[OVERVIEW]
Utilizing Adaptability and its good Speed tier, Basculin is a good offensive threat in the metagame, being able to function as both a strong physical and special wallbreaker and outspeeds common offensive threats such as the Silvally formes. Unfortunately, the tier is full of common Water immunities such as Vaporeon, Toxicroak, and Heliolisk, which prevent Basculin from spamming its STAB moves frequently; outside of using its STAB moves, Basculin lacks in damage output. While it takes a bit of support to use, once the Water immunities are dealt with, Basculin can use its high damage output to wallbreak efficiently.

Superpower is Basculin's preferred coverage option in order to deal with certain Water-resistant and Water-immune Pokemon like Arctovish, Heliolisk, and Guzzlord; it can also do decent damage to physically defensive Vaporeon. Aqua Jet is used to revenge kill faster threats such as Archeops and Talonflame. Ice Beam is an alternative to hit opposing Grass-types like Tangela and Alolan Exeggutor. Basculin appreciates partners that are able to deal with Vaporeon, which shuts down Basculin. Heliolisk is a great example, and it appreciates Basculin's ability to deal with special walls like Gigalith and Assault Vest Guzzlord. Basculin welcomes entry hazard support from Mesprit, which enables it to increase its wallbreaking capability. In addition, Mesprit offers slow U-turn support in order to help Basculin switch in safely. Mesprit also provides Healing Wish support, increasing Basculin's longevity. Both Heliolisk and Mesprit can also form a VoltTurn core with Basculin.

[SET COMMENTS]
Ice Beam is Basculin's best coverage option, allowing it to hit opposing Dragon- and Grass-type Pokemon such as Silvally-Dragon and Tsareena, as well as certain Water-immune Pokemon like Toxicroak and Heliolisk for good damage. Flip Turn lets Basculin get free damage on its incoming switch-ins like Lanturn while maintaining offensive momentum, which helps its teammates. Toxic is essential to cripple non-Heal Bell Vaporeon and Lanturn. However, locking into Toxic has its drawbacks of forcing Basculin out versus Steel- and Poison-types like Togedemaru and Weezing. Toxicroak is a nice partner for Basculin as it is one of the best Vaporeon checks; Toxicroak is able to set up freely on it due to being immune to Toxic and Scald. In return, Basculin handles Pokemon like Palossand and is also able to bait in Weezing, which Toxicroak struggles against. Other Pokemon that can take advantage of Vaporeon like Whimsicott are good teammates for Basculin. Defensive partners like Assault Vest Guzzlord are nice to handle the strong Electric-types in the tier like Heliolisk and Galvantula, and it punishes incoming switch-ins with Knock Off chip damage, which is vital for Basculin to secure KOs.

Hydro Pump is Basculin's strongest Water STAB and deals massive damage to anything that isn't a resist or immunity. (common knowledge, remove)Ice Beam is Basculin's only coverage option, allowing it to hit opposing Dragon- and Grass-type pokemon such as Silvally-Dragon and Tsareena; as well as (certain)Water immune pokemon like Toxicroak and Heliolisk for good damage. Flip Turn lets Basculin get free damage on its incoming switchins like Lanturn while maintaining offensive momentum, which helps its teammates. Toxic is essential to cripple the common Water immune Vaporeon, which walls Basculin completely and pressure it to use Heal Bell which can enable teammates like Heliolisk to come in freely. (doesnt heliolisk already come in pretty freely on vaporeon)Heliolisk is a nice partner and one of the best Vaporeon checks in the tier and is efficient at taking care of Vaporeon because it takes no damage from Scald. (you already mention heliolisk in the last set, find another example)Other partners that abuse the high usage of Vaporeon like Whimsicott are good teammates for Basculin. Whimsicott is able to use Substitute to bypass Toxic attempts while using Encore to shut it down. (this is kinda random, remove)Defensive partners like Assault Vest Guzzlord are nice to handle the strong Electric-types in the tier like Heliolisk and Galvantula and punishes incoming switchins with Knock Off chip, which is vital for Basculin to secure KOs.

Toxicroak is a nice partner for Basculin to have, as it is one of the best Vaporeon checks, being able to set up freely on it due to being immune to Toxic and Scald. 2/2 when this is done. also capitalize pokemon --> Pokemon just to make GP's job easier + cut down on the fluff
