Background 1: Honeyfruit was an innocent flower who loved to dance. She would dance with the wind all day in her fields, waiting for someone to be able to out-dance her. The only one who'd ever been able to match her moves was a handsome young cherrim with an easy smile.
Merit 1: Cheerfulness - Honeyfruit is forever finding the joys of life, and looking for excuses to be silly.
Demerit 1: Naivete - Honeyfruit always assumes the best of others, sometimes to her own detriment. She doesn't think anyone could bear to hurt others, because she assumes they think like she does. Sadly, they do not.

Background 2: Flower was a wanderer who followed the sun. He loves seeing the sights and floating with the breeze. He figured his best way to travel the world was to just follow an aspiring trainer around. While journeying with his trainer, he met the prettiest lilligant in the world—maybe the one that could get him to settle down.
Merit 2: Well-Traveled - This pokemon has been around the block. He knows about many, many different oddities.
Demerit 2: Distractable - This pokemon is easily distracted by things, and will often juggle multiple ideas at once. Sometimes this leads to conversational mixups.

Fort Colorcastle

Roleplay Segment 1

It was supposed to be just another day for Fort and friends. Him and his friend group of Pokemon Trainers decided to go hours outside of town to hike, train, and have a good ol' time. None of them could drive unfortunately, and forcing a Pokemon to fly them all to the spot would be inhumane. So, they rented a bus. Fort's friend said he knows a guy who knows a guy, and that guy made a call, and that call resulted into a rickety, rusted yellow bus rolling up on the group. The brakes were engaged with a hissss and the door slowly creaked open to the driver. Fort Colorcastle, standing at the front of his group, caught a glimpse of this strange dude. One eye, no eye patch, and a tattered captains hat were what stood out. His skin was flimsy and clung to bone, although his hair was jet black, making it hard to place his age. He wore an all black suit with tattered sneakers, and after a few moments, he gestured to Fort and friends to get on.

"Are you the guy?" questioned Fort, and the response was a silent still gaze. With a shrug, Fort turned to his friends and said "This is the guy!" and they piled in. After the last young trainer stepped on the bus, the doors shut and shut quick, contrary to its opening speed. The listless driver was suddenly moving much quicker, moving a few levers and shifting the gears into drive in an instant. The tires screeched, and the bus took off before everyone was safely fastened.

The scenery turned from city scape, to mountainous terrain as they continued out, to dry, barren plains as they continued further. Fort, tired for some reason, started to doze off. He wasn't fully asleep, but, he closed his eyes for a matter of minutes. Jolted awake by a bump in the road, he smacked his head against the window. The bumpy road was sudden, and dust kicked up outside, obscuring the view from all passengers. The ride was so bumpy that Pokeballs started falling out of their trainers' pockets! Pokemon started filling the bus along with their trainers, and the bus was suddenly very crowded as well as turbulent.

About an hour after the balls got unintentionally triggered, the bus slowed to a stop. The dust settled at that moment as well, and the first words the bus driver spoke: "We're here..." The group filed out of the bus, and were astounded to find such a strange area! There were trees they've never seen before, stretching higher above them than most buildings! The blades of grass were huge - and sharp! The air, thicker somehow, and the sky contained more than just clouds - islands as well! Floating islands overhead mesmerized the group. As everyone was marveling at their location, Fort Colorcastle took charge to confront the man: "Where have you taken u-" Before he could finish, the doors slammed shut once more, and the bus took off forward. Fort and a few others started chasing him, and a few trainers were about to send out some pokemon to assist in the chase. Before anyone could make any meaningful action, the bus disappeared from view. Not in any magical sense - it just dropped straight down.

After everyone caught up with the direction the bus took, they realized what happened - the bus was launched off a cliff hidden by the thick vegetation. The chasm was so deep and steep that the trainers were dizzy, although that could be attributed to their circumstances finally dawning on them. Everyone was confused now, the wanderlust wearing off as suddenly as the bus took its nose dive.

There was only one trainer who kept their composure in this situation: Fort Colorcastle. He knew they were in a foreign, unfamiliar land. And the only one with answers is the bus driver at the bottom of this chasm.

Roleplay Segment Details:

Roleplay Segments precede each battle. They give the ref a chance to flex their creative muscles and create an overarching story for the challenge to follow. The exact procedure for a Roleplay Segment is as follows:

Using minimum 1 paragraph, the ref should describe the setting and situation, then present the challenger with an obstacle. The obstacle should generally match what the ref rolled on the Event chart, but the specifics are up to the ref's discretion. (For example, the Event chart might dictate that a large object blocks the challenger's path. Whether that object is a fallen tree, a sleeping Snorlax, an invisible forcefield, or anything else is up to the Ref's imagination.)

After the ref posts their piece, the challenger must respond to that obstacle by using their own Pokemon. The challenger's response is valid if it meets the following criteria:
The response must be at least 1 paragraph in length.
The challenger's team must react to the obstacle.
Each Pokemon must contribute at least one (1) thing from the following list:
A move it knows.
Its Ability.
Its Pokedex entry (from any of the official Pokemon games).
Its biology (from Bulbapedia).
Its Background.
Its Merit.
Its Demerit.
For each Pokemon, at least one (1) of the things that it contributes must be new within that challenge. (For example, if a Pokemon used Water Gun on a previous Roleplay Segment, then Water Gun on its own will not be a valid contribution for the next Roleplay Segment.)
The challenger and their Pokemon must stick together as a group.
Note that the challenger's team must react to the obstacle, but they need not overcome it. For example, suppose the obstacle in one RP Segment is a steep chasm that the challenger needs to cross. The challenger sees that one of their Pokemon has the Demerit of "being scared of heights." In their response, the challenger writes that their Pokemon becomes anxious and refuses to cross the chasm. Even though it does not resolve the problem put before the challenger, this response is valid because it describes a valid reaction to the obstacle.
