"Hide" hides some pokemon from your team in team preview. Example: hide=3. The team preview will only show 3 pokemons, from both teams instead of 6.
"Hide" only works with the team view OR if its value is equal to the total members of a team. In this case, if you have 6 pokémon on each side and shadow = 6, then there is the normal process of choosing the first pokémon on each side but both are unaware of the opposing team.
If you use "hide = 3", 3 pokemons are hidden in team preview
(to be defined if the positions would be random, as
? / Jirachi / ? / Decidueye / ? / Bouffalant
or if they would always be together
Rotom-Fan / Jirachi / ?/ ? / ? / Bouffalant
or whether they would always be from beginning to end (first, second, third, fourth, fifth, etc.) or from end to beginning (sixth, fifth, fourth). Examples:
hide = 1
? / Jirachi / Melmetal / Decidueye / Comfey / Bouffalant
hide = 2
? / ? / Melmetal / Decidueye / Comfey / Bouffalant
hide = 4
? / ? / ? / ? / Comfey / Bouffalant
hide = 1
Rotom-Fan / Jirachi / Melmetal / Decidueye / Comfey / ?
hide = 2
Rotom-Fan / Jirachi / Melmetal / Decidueye / ? / ?
hide = 4
Rotom-Fan / Jirachi / ? / ? / ? / ?)
Or the unknown positions could be random without being together necessarily like
? / Jirachi / Melmetal / ? / Comfey / ?
but aesthetically it could be cuter if the unknown pokemons were together I think.
That seems like a nice thing to me. The minimum hide value = 1
This idea can be adapted, it's just a prototype, but the general idea is to be able to hide pokemons while showing some, except for the case where the 2 teams are anonymous and you choose the first one to enter the field (6 Pokemon for each side, shadow = 6).
