Mixing It Up

Hi everyone. This is my attempt to make a balanced team using both the OUs and UUs of this generation. It took a while to figure out how to work this out, and I determined that it would be best that I picked some bulky pokes from the lower tiers who are able to take blows from the hard hitters of the OUs. So without further ado, here's the team.

The Standards

Ferrothorn.png

I chose to lead with a ferrothorn because most people think that it's going to set up hazards. Because of this, my ferrothorn is more physically based. If the opponent uses taunt, I can attack it head on with one of ferrothorn's powerful STAB moves. And as most leads nowadays seem to be decently fast, gyro ball will wreck anything that isn't resistant to steel. Conversely, if a lead attacks physically, Ferrothorns iron barbs may activate and get rid of any sash it might have.
Its main forms of recovery are from leech seed and leftovers. And with Curse, it is able to last much longer and take physical hits.

Ferrothorn with Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 252 S.Def, 4 Atk
IVs: 0 Spe
Nature: Sassy
Ability: Iron Barbs
Leech Seed
Curse
Power Whip
Gyro Ball

Yes, it looks like a clown carrying giant stone slabs...but you can't argue against the fact that Conkeldurr is one of the best bulky fighting types out there. Conkeldurr is the main guy to deal with steel types. Bulk up boosts its defense and attack, both of which are naturally good. He has a lot of bulk with little attack investment because his main purpose is to stay in there and use bulk up while gaining recovery from lefties and drain punch. Mach punch is my only priority move, and it packs a punch. Stone edge is for coverage, and drain punch is for recovery.
Conkeldurr counters Tyranitar, Ferrothorn, and Excadrill. And though he may not be winning any beauty contests, he is definitely one of my favorite pokes.

Conkeldurr with Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 100 Def, 156 S.Def
Nature: Careful
Ability: Guts
Bulk Up
Mach Punch
Drain Punch
Stone Edge

The only poke from Gen 1 on this team is probably the most valuable one. Vaporeon and its massive HP stat makes it the primary wish passer on this team. This team has no spin support, so it will be plagued with entry hazards like spikes and SR. This makes it extremely important that wishes can be passed by a sturdy wall. Vaporeon also has the only ice type move on this team in Ice Beam in order to counter Gliscor and dragons. Scald is there for STAB and for the possible burn chance.

Vaporeon with Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 S.Def
Nature: Bold
Ability: Water Absorb
Wish
Protect
Ice Beam
Scald

Its in-game cry sounds like a whoopie cushion and it's a fish that isn't part water type. Stunfisk is probably the strangest fish you'll ever see as it's apparently a poisonous fish with qualities of an electric eel while looking like a flounder. Hmm...
Stunfisk is my sleep absorber and my electric immunity on the team. I was debating between stunfisk and Lanturn (For Heal Bell), but I decided that a sleep talker was a bit more necessary as this team doesn't have many pokes weak to SR.
Its discharge is used for paralysis as this team is slow as dirt...Scald is for the burn chance, and toxic for...well...toxic. It's pretty gimmicky, but that's what I love about this thing.

Stunfisk with Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 128 Def, 128 S.Def
Nature: Bold
Ability: Static
Sleep Talk
Scald
Discharge
Toxic

Last generation, Togekiss was the paraflincher that pissed everyone off. This generation didn't seem to improve it by much, but I decided to take a different approach. Togekiss is extremely versatile in that its movepool is great. Its speed is mediocre, so I decided to make it a scarfer. Scarfed togekiss can surprise some people and be a great revenge killer. With its ridiculous S.Atk stat, Togekiss can demolish Ferrothorns with flamethrower and continue to flinch other threats with Air Slash. Aura sphere is there for coverage while Shadow Ball can be used to possibly beat Reuniclus, as the slimeball is a huge threat to this team.

Togekiss with Choice Scarf
EVs: 252 S.Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP
Nature: Modest
Ability: Serene Grace
Flamethrower
Air Slash
Aura Sphere
Shadow Ball

Gardevoir is often overlooked as it just isn't as fast as its other psychic counterparts. Its psychic typing is also a huge disadvantage as Tyranitar checkmates it with a STAB pursuit. But I needed another Wish passer in case Vaporeon went down, and Gardevoir looked like a good choice. As the only fighting resistance on the team, I gave it psychic so that it could deal with fighting pokes. Protect is pretty standard for most wish passers so they can heal themselves. Taunt was added on to prevent any stat-uppers from trying to set up while I'm wish passing. Though probably not the best choice, Gardevoir certainly does its job well in lower tiers, and may fare well in OU if given a chance.

Gardevoir with Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Ability: Trace
Wish
Protect
Psychic
Taunt

Synergy.
Ferrothorn is weak to fighting and fire, which can be remedied by switching to gardevoir and vaporeon.

Gardevoir is weak to bug, dark, and ghost. Togekiss can take ghost and bug while ferrothorn can be a reliable switch for ghost and dark.

Vaporeon is weak to electric and grass, which can be resisted by ferrothorn, stunfisk (Electric), and togekiss (Grass).

Togekiss is weak to rock, electric, and ice. Ferrothorn resists rock and electric while vaporeon resists ice.

Conkeldurr is weak to psychic and flying, meaning gardevoir and stunfisk are the best guys to switch to.

Stunfisk is weak to ground, water, grass, and ice. Togekiss is immune to ground and resists grass. Vaporeon resists water and ice.

I hope this team was somewhat entertaining for you to look over. If anything, it's pretty ridiculous as I took out some move options because I don't have access to Gen4 movesets. Criticism is welcome.

Hey there,

Quite the original team. I wouldn't even try to use Stunfisk in OU lol. It may be original, but most people aren't (for good reasons). This team is very weak to Thundurus. Nasty Plot 3 attacks version will easily past through this team. 4 of your members will get severly dented by Thunder, while Stunfisk dies to Hidden Power Ice and Ferrothorn gets smashed by Focus Blast. This situation can easily be solved though, simply by replacing Stunfisk with Gastrodon. Gastrodon walls Thundurus and rain in general so well that it isn't even funny. Here's what you should use :

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Storm Drain
Calm
EVs : 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
-Surf / Scald
-Ice Beam
-Toxic
-Recover

Wait a minute though. This team still has weaknesses among the top 10 used OU. Another big threat to your team is Latios. A Latios carrying Hidden Power Fire can heavily damage everything on your team, while simply switching out at your attempts to revenge kill it, only to come back after and hammer you again with its powerful STAB Draco Meteor. If you wanna keep the fighting resist Gardevoir provides you, I suggest swapping Vaporeon for SpD Jirachi. While it gives you a Water immunity and a Fire resist, if you use Gastrodon, it will patch up these weakness. Here's SpD Jirachi's set :

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Serene Grace
Careful
EVs : 252 HP / 216 SpD / 40 Spe
-Iron Head
-Body Slam
-Protect
-Wish

Now you must be aware will have an easy time sweeping this team. Since your only Fight resist is Gardevoir, it will only have to spam Close Combat around, and use X-Scissor on Gardevoir. This is not an ideal situation by any means. Maybe you should swap Togekiss' item with Gardevoir's? as a scarfer, it will be able to take Terrakion's Close Combat and surprise it with a powerful Psychic. Togekiss is also able to pass Wish and is a lot bulkier than Gardevoir.

Never even think about using that fish if your serious, Also 0 atk evs are going to make ferrothorn a powerful attacker. Your conkedur can't do shit to ghost, I would recommend payback. Two wish givers is too much

Hello,
What's up with Stunfisk? It has sleep talk but no rest so maybe you should consider on having rest instead of hoping that the enemy has a sleep-inflicting move. I would prefer Lanturn over Stunfisk because Lanturn can get STAB on Scald and Discharge. Also Lanturn can have Heal Bell like you said but that could cause problems to your Conkeldurr with guts when you finally get a status problem on him and want to keep it for the boost. Also, Lanturn's ability Volt Absorb makes you immune to electric moves and restores 1/4 of your health which is better than just being immune to the move(Stunfisk).
