Okie dokie, here's my current in-game team. It's main purpose is to beat one of my mates. I don't have much knowledge on his team (it's secretive bussiness), but I do know he has a Scizor and possibly Ninetails, Torterra, Lucario and Gallade. But Scizor really is the only Pokemon I know he definitely uses.
Here was my thinking:
I wanted certain moves, types and a few Pokemon:
Pokemon:
Magmortar
Garchomp
Bronzong
1 Sweeper
3+ Walls
Moves:
Toxic Spikes
Spikes
Perish Song
Healing Moves
Stealth Rock
Types:
Ghost
So, as you can see there wasn't a whole bunch of strategic thinking that went into the team. I'm open for suggestions on replacements for Pokemon, their movesets, what to use as a starter, their EVs, etc.
Without further ado ...
Magmortar Buuburn
Nature: Modest
Item: Choice Specs
Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpAt, 252 Spe, 4 SpDef
- Overheat
- Focus Blast
- Toxic
- Thunderbolt
My starter. Why is he my starter? Well, I don't really know. I couldn't pick the obvious starter in my team.
I chose Overheat over Fireblast, Flamethrower and Lava Plume. Did I make the right choice?
Bronzong The Tin Man
Nature: Sassy
Item: Leftovers
Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 86 Att, 80 Def, 92 Spe.
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Hypnosis
- Gyro Ball
Wasn't sure whether to use hypnosis or explosion? Opinion?
Garchomp
Nature: Jolly
Item: Choice Scarf
Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 HP
- Dragon Claw
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Crunch
Forgot Outrage was an egg move. Is it worth getting even though I've already EV trained this one? How hard is it to get Outrage and the right nature with breeding?
Tentacruel
Nature: Calm
Item: Leftovers
Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP, 120 Def, 136 SpDef
- Surf
- Sludge Bomb
- Ice Beam
- Toxic Spikes
Wasn't sure what to use out of Rapid Spin, Knock Off, Sludge Bomb and Ice Beam. It really came down to me thinking that Rapid Spin and Knock Off could possibly be wasted. I'm not sure how extensive my mates knowledge is, so yeah.
Mismagius
Nature: Dunno? Help?
Item: Leftovers?
Levitate
EVs: Dunno? Help?
- Pain Split
- Perish Song
- Mean Look
- Shadow Ball/Protect/Taunt/Will-o-Wisp
I haven't yet got Mismagius, but I'm keen to test it out. I've placed it ahead of Dusnkoir and Spiritomb for a few reasons. If I was to use Dusknoir, I would need to breed for at leas 2/4 moves and the correct nature. No thanks. I've never bread anything, but that sounds like an awful lot of work. Also, Mismagius has Perish Song, covering one of my 'wants'.
I'm not at all sure how to go about deciding it's EVs, Nature or the final move.
With base stats of:
60 HP/60 Att/60 Def/105 SpAtt/105 SpDef/105 Speed
I'm guessing I want a nature that decreases attack and increases one of it's strengths. That means Timid, yes? I'm also guessing I want EVs in either HP, Def, Sp Att, Sp Def or Speed. If I go with Shadow Ball, then I'll want some in Special Attack. If I don't use Shadow Ball, then I wouldn't go with any in special attack, and could then use a nature that decreases Special Attack and increases a strength - Careful. But, I could also go for Calm which raises Special Defense and lowers Attack.
Protect could help with Perish Song + Mean Look.
Will-o-Wisp is nice to have, same goes for Taunt.
There's still a lot open here, eh?
Weavile
Nature: Jolly
Item: Choice Band
Pressure
EVs: 40 HP, 252 Att, 216 Speed,
- Ice Shard
- Night Slash
- Brick Break
- ???
This final slot was VERY open. It started with something like: Blissey/Skarmory/Weavile/Togekiss/Salamence/Rhyperior/Snorlax/Swampert/Scizor. I then eliminated Salamence, Swampert and Togekiss, Snorlax and Blissey.
Skarmory has Spikes and Roost, very useful. As far as I was concerned, it was a very high chance for the final spot.
Weavile has always been a Pokemon I've liked, and it's upcoming Platinum sprite makes it purely awesome. On top of this it makes one awesome Choice Band Revenge Killer. It had a good chance for the last spot.
Rhyperior was an outside chance. Personally, I couldn't see him doing much that couldn't already be done by Garchomp. However, I do love Rhyperior as a Pokemon.
Scizor... Probably the only thing keeping him out of my team is the fact my mate has him.
So! I went for ... Weavile!
I couldn't get Pursuit on Weavile because it's an Egg Move, and as I've said, I've never tried breeding, but trying to get a certain move and nature doesn't sound fun.
So, that's my team. Give your opinions, suggestions, criticism and compliments! Remember, I'm open for replacing Pokemon, moves, EVs, Natures, etc! Rate away!
Thanks!
