doesn't seem to be pulling its weight. So I suggest using stallbreaker Mew. With a solid 100 base speed, Mew is capable of outspeeding a majority of OU walls, and can really screw them over with a combination of Taunt and Will-o-Wisp, preventing them from healing or handing status to Mew, and watch as they slowly crumble to passive damage. EVs to allow Mew to outspeed most Gliscor variants. Mew's above average bulk and access to Softboiled ensures that the opposing stallers wont be able to power their way past Mew either. Psychic is an obligatory STAB move that allows Mew to serve as a check to many dangerous OU fighting types. Most notably Terrakion. The best part is, many stall teams carry Terrakion as their designated revenge killer, and Mew is as solid a Terrakion counter as any.

Mew @ Leftovers
Synchronize
Bold
252 Hp/ 204 Def/ 52 Spe
Psychic
Taunt
Will-o-Wisp
Softboiled

Umbreon is not a good OU pokemon at all. It doesn't offer any particularly good resistances, and 5th gen power creep means that without the resistances to abuse them, those defensive stats are nothing impressive. The fact that it gets dominated by fighting types doesn't help its case either. It seems that your team currently has issues dealing with Landorus. So in Umbreons's place I suggest running Bronzong. Bronzong offers you another dragon resist, which you can never have too much of. It provides Stealth Rocks support since Mew no longer carries it. Bronzong can back up Heatran for sponging Draco Meteors, and can dispose of Outrage locked dragons with Gyro Ball or Hidden Power Ice.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Levitate
Sassy
252 Hp/ 84 Atk/ 80 Def/ 92 SpD/ 2 Speed IVs

Hidden Power Ice
Protect (Earthquake is no longer needed, since its only target ever really was Excadrill, might as well HP whore with this moveslot until some genious player comes up with a metagame shifting set or something)

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I've been testing them today, and my win percentage has increased significantly. I'll probably make them permanent members of my team.

I don't see why this team doesn't have more rates, it's better than a majority of the teams posted.

Just one quick thing. Try leftovers on Heatran, Air Balloon is nice and all but passive healing is better with all that bulk you carry.

How often do you use Thunder on Latios? Have there been cases were thunderbolt, Psyshock, or Trick would have been a better last move?

I like the team. Gyarados can be problematic and you don't have any thing to stop it. leftover over balloon for recovery because Heatran can easily stop stall which are getting used more and more everyday.

Wow, thanks. I decided thunderbolt would be better on Latios than thunder, seeing as a see very few rain teams now since thundurus has been banned, so thunder is basically pointless. I'm still trying to decide about lefties on Heatran, because the balloon has saved me many a times.

I love that you're using the old school DDGyarados.
I like this team a lot, but if I could say anything, it's about HP Fire on Latios, but HP Fighting can be a lot more helpful. Not only does it give Lati an option against Ttar, his worst enemy (in DW with soul dew, doing an average of 88-100%) but most of the ferrothorn, and other 4x Fire weak steels, will be under rain. It's all preference, but it's been very helpful to me.

That's actually a really good point. Any time I see ferro or anything like that any more is in rain, so HP Fighting would probably help so much more than fire. And yea, Ttar is definitely a problem for me, especially if they have a lum berry and I can't burn it with Mew. One problem I've been having is with Starmie. I have very few things to deal with it, especially if it runs Psychic, Ice Beam, Surf/Hydro Pump, and Thunder/Thunderbolt because that checks basically every member on my team. Oh well, I guess you can't check everything.

These days you don't generally see to many Starmies running psychic. But something you could do to counter Starmie in general, would be to put sucker punch over psychic on Mew. It seems as though your Mew is more or less a support set anyway so losing the stab move shouldn't hurt to much, and with fairly low attack investment after 1-2 LO recoils a sucker punch should easily kill a Starmie.

EDIT: Also you could try running Lava Plume over flamethrower on Heatran, the extra 20% chance of a burn is probably worth the 15 less BP in my opinion.

I notice that this tem is quite offensive. Bar new, your only wall here is Bronzong. I reccommend going with something that can wall a little more, as in my experiences Bronxong sucks. I recommend Dusclops or Porygon2.

Dusclops @ Eviolite
N: (+Def/-Spe)
E: 200 Hp/180 Def/130 Def

~ Night Shade
~ Pain Split
~ Will O Wisp
~ Brick Break

Using WoW on him, Mew can lead with Stealth Rocks instead. Dusclops is almost like chansey (which cannot take CC to the face at all) which can night shade everything and BB anything else. He can Aldo break walls with WoW, and can Pain Split when low in health making him a good toxic fodder in my experiences.

-Or-

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
N: ( + any def/- atk)
E: 200 Hp/180 (sp)def/130 (sp)def
Trait: Trace

~ Ice Beam
~ Recover
~ T-Bolt
~ Toxic

Toxic stall/Dragon killer/Boltbeamer with recover is something to consider. Although it means a loss of rocks. Mew fits well on this team as it's so offensive walls give you trouble, and this wall is like your core. Mew can't wall besides a Bronzong, and Porygon2 can Also break walls with toxic.

Sweepers have great synergy, and if you decide to go with P2, heatran can use Stealth Rocks. I wish this team luck,
Anthonias

Thats some good suggestions. I actually find Bronzong to not be working. I swept three pokes with it once (dont even ask how that happemed) and i set up SR. Otherwise he's just become set up fodder. Dusclops is an amazig wall, but for some reason Im liking the idea of P2. I've never used him, but I'm very tempted to try it. Thanks for the suggestions.

Getting rid of Bronzong would mean getting rid of entry hazards, which you cannot afford to do. Heatran needs roar because you need it to get rid of Volcorona, and fast. Putting Stealth Rocks back onto Mew would mean you're weak to stall again. The best candidate for replacing Bronzong is Ferrothorn. It takes most of the dragon hits that Bronzong is relied upon to take, it sets up entry hazards (in fact, you now have the option of Spikes as well), and it gives you another way to deal with rain teams. EVs to take 2 +1 EQs from Haxorus and retaliate with either Leech Seed or Gyro Ball

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Iron Barbs
Relaxed
252 Hp/ 88 Def/ 168 SpD/ 0 Speed IVs
Stealth Rock
Spikes/ Leech Seed
Power Whip
Gyro Ball

Thank you very much man. I love ferro on this team, even though I don't normally like him. He completely walls so many things. Also, I love how I never see Magnezone until I start using ferro. Either way, I'll be replacing Bronzong with Ferro on the team officially for this RMT when I have the time. Right now I'm heading to bed so I'll be sure to get on it tomorrow evening.
