Introduction

Hello everybody and I'm back with another team!

This time, it's based around :roaring moon:. Moon's already got a huge base attack stat of 139, then if you slap one of these bad boys on it ---> :choice band: then all of a sudden it's the ultimate breaker. All of a sudden half the team's done: the breaking part, so all I needed to do was work out the defensive core: so that's what I did.

:Roaring moon: :Unown question: :Unown question: :Unown question: :Unown question: :Unown question:

We of course started with moon, for it's awesome breaking power and speed, and can also pivot if needed. This thing is our main breaker and does wonders for the team, making up three quarters of the offensive core.

:Roaring moon: :tauros paldea fire: :clodsire: :Unown question: :Unown question: :Unown question:

Blaze tauros and clos are our main defensive Mons to cover anything that outspeeds moon, and WA clod beats :walking wake: and gren, while tauros beats meow and gambit

:Roaring moon: :tauros paldea fire: :clodsire: :magnezone: :Unown question: :Unown question:

This team originally magnezone to pair with moon, but it didn't work out that well.

:Magnezone: ---> :Gholdengo:

I realised ghold would be better as a garg check, valiant check, wincon, status/ trick absorber and overall a good glue Mon.

:Roaring moon: :tauros paldea fire: :clodsire: :Gholdengo: :corviknight: :Unown question:

I added corv as it helped with hazards with defog. It's also a sturdy reliable pivot, that really helps out moon.

:Roaring moon: :tauros paldea fire: :clodsire: :Gholdengo: :corviknight: :hydreigon:

Hydreigon was the last Mon I added, as it gave the team speed control and another pivot, as well as another ground immunity

The Team

:Choice band:

:choice band:
Roaring Moon @ Choice Band
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Bug Steel / Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- U-turn

moon was of course the first Mon I added, it's insane attack and speed alone let's it in this spot. STAB crunches can just sweep itself since dark is an awesome offensive typing. Most people expect this thing to set up one way or another, which let's you just take their team out on Mon at a time.

We've still got coverage in EQ and iron head for fairies, ice types, steel types and whatever else, and U-turn for pivoting between team mates. You can go for either tera steel or dark, tera dark gives you a boosted crunch, but steel is better defensively and powers up iron head.

:Heavy duty boots:

:heavy duty boots:

Tauros-Paldea-Blaze @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Raging Bull
- Earthquake
- Rest / Protect

This thing surprised me. It's got decent physical bulk with intimidate and is a good status spreader. It hard counters meow and gambit, and does decently well against most of the other physical attackers in the tier, especially after tera flying. Raging bull and EQ are good attacking moves that hit a wide variety of Pokémon for SE or neutral damage, and raging bul can remove screens if needed.

You can run lefties and protect if you don't want to become set up fodder if you go to sleep, but boots and rest is more reliable to most situations, especially since your weak to SR after you tera.

:Leftovers:
1679853445562.png
:leftovers:
Clodsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Recover
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge / Toxic
- Stealth Rock

WA absorb clod is our main special sponge, and WA helps with gren, rotom and especially :walking wake:. Tera fairy is also to help against ww, letting it become immune to Draco.

Clod is our hazard setter, and forms a good core with the rest of the defensive Mons. Stone edge is nice to get the jump on tera flying ghold, volc, and any other flying types, but toxic is more reliable and helps out moon.

:obviously: :covert cloaks:

Gholdengo @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Make It Rain

I know this guy and exact set has been on my last few teams, but he's just too good. The typing helps against valiant especially, as well as about 1 million other things. I swear this thing is the new gen 4 jirachi.

Anyways, this thing is a solid glue Mon and helps to force progress versus fatter teams, and tera flying has lead to many sweeps in tusk's face. This thing also helps as a status absorber and trick blocker, which is very annoying for the team.

:Leftovers:
1679859165690.png
:leftovers:
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Defog

Corv is our main physical wall, as it checks most of the tier's threats. It acts as this team's hazard removal, as well as a pivot for this team's offensive core.
Not much else to say here apart from it's running tera flying instead of ground like I normally do to make the tusk MU slightly better.

:Choice scarf:
1679859523343.png
:choice scarf:
Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn
- Flash Cannon

Now I know what your thinking "Poke Nerd! This is the second choiced dark dragon with u turn dark STAB and tera steel + a steel move what are you thinking!?"
And I'm not quite sure myself :smogonbird:. But this thing is still useful as a strong special attacker that'll outspeed most other set up sweepers even at +1. Dark STAB as a mentioned earlier is an awesome offensive typing, and Draco is useful to KO any unsuspecting opponents.

I'm free to any replacement scarf Mons to use.

Threats
:sv/rotom wash: :sv/Gholdengo:

Only scarf variants, as tricking my walls is not ideal. Sending ghold to block a trick is risky as it can be blasted by a shadow ball into oblivion. Vs rotom, go hydrei, now I know revealing scarf is not ideal and neither is getting blasted by tera fairy blast (which is rare I'll admit) but it's your best play that you won't be severely punished by.

:Sv/great tusk:

You know you're in trouble when you're threatened by the most common Pokémon in the tier. I'm not just talking one variant, not matter the set it's still annoying. It's manageable though. Any of the tera flying Mons can tera and then punish, but defensive walls are dark/ dragon duo.

Replays

Please note: most of these replays are pretty low ladder gameplay because of a weird banded tusk team I tried out that went horribly, and trust me you don't want to see it :row:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-1830201781 ---- any easy game versus psyspam, really shows how the team operates

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-1830192786 a very quick battle very stall MU ( never thought I'd be saying that) that ghold shines in and just sweeps.

I'll try to add some longer battles soon.

Conclusion
I like where this team is going, but it definitely needs some support from you guys! I hope you can help be improve this team, or take it higher than I have managed to far, I'll update you on my peaks. And as always, thanks in advance!

Now use roaring moon or this guy will haunt your nightmares.

I've been playing around with a tailwind team build and if you want to get *saucy* turn your moon into a full hp full atk mon (it has surprising hp bulk). Then give corv tailwind with uturn as a pivot and all of a sudden you have a bulky monster with huge attack that still out speeds everything. Granted this works better if you are able to have a different hazard remover than corv... Cool team though. If I think of any changes you could make in the future I will be sure to let you know
