Bathroom Stall (OU Stall)

So, I normally run a relatively offensive team, but decided, after not enjoying my recent battles, to create a stall team, but, the thing is: I've no idea if it's any good...

Hopefully you guys can help with that.

It all begins with

A Rocky Start (For my opponent)

Gliscor
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Impish
Item: Yache Berry?
EVs: HP/Atk/Def 252/4/252

Moves:
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Roost

So it begins. I picked Gliscor out of what I guess was half laziness and half personal preference, I had used this set with Ice Fang instead of Rocks on another team, and it had performed well, so I added it onto this team because it always took hits pretty well. I decided to use Stone Edge instead of Ice Fang because I have a lot of other Dragon coverage on this team anyway. Roost is there because without it, Gliscor's staying power dramatically decreases. I chose Sand Veil because TTar is quite common and Gliscor doesn't really mind attack drops that much.

And next comes:

The Hopeful One

Vaporeon
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Relaxed
Item: Leftovers
EVs: HP/Def/SpAtk 188/252/68

Moves:
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Wish
- Protect

This set is pretty standard, but I have one major change. I chose Relaxed because I bred this at the same time as another poke on this team, but found out that this one had a great SpAtk IV, so I decided this would be my Vaporeon. Because of the -Spd nature, I decided that Spd investment was a waste and that giving it an extra punch would help because on a stall team, I figured I should take power where I could get it, therefore, the SpAtk EVs.

But what would a stall team be without:

A Toxic Personality

Umbreon
Ability: Synchronize
Nature: Relaxed
Item: Leftovers
EVs: HP/Def/SpDef 252/96/160

Moves:
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic
- Payback

So, this is the pokemon that I was talking about when I mentioned breeding the Vaporeon. Another relatively standard set with a major variation. I chose Relaxed because in order to do as much damage as possible with Payback, I decided that no EV investment and a -Spd nature were necessary. With the same idea as the Vaporeon, I decided to redistribute the EVs from Spd to Umbreon's defensive stats, so that it would take as little damage as possible.

Next up is

Mr. Tall, Dark, and Ghostly

Dusknoir
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Impish
Item: Leftovers
EVs: HP/Atk/SpDef 252/28/228

Moves:
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Sneak
- Pain Split
- Fire Punch

I picked Dusknoir because I feel like I needed a Special Wall that could actually hit back, and seeing as how one of the biggest sweepers the aren't covered by the rest of the team is Scizor and a wall the isn't covered by the rest of my team is Forretress, I decided to have it carry Fire Punch. I chose Shadow Sneak to finish off any weakened pokes before they heal/hit back. Will-O-Wisp is there to compensate for the lack of EV investment in Def. Pain Split is there because without it Dusknoir dies quickly, and it helps to kill Blissey.

And next:

The Fiery Temper

Heatran
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Modest
Item: Choice Scarf
EVs: HP/SpAtk/Spe 4/252/252

Moves:
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Explosion
- Dragon Pulse

I felt that I needed this pokemon because without it this team wouldn't have much power. Perhaps it's just me being used to an offensive team, definitely comment on this guy in your ratings, if you have something to add/subtract/remove. I chose Modest because this was initially going to be a Taunt Supporter and wouldn't carry Explosion, so I didn't want to lower my SpDef unnecessarily, so I chose Modest over Rash. Dragon Pulse in in there because I didn't have HP Grass/Ice. I have Explosion to take out Blissey.

And finally:

The Devil Nurse

Blissey

Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Bold
Item: Leftovers
EVs: HP/Def/SpAtk 148/252/108

Moves:
- Ice Beam/Thunderbolt
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
- Toxic

I picked Blissey because I felt that my team was too light on the special side and what better way to remedy that than to add in the most fearsome special wall in the game. The first moveslot changes from battle to battle, depending on what I think I'll need, hence the two moves. If you think I should pick a permanent move and have a convincing argument, then please tell me. I chose Toxic because I felt that with Blissey's ridiculous bulk that not being able to Toxistall alone would be a waste.

Thanks for reading this and please comment and rate.

Just a skim through, But NP-Infernape really wrecks your team, if you allow it to get a Nasty Plot boost, It can OHKO most of your pokemon barring Blissey that tank which I know from personal experience. Flamethrower OHKOes Dusky and Umbreon, Grass Knot for Gliscor but 2HKOes Vappy iirc, Vacuum Wave deals with Heatran, and Blissey gets done due to it being a massive set up fodder. I'd recommend dropping Vaporeon for perhaps a screen support Latias with Roar for Pseudo hazing those nasty stat uppers.

Just a quick comment;
Walrein is an extremely good Pokemon for stall, It has personally screwed me over many times, as I was running a team with no Taunt. Basically, if you're battling a team with no Taunt and you have Hail up Walrein will own that team. Paired with Abomasnow this thing is lethal. Here are sets for both Pokemon

Walrein Analysis
"Stallrein"
Walrein@ Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
Bold Nature (+Defense - Special Attack)
EVs: 220 HP 240 DEF 48 SPEED

- Protect
- Substitute
- Blizzard / Surf
- Roar / Toxic / Earthquake

Abomasnow Analysis
Abomasnow@ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
Timid Nature (+ Speed - Attack)
252 S.ATK 252 SPE 4 HO

- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Blizzard
- Focus Punch / Protect

Please do NOT run a hail team when the top pokemon in standard is Scizor. This is a really good example of really bad advice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
About the team itself... Its not exactly doing what a stall team is SUPPOSED to do.

Lets look at some common aspects of a stall team that you LACK:
Spikes
Toxic Spikes
Cleric Move such as Heal Bell or Aromatherapy
Rapid Spin
PsuedoHazing or Hazing
Persih Song

Lets look at some of the things you DO have:
Toxic is present as is WoW
SR is on the team
Wish support is present

-You should be able to tell quickly that you are looking much less like a "stall team" and more like a group of walls placed on a team together.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HERE IS WHERE I OFFER SUGGESTIONS:

Gliscor:
TBH not the best lead OR wall in the world. maimed by Lucario with Ice punch, maimed by Gyara. What I'm getting at is he is not doing enough for you... This needs to be removed altogether imo.
Now lets think of some common leads:
Metagross
Jirachi
Aero
Azelf
Swampert
- All of these leads see liberal amounts of use. Swampert is probably the one that is the most helpful to you tbh. It does several things.
1) will usually get up SR or kill Aero (your better off attacking and only once, then switching if it doesnt taunt)
2) Can be ev'd in such a way to take a ANY hit from a Mixmence and OHKO w/ ice beam (this is important)
This is a fairly typical lead for the standard stall team, but hey why fix it if it isnt broken.
Something like:
Swampert @ Leftovers
Relaxed
252 Hp/ 212 Def./ 40 Sp. Def.
SR
Ice Beam
Protect/ Rest
EQ
That covers Mixmence to a degree and allows for SR support. 2 important things. This could also be a Hippowdon easily enough at the cost of some leftovers recovery on you, but you gain extra damage on some threats every turn.

The next issue is your lack of secondary entry hazards.
There are 2 ways to do this:
1) Run a Forretress that can both Spikes AND Rapid Spin
OR
2) Run a Skarmory and a Starmie for Spikes and Rapid Spin
-this is largely your choice. However, the right Starmie build can beat Mixmence on a revenge kill AND beat Mixmence which is another very common stall breaker in standard.
so either
Forretress @ Shed Shell
Careful
252 Hp/ 4 Atk./ 252 Sp. Def.
Explosion/ Rest
Rapid Spin
Spikes/ Toxic Spikes
Payback
- this Forretress lets you beat Latias with refresh, but I'm going to suggesst something else for that.

OR RUN
Skarmory @ Shed Shell
Careful
252 Hp/ 20 Spe./ 226 Sp. Def.
Brave Bird
Roost
Whirlwind
Spikes
-Really just a reliable spiker. Can even spike on Blissey's Flamethrowers and Roost off the damage.
&
Starmie @ Leftovers
Timid
136 Hp/ 156 Def./ 216 Spe.
Surf
Recover
Rapid Spin
Ice Beam Thunderbolt

With that out of the way we need look at blocking rapid spin attemps. Rotom is really the best option here as it also counters several physical threats such as Gyarados and Scizor.
Run something like:
Rotom(either the washer to try to fake out pursuiters or the oven for overheat mindgames) @ leftovers
Bold
252 Hp/ 208 Def./ 40 Sp. Def./ 8 spe.
Rest
Sleep Talk
Thunderbolt
Shadowball

Now the extra is out of the way... Sp. Wall. is next
Blissey @ leftovers
248 Def/ 252 Sp. Def./ 8 Spe.
Protect/ Aromatherapy
Flamethrower Seismic Toss
Toxic
Wish/ Softboiled
- Basically if you want to run Forretress AND rest run the moves behind the /. Otherwise run the first choices.

Lastly (or next to lastly if you run Forry). You need a physical wall.
Gyarados @ Leftovers
Impish
252 Hp/ 248 Def./ 8 Spe.
Rest
Sleep Talk
Waterfall
Roar
- This lets you have another check on infernape. Also beats most Lucario, Scizor etc. etc.

The last thing... If you run forry run a perish song Celebi otherwise you would lose to thing liek Crotomb as the last poke.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basically this is the standard for stall in OU. You can look at these suggestions and pick and choose or make slightly different choices. However, try to make sure you cover those thigs I talked about at the begining of this post...

Please do NOT run a hail team when the top pokemon in standard is Scizor.
I was just making a suggestion..
I set it's entirely up to him but those two Pokemon are a pain in the ass to non Scizor teams and can and will stall Scizor if Stallrein has a SUB up.

Before I reply to your comments, I just want to say one thing: My comments will be brief, but it's because I had long, thought out comments, but Safari crashed just as I was finishing, so I'm starting again.

I'll look into this, as I was lukewarm on Gliscor to begin with, however, Dragon coverage isn't a priority, as I have a lot on this team. I'll probably do Hippo as I hate Swamp, and Sand would be useful.(More residual damage)

The next issue is your lack of secondary entry hazards.

I'll definitely do this, as I like Forry, and he'll fulfill a useful role on my team. But who should I take off?

Skarmory @ Shed Shell
Careful
252 Hp/ 20 Spe./ 226 Sp. Def.
Brave Bird
Roost
Whirlwind
Spikes

I'm not sure if you didn't see him, I've got Dusky as burn-support and spin-blocker.

Now the extra is out of the way... Sp. Wall. is next
Blissey @ leftovers
248 Def/ 252 Sp. Def./ 8 Spe.
Protect/ Aromatherapy
Flamethrower Seismic Toss
Toxic
Wish/ Softboiled

Not entirely sure what this is supposed to be, as I have double wish-support. I currently have a Blissey that works pretty well, so I think I'll keep my current Bliss. I also don't see what coverage Flamethrower brings to the table, as you said it doesn't scare Skarm, Bronzong has good SpDef, and Celebi will just Leech Seed and it's game over. Please help me understand this choice, because, as of now, I see no function.

OK, I like this idea, as I'm a fan of Celebi, but as with forry, who should I take off the team.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the useful rate, and for giving me lots of suggestions. I also appreciate the warning about Hail-Stall, as I thought that was a good idea.

Okay...
Really you only have room to leave Dusknior and Blissey from your old team to fit in the rest of the things you liked.

Dusknoir does not counter Scizor, Gayara, or much of anything like Rotom can... He is just plain and simply better. It lets you run off annoying Skarmory. Basically, he is alot more useful the DUsknoir in this meta, but you are free to use whoever you want.

Ok, after thinking about it, I'm going to switch Vaporeon, Heatran, Dusknoir, and Gliscor for Celebi, Forry, Rotom-H, and Hippo (respectively), with Hippodon being my new lead. Please comment on these ideas before I put them onto my team.

If you posted the whole new team and the move spreads that would be really helpful so I could help you more, but I got some quick tips.

First off, I would either throw a Scarf on Rotom or you could just go with a defensive Sleep Talking Rotom.

Forry might work great if you use a set of Toxic Spikes/Spikes/Payback/Rapid Spin so that you can hit those spin blocking Ghosts. A standard set can work fine too.

Try a Perish Song Celebi and see if that works out.

Very quick rate, sorry I couldn't add more, REALLY BUSY TODAY. My senior graduation day is today!! :p

Thanks a ton, Solidus. I just need to track down a decent Rotom, and the EV training can begin.
