Hello all! I haven't really done competitive for a good amount of time, so bare with me. I have been using Mega-Mawile since release and theorizing with it since announced. Been interchanging quite a few things, but I feel like Speed Passing is the best use of MMawile's strength.
In-Depth
Mawile (F) @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 160 Atk / 252 HP / 96 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Fang
- Iron Head
The main attraction herself, Mawile. Basic idea is to hold off on going Mega until you can prepare for a sweep, via Scolipede, so you can use Intimidate to its fullest. With the use of Scolipede, I no longer need to have Swords Dance on Mawile. This allows for the increase in coverage. 96 Spd EVs puts it on the 160 speed tier, with the rest dumped into Atk.
Dragonite (M) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Outrage
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
Generic WeakNite with Extreme Speed for revenge killing. I decided on Dragonite because I obviously wanted another mon to be a pass target, while also giving different coverage options. Dragonite bypasses EQ, which would devastate Mawile. I've been on the fence between Roost and Dragon Dance but without a Spinner, Roost seems the best in order to utilize Multiscale.
Scolipede (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Impish Nature
- Protect
- Swords Dance
- Toxic
- Baton Pass
One of (if not) the most important pieces to the team. Scolipede's Speed Boost allows MMawile to keep up and Dragonite to out speed practically anything. Toxic allows me to get rid of opposing walls while I setup. Main objective is to switch in on a wall or physical attacker, take a hit, and proceed to set up for the sweep. Extremely vulnerable to Taunt, making good use of him is usually the deciding factor.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Timid Nature
- U-turn
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
Greninja is just and all round fantastic pokemon, with Protean being amazing. Strong special attacker and great for ridding the various Deoxys that roam. I feel like people assuming I have Grass Knot has been a big help in several battles. Greninja's main use comes in by getting rid of physical walls and any other troublesome mon that may be a threat.
Rotom-Wash @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 232 HP / 56 SAtk / 220 Spd
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest
The Washer allows for another safe switch into an EQ should I have Mawile out. Lum Berry allows me to take a status and keep moving along (if the opponent has a Smeargle), or a nice addition to Rest. Burning the opponent can become an opening for a Scolipede setup or just help take care of a threat. All EVs are from last gen, but I'd prefer to see the more commonly used pokemon before changing it, since I haven't played too much.
Mamoswine (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Endeavor
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
Finally, my hazard setter and lead (unless I go for a counter). This guy is probably the one I'm most concerned about. The Sash/Endeavor combo has put in some work but since most of the time he is just a suicide lead, I'm starting to wonder if I should go Deoxys-Speed. Everything about this Mamoswine is standard. Rocks are a must with Talonflame and Volca running about.
Final Thoughts
Thanks for reading through this and would appreciate any help possible. I believe I managed to peak at 1900 with this team, but fault most of the losses with my own incompetence. Happy Holidays!
