Baste that Turkey, OU style!

Intro: After realizing my last team wasnt as thought out as i had hoped, i decided to spend the better part of a day putting another one together and synchronizing the pokemon together better. The team is very offensive based, with not too much defense aside from a few bulkier pokemon. I do, however, have 3 flying pokemons which puts me at a weakness for stealth rock, which is kinda a burn. i thought about putting a dualscreen wish jirachi in as support, but decided against it. Anyway, here it goes.

1. Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Nature: Jolly
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Taunt
-Stealth Rock
-Stone Edge
-Ice Fang

Like i said before, i have 3 stealth rock weaknesses because of flying types, so i figured i needed a stealth rocker of my own. Even if im up against another stealth rocker i can taunt and attempt to kill them with my blazing speed. Ice fang is there in case i can spare him until later in the game for dragons, and stone edge can take care of flying leads, including the occasional Zapdos.

dpmba214.png

2. Heracross @ Flame Orb
Nature: Adamant
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
-Megahorn
-Close Combat
-Night Slash
-Stone Edge

Heracross is a monster on the field, he hits incredibly hard. I decided to shy away from the swords dance because i dont like the set up hassle when using him, i like to just throw him out and rampage. Close combat takes out Tyranitar and Night Slash is there for ghosts. Stone Edge is for Gyarados and Salamence if i dont want to use a different pokemon. Overall, he has quite a bit of coverage and an amazing attack skill when coupling burn with guts. He also can absorb status for me aswell, although unfortunately he is slightly frail.

dpmba065.png

3. Alakazam @ Choice Specs
Nature: Timid
252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
-Psychic
-Focus Blast
-Signal Beam
-Trick

Alakazam is a great set in aswell, he couples a monstruous special attack, with great speed, making him one of the most deadly sweepers in OU. He can usually 2HKO Blissey because of the help of the magnificent stealth rocks. In battle, i often find myself bringing him out towards the late game. Oddly ill let zapdos get an attempted special sweep in and then break this puppy out, which often goes unheeded when their lategame team is pretty battered, even though hes perfectly capable for a full sweep himself. Ive used this team twice so far and in one of the battles, he took out 3 pokemon alone, although 1 was weakened quite a bit.

dpmba149.png

4. Dragonite @ Life Orb
112 Atk / 196 SpA / 200 Spe
Nature: Rash
-Superpower
-Draco Meteor
-Flamethrower
-Roost

This was actually a recomended change in my last thread, so i thought id give him a spot here to try and shine if he works out well. This set allows Dragonite to get rid of Blissey, Heatran, Tyranitar, slower Dragons, Skarmory, Forretress and more, reliably breaking a large portion of stall. Roost gives you reliable recovery. The EVs give him 246 speed (outrunning Jolly Tyranitar) and 332 Atk (a guranteed OHKO on Bold Blissey), while the rest is dumped into SpA for more power. I like the fact that he has roost so he can recover for some later use aswell. Hes also been quite invalueable as if theres no walls to break down specifically, he still batters through many pokemon.

dpmba145.png

5. Zapdos @ Leftovers
Nature: Bold
248 HP / 228 Def / 32 Spe
-Thunderbolt
-Heat Wave
-Roost
-Hidden Power Grass

Zapdos allows be to bring in a little more bulk in addition to the dragonite. Thunderbolt is great for water types, while heat wave hits hard aswell. The leftovers allow him to build up his health in addition to roost. Hidden power grass is for swampert, as i noticed he doesnt have a lot stopping him. He allows for some defensive action, while still being able to hold his own.

dpmba260.png

6. Swampert @ Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SpA
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam
-Surf
-Roar

I was very hesitant in choosing swampert. I knew i didnt want something that stealth rock cud hurt really bad, and that cud also absort some electric. I decided swampert+Zapdos over Jirachi+Jolteon and im hoping that its the wiser choice lol. Swampert actually has a lot going for him in this mixed set. He takes care of dragons, which until now really didnt have anything ridiculous to fear. Hes bulky aswell allowing for some more defense, which compliments his roar because he can move anything he doesnt like outta the way. With stealthrock i can even roar a few things around to get a little extra damage. Surf is a great stab to have because i also noticed i didnt have any water action going for me. Earthquake provides for coverage and a hard hitting move that rocks the house.

Closure: Overall i like the gyst of this team, im just a little unsure of on the last 2. I was deciding between them and jolteon+support jirachi and im hoping i made the correct choice. im kinda also worried about the fliers thing, but im okay with it so long as i have stealth rocks up.

I understand there are many things mixnite can break as a wall breaker (not a sweeper) than mixmence. However, in general...if you are looking for a mixed sweeper not a wall breaker...you should give mixmence a try as these guys will rip through...well a lot. Also, you mentioned that mixnite can take care of slower dragons. There aren't that many at all that are slower than dragonite in its tier. Actually, I believe in OU it's the slowest as flygon, salamence, and even kingdra outruns nite. Also, just liek you said, the metagame seems to shift towards offensive spectrum and away from the stall/defensive at the moment so this guy would not be as useful as he is when there are many stall teams to break through.

hmm as far as it goes it wouldnt add any more offensive openings for the enemy because of typing. I feel like i am however losing some bulk in making that switch but i definately am interested in testing it out.

4. Salamence @ Life Orb
Nature: Naughty
232 Atk / 24 SpA / 252 Spe
-Outrage
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast

I decided to replace dragonite for salamence because he is a lot faster and hits harder, and i feel like the added offense makes up for the defense that dragonite had. Outrage is beastly after a dance, and same with earthquake. I reserve fire blast for skarmory and a few others.

dpmba385.png

5. Jirachi @ light clay
Nature: Careful
252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SpD
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Thunderwave
-Wish

this jirachi has been doing amazingly well surprisingly. I usually Twave them and set up my screens. I also have him for wish support to get some added healing in aswell. hes the most defensive pokemon on my team and he works pretty well with it.

Nature: Relaxed
240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SpA
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam
-Surf
-Roar

After testing the team all today, ive noticed i have problems with a few major pokemon, mainly Bronzong and swampert. I feel like if one of my key pokes gets knocked out, like swampert or salamence, its really far for me because i lose a lot of coverage i had. Im looking to extend my coverage beacuse ive noticed thats my main weak spot. After all of today, this team set me at 9:6 in wins and losses.

Have you thought about using a Scarf Flygon instead of Salamence? It gets reduces your Stealth Rock weakness, gives you a scout.

If you're not using a setup move, Choice Band or Scarf is probably the preferred item for Heracross. Possibly with Pursuit over Night Slash.

I also don't like Alakazam at all; he's too frail to switch in on anything or take a hit, and he's generally just worse than Gengar nowadays in terms of coverage and movepool.

yeah i was thinking about using flygon because of that and he has electric weaknesses, idunno what set id prefer though. night slash comes in handy for certain pokemon but ic an test it. And about alakazam hes extremely hit and miss. Ive had him where ive tore through like 3 of my opponents team, or had him where hes been killed before he can do anything. i was thinking gengar aswell, or possibly jolteon if thatd fit idunno, with hidden power grass hed help with swampert a lot.
