Battle for Wesnoth!

www.wesnoth.org

Just out about it from a friend. I've messed around with it for a week, and so it far it's been really fun. It's open source with a built-in player made add ons server, so it basically endless possibilities. The official campaigns have kept me pretty interested and there's many of them. Multiplayer looks like it could be great. There's even Multiplayer campaigns!

Anyways, I was just letting you all know that this is out there is any of you want to try it, or if any of you have played it already, some matches could get going.

EDIT: Forgot to talk a little bit about the game <.<. It's a hex-based SRPG; however, it really doesn't play like very many SRPGs I've played before, as it focuses more on strategy rather than tactics, and unit lack "stats." I think the closest thing to compare it to would be the pen-and-paper Classic Battletech, without ranged attacks....and with people, not giant robots.

Woah, I racked up so many hours on this game when I had a bad computer running linux.

The campaigns are really hardcore, it's a lot like Fire Emblem. Levelling your characters and fleshing out their jobs was the best.

Also battling seven different people on the one computer was epic too!

This looks cool actually. Do you think it's anything like the Advance Wars series?

I love Fire Emblem, Advance Wars and other SRPG's like Final Fantasy Tactics, so maybe I'll give it a try. :)

It's a little bit like a mix of Advance Wars and Fire Emblem. While it doesn't have the whole "death means you're gone for forever" thing, it also isn't like Advance Wars were you can simply throw units away, as you usually have pretty limited resources and leveling units up can turn the tide of the battle.
I find the whole thing to be a little more strategic than those games simply because of the way the battle system works.

Also, it's hex based, instead of squares like in Advance Wars and Fire Emblem.
