SM OU Balanced Team RTM

Heya, this is my first RTM so go easy on me! Thanks in advance.

Tyranitar (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake

I picked Tyranitar because he packs a pretty hard punch, but also because I need a Stealth Rocker. I chose him over Ferrothorn because he is more of an offensive threat than him. I’m running Pursuit over Crunch because of its trapping ability, and Rock Slide over Stone Edge because of its higher accuracy. He’s holding a Rocky Helmet because I couldn’t think of anything else. Earthquake is for coverage.

Volcarona (F) @ Buginium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 208 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower
- Bug Buzz
- Roost

Volcarona is a check for Pokémon like M-Scizor, Ferrothorn, Kartana and Heatran. She could also potentially spread burns with Flame body, but early game, she’s mostly forcing switch ins. Once comfortable, she can start setting up Quiver Dance to clean up after the teams’ hard hitters who have taken care of the big threats.

Mawile-Mega (F) @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head

This thing frickin hits hard. It doesn’t really give a damn. Although she never really sees a 6-0 sweep, she still carries a massive blow wherever she hits. I like to switch her in on passive Pokémon, or fighting types for example. Then we set up, and let hell break loose. Her move set is pretty much standard but I prefer Iron Head over Knock Off or some coverage move like Fire Fang. It means she can hit other fairies hard.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 SpD / 56 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Defog

Rotom-Wash is my Specially Defensive Wall. It has a pretty flexible roll, and it’s move set is pretty self explanatory. Its most important role would be defogging to clear the way for Volcarona. Other than that, just dishing out burns and keeping momentum with Volt-Switch would be it’s to-do list, as well as being a key wall to special attackers.

Latios @ Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Light Screen
- Psychic
- Draco Meteor
- Recover

Latios is another flexible player. Generally, he’s switching in to what he can tank, which is a lot thanks to the dragon typing, and then hitting hard as hell with STAB moves that are boosted by Soul Dew. Light Screen is there for a replacement over Calm Mind. I found that Latios was simply never comfortable enough to start properly setting up. It would be switch in, Psychic/Draco Meteor, then switch out. So now instead, when possible, Light Screen is used. It adds some specially defensive bulk which the team appears to lack.

Tangrowth (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Knock Off
- Giga Drain
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Finally, the big fella. Tangrowth is an impeccable physically defensive pivot that can be switched in to countless threats that are in the OU meta game, and thanks to its ability, it has reliable recovery too. Knock Off is a form of punishment to switch ins, as is Sleep Powder. HP Ice takes care of Landorus-T, Gliscor and to a certain extent Garchomp and Kommo-O and Giga Drain is recovery and STAB. Also, the rocky helmet punishes physical attackers when Tangrowth is being switched in.

The team seems mostly solid, I'm not going to give it a proper rate right now but I have a few suggestions/questions:

1. Tyranitar might appreciate a pinch Berry more than the Rocky Helmet, as it's going to be eating a lot of chip.
2. I feel like this is a mistake but your Rotom isn't fully EVd.
3. I prefer Amoonguss over Tangrowth on this team, as it's a more reliable answer to fighting types that otherwise threaten you, and takes a lot less from Magearna, who also looks like a serious problem.

Overall I worry the team doesn't have much of a proactive plan. You can't just win with Rocky Helmet chip. Your hazard setter can be worn down easily enough for rocks to come off the field, and although Mawile is great in a stall matchup it's not necessarily going to sweep. And against offence you're going to struggle to find good opportunities to quiver dance up. (This is one reason I advise Amoonguss as those Spore turns can really help.)

Thanks a lot for the comment! Here’s a response to your thee points.
1.I definitely agree with you in Tyranitars case. What kind of Berry would you advise?
2. I fixed the Rotom thing that just a mistake.
3.I personally prefer Tangrowth, I feel like it’s more solid Defensive wise. But I will definitely try Amoonguss out. Do you think that you could give me a move set for Amoonguss?

I wouldn’t say that the team is all about sweeping. Normally I’ll start with Tyranitar and if the opponents starting with a counter to him I’ll switch out into something that can check it. They would probably switch out into a check for them and it would kind of be that kind of cycle. As I begin to get a feel of their team and see who they’ll switch into for who, I’ll start making predictions and getting KO’s.
I understand that they are a lot of loopholes in like everything I’ve just said I mean I’m no pro. Guess I’ll just wait for the full rate! But thanks so much for your opinion.
