Baton Pass (UU)

This is only for UU

To start with, this WAS a baton pass team, but people pointed out to me the weaknesses and it has been drastically changed.

To start with, i am new to the metagame and i have made eight teams already and they all sucked =[ So since i have a little trouble with this i figured i would post it here. This is my eigth team in 3 days. All of which have failed pretty badly, so i decided to go with a baton pass team because i have seen a few used efficiently in UU already.

Electrode

Evs: 252 Spd, 252 Atk, 4 Hp
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Soundproof
Item: Focus Sash
Attacks
- Explosion
- Taunt
- Screech
- Thunderbolt

Electrode was chosen as my lead for a few reason. The biggest is the fact that he has 416 speed with his Evs and nature. This makes him an ideal choice to taunt another lead, which prevents a stealth rock setup and a common Uxie trick start. The reason for the Atk evs are so i get an optimal explosion, and in UU its uncommon for a started to be resistant to normal. Another bonus about the electrode is that it is a common raindance lead from what i have seen so i hope it fool the opposing person for a second.

Espeon

Evs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 Hp
Nature: Timid
Ability: Synchronize
Item: Expert Belt
Attacks
- Psychic
- Wish
- Hidden Power (fighting)
- Baton Pass

Ok let me explain the baton pass first. The reason for the move is to avoid pursuit, so if i believe the opposing pokemon has pursuit it is just safer to baton pass out. Expert belt it there so i am not losing 10% hp every turn like i would with life orbs. Wish is in case espeon has done all it really can and i have another pokemon that is better off with the Hp boost.

Scyther

Evs: 252 Spe, 86 Atk, 208 Hp
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Technician
Item: Focus Sash
Attacks
- baton pass
- agility
- swords dance
- aerial ace

Scyther has a couple uses in UU. Though I couldn't decide wether or not i wanted to pick scyther or absol for my baton passer. This is for baton passing to my Hitmonlee only. Scyther can outrun basically any UU pokemon with an agility under its belt and if I feel its safe to get in a swords dance, then my Hitmonlee will be even more powerful, which is basically what my teams offense is based around. Aerial ace is just there incase i get stuck in a taunt or I have a chance for a kill

Hitmonlee

Evs: 40 Hp, 252 Atk, 216 Spe
Nature: Adament
Ability: Limber
Item: Focus Band
Attacks
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Blaze Kick

Hitmonlee rules UU with its amazing offense. The only one that can compete is Blaziken, who i almost thre on my team instead of hitmonlee. Once Hitmonlee gets a swords dance under its belt from my Scyther it has an attack of 744 with its Choice band. And if my scyther can give it an agility, hitmonlee can sweep just about anything even if it is stuck in one move... Though being stuck in one move has messed me up before, so i don't know if It is worth it even if i can get a swords dance under its belt.

Regirock

Evs: 252 Dfn, 252 SpD, 4 Atk
Nature: Careful
Ability: Clearbody
Item: Lum Berry
Attacks
- Hammer Arm
- Stone Edge
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

The traditional Rest talker. The ev spread gives Regirock 436 dfn and 328 spd, which makes him a threat to anyone. The lum berry gives me a free rest without putting myself asleep. I picked stone edge over earthquake for STAB and hammer arm because Registeel is super common in UU.

Miltank

Evs: 252 Hp, 136 Dfn, 120 SpD
Nature: Impish
Ability: Scrappy
Item: Leftovers
Attacks
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
- Curse
- Body Slam

Well is my favorite wall, she can heal my other pokemon if they overcome status effects, which as many know is always a major threat and game ender. Plus with a few curses under its belt Miltank can deliver a strong bodyslam. Milk Drink is to help me set up as many curses as i can because once I do Miltank becomes a tank. Though this wasn't my first pick for a miltank set. I previously had one that consisted of thunderwave and seismic toss. Seismic toss was to help it take down walls, and thunderwave is self explanatory. If anyone has a better set-up then this new one i am trying please let me know it.

Any advice is very much appreciated =]

My main problem with your team is your lead. Even with a protect, you cannot hope to hit/sweep anything with that moveset. A Metagross can easily Bullet/Thunder Punch it, or vice-versa, meaning that even if you get a hit in, you'll be KOed before you know it, unless you have Baton Pass; one Speed Boost won't really make much difference, anyway.

Just a nick pick, but by Banding your Hitmonlee, the opponent can switch in a counter leaving your your stat boosts useless. Maybe try a Life Orb or Expert Belt.

Expert belt or Life Orb

Ill try these my only fear is that, hitmonlee isn't strong enough to take a hit if it only gets an agility from my scyther... Thats why i have choice band on it

Okay this team is suffering from trying to do too many things in the same team. Also, you are restricting your main sweepers choice of move thanks to the Choice Band; a LO would be a much better option.

More than that though, I think that you should take into consideration the fact that you dont NEED to BP to sweep. Scyther is more than capable of being a fearsome sweeper in UU, and you are kind of wasting his stand alone potential. Same for Yanmega. It is one of the most potent sp. sweepers in UU, and a NP boost isn't really going to be helping it all that much.
-----------

Another issue is your selection of typing. Both Syther and Yanmega are x4 weak to SR, and Togetic loses 25 percent as well. You have no spinner, and neither do you have wish support.
----------

Miltank doesn't really need to be a sweeper since you have plenty of those as well... Why dont you pick one specific sweeper you wish to focus on, and then we can help(or just me if no one else will help) you focus on setting up that one particular pokemon's sweep, because as it is, you lack threat removal, and therefore can be walled, phazed, etc. and all those stat ups wont help against that. Either post here or pm me what you want to focus on, because this team is spreading itself too far out as it is.

you could focus on a pure BP team, but thats a big change as well... so let us know something and Ill help as best I can.

Burton basically covered it. You truly don't need two Baton Passers for both special and physical. If you focused more on one, that would essentially open up two spots on your team for other pokemon. As soon as you get out sped, somebody in your team is going to go down and then it will act like dominoes as your baton passers aren't going to be much help alone.

I think that this isnt really a Baton Pass team: more of a "lets get some stat boosts to some sweepers" team. Hitmonlee should have Life Orb instead, as it gives you the ability to switch attacks and still retain loads of power.

I'm noticing that you have a big ice, electric, and rock type weakness with your team. Try putting on a pokemon that can counter all three of these types. (hint: This pokemon's name is Lanturn).
Heres the set:

Lantrun @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
40 Hp / 136 SpA / 252 SpD / 80 Spe
Calm nature (+Special Defense, -Attack)
~ Surf
~ Thunderbolt
~ Ice Beam
~ Toxic

This can kill Rock types with Surf, isnt affected by Electric type moves thanks to Volt Absorb, and can get rid of Ice types through Toxic stall. Try it in place of Spiritomb (who doesnt do much, and counters Yanmega threats better).
