Mismagius @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam / Hex
- Mystical Fire / Hex
This spooky spirit sends shivers down the spines of BDSP OU offensive teams! Ghost is a wonderful offensive type in BDSP OU, as many teams anchor on Ghost-weak special tanks like Celebi and Mew and lack Ghost-resistant Pokemon. While Mismagius is physically frail and hates Knock Off, it isn't without defensive merit, as its Speed and immunities let it revenge kill Garchomp, Lucario, Gliscor, and Nidoking. Shadow Ball will be used the majority of the time to blast neutral targets like Scizor, Gliscor, and Heatran that cannot withstand it long-term; Special Defense drops exacerbate this. Thunderbolt is nice for Water-types, Dazzling Gleam hits Weavile on the switch and severely threatens Garchomp, Mystical Fire deters Scizor from setting up or gaining momentum, and Hex punishes Gliscor and other statused foes. Mismagius lacks the power to immediately break through bulkier teams, so it wants entry hazards, especially Spikes, to weaken them. In return, it protects them against Rapid Spin Starmie. Mismagius also appreciates physical attackers like Infernape, Lucario, Scizor, and Azumarill that threaten Blissey and specially defensive Clefable while checking Weavile.
In this BDSP Circuit Playoffs replay, Skittyrox's Mismagius finds ample opportunity to barrage Banbadoro's offensive team: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8bdspou-2259232284-p5t8e4se4u8yq69xtpqsrphsx820pnnpw
