What up everyone this is my unofficial official first OU team and its...well you can decide for yourself.
Landorus-Therian @Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 atk / 252 spd / 4 hp
Jolly nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
- U-Turn
This is my physical attacker on the team that doesn't require a setup. As of now, he's my lead, but i don't really have a set led tbh. I tried to go for coverage with this guy so here's a quick breakdown of his moveset. Earthquake is his main STAB move of course, and Stone Edge is there to threaten any flying opponents. Superpower is there to take out guys like Tyranitar and i guess anything else that it can quickly kill. And then of course U-Turn gives him a way to hightail it out against any of his threats. Unfortunately, I'm still quite new to the competitive battling scene so i don't know much about the more popular checks and counters for most pokemon, but that's what you guys are here for...right? haha
Conkeldurr @ leftovers
Ability: Iron Fists
EVs: 252 atk / 252 spd / 4 hp
Adamant nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Ice Punch
- Bulk-Up
Dis dude is my setup bulky physical sweeper. Again, since idk really what else to talk about I will break down his moveset (which all of you probably understand, but I'm trying to get to 3 lines about description here). Pretty much all I'm doing is boosting 1 to 2 times with Bulk-Up and then healing off any damage he sustains with a few Drain Punches. He's got Ice Punch for anything he can't hit with Drain Punch and Mach Punch to pick off weaker opponents. I also find myself switching into him as a pseudo-wall given his natural bulk, but that might be a horrible habit I need to break.
Togekiss Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 hp / 252 spd / 4 SpA
Modest nature
- Air Slash
- Nasty Plot
- Roost
- Heal Bell
It's so cute! Togekiss is my setup bulky special sweeper/pseudo-cleric. His flying type helps me avoid Earthquake (which is a big problem for my Heatran). Basically, this moveset - like most of my other movesets - is ripped straight off smogon so it doesn't account for his fairy typing given that the moveset suggestions are still for B/W. Just like Conkeldurr, Togekiss boosts with Nasty Plot and then heals off damage with Roost. He then sweeps with Air Slash, which gives him a 60% flinch chance and can prolong his usefulness. Heal Bell is there to both assist the rest of my team and keep him from being stalled.
Greninja Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 spd / 252 SpA / 4 hp
Timid nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Toxic Spikes
First off, lets take a minute to bask in the glory of the Shiny Greninja.................... Yeah, he is that cool. Greninja is the special attacker on the team that doesn't require a setup and he's the closest thing I've got to a late game sweeper. For this reason, I'm contemplating removing Toxic Spikes for Extrasensory. Also, many teams easily deal with Toxic Spikes. However, if you ever can get them set up, they can obliterate a team so I've kept them on there for now. Hydro Pump is the other one I'm contemplating removing. It's the most powerful move he's got, and it's great...when it hits. Surf or Scald are my two other options, so if I could get a suggestion on which moves to keep that would be swell.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpD / 248 hp / 8 def
Calm nature
- Roar
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
Heatran is the Special Wall of the team. He's the only one able to use stealth rock and is a great buffer for pokemon trying to kill Togekiss using Steel or Poison moves. He also has roar to phaze setup pokemon as well as take advangate of Stealth Rock (and possibly Spikes and Toxic Spikes). Lava Plume gives him the ability to burn anything that tries to stall him if I don't get Toxic Spikes set up. Lastly, his ability Flash Fire gives me a lot of help whenever someone attempts to kill my Ferrothrn with a Fire-Type move.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Spikes
And rounding off my team is my physical wall, Ferrothorn. He also rounds off the entry hazards, meaning my team has access to all 3 entry hazards. Of course his biggest weakness is fire, but thanks to Heatran with some good predicting I can keep that off of him. I don't really know how else to describe him...he needs a reliable way to re-heal. As much as I love the big guy I could probably stand to get rid of him if necessary.
Threat List:
I haven't been playing with this team or Showdown long enough to come up with one...I hate Scolipede with Baton Pass?
Closing Comments:
Thanks to everyone who reviews this team! I've got a long way to go when it comes to teambuilding and I know you guys at smogon are more than happy to help. If anyone out there is willing to take me under their wing when it comes to building teams, I'd greatly appreciate it. If there's any sort of classes/sessions I need to or should sign up for please let me know what I should do going forth. I'd love to get in some tourneys, but I've got a long way to go haha. Also, if this team needs a whole new approach, don't be afraid to totally rip into it. I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was!
