Best Combination of F/W/G Core

Best F/W/G Core?
Okay, so i tried standard vaporeon instead of kingdra and its doing amazing.
thanks for the help guys.

This IS my First RMT on Smogon.
This team is based around F/W/G Core and the 3 best pokemon the work together the best imo are Celebi Heatran and Kingdra
They all cover eachothers weakness and with mence gone they will wreck havoc on most teams.
(Team has been tested on PO and Shoddy and i usually win 4 times before i lose 1 (sometimes hax sometimes not))
Now onto the team...

Heatran @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: HP 4/ ATK 0/ DEF 0/ SPE 252/ S.ATK 252/ S.DEF 0
Nature: Mild
- Overheat
- Stealth Rocks
- Explosion
- Hidden Power (Grass)

Great part of the F/W/G core imo. Takes all attacks aimed at celebi and vice versa. Overheat for quick damage to KO some pokes or weaken them alot.Stealth Rocks for well stealthrocks. Explosion is just finish off what the rest of my team cant handle or to get a quick kill before dieing. Hidden power grass is there for better coverage on most leads (swampert hippodown). Maybe Earth Power over Hidden power grass to hit Nape harder and other heatran harder. What are your opinions?

celebi.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: HP 252/ ATK 0/ DEF 0/ SPE 36/ S.ATK 220/ S.DEF 0
Nature: Timid
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power Fire
- Thunder Wave
- Recover

The Grass type of the F/W/G Core. Celebi and Heatran Work perfectly together blocking each others weakness's. This was a lead untill Faladran told me heatran will work better as a lead so i switched them. Now its a standard tinkerbell set. ONCE i use this poke more on PO i will make this description a bit longer.

machamp.png

Machamp @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: HP 252/ ATK 252/ DEF 0/ SPE 6/ S.ATK 0/ S.DEF 0
Nature: Adamant
- Dynamic Punch
- Bulk up
- Stone Edge
- Pay Back

Standard Bulkup machamp. Hes mainly used to get rid of threats the rest of my team cant handle (ghosts in particular) and catch people off guard (no pun intended) with bulkup. When most people see a machamp they will be like sub 3 atk or 4 atk LO but when they switch (most of the time into a physical atker) they will see a bulkup. Most of the time there jaw drops as my atk increase and defence increases to skyhigh levels after 1 bulkup. Dynamic punch alone will cause switches with the confusion and with bulkup he can take hits from both sides even w/o sp and def ev's.

kingdra.png

Kingdra @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: HP 24/ ATK 252/ DEF 0/ SPE 232/ S.ATK 0/ S.DEF 0
Nature: Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Outrage
- Waterfall

I needed a dragon and a pokemon to fit in the F/W/G Core and Kingdra fitted perfectly. I love his 1/4 resist to fire and water atks. it gives him a free sub and or dragon dances if predicted correctly. my team cant really handle some fire and water types (suicune / heatran) and kingdra walls them amazingly (besides some weird sets). i was thinking lum over lefties but on PO lefties helped me more then lum so i sticked with it.

zapdos.png

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: HP 248/ ATK 0/ DEF 228/ SPE 32/ S.ATK 0/ S.DEF 0
Nature: Bold
- Roost
- Discharge
- Heatwave
- Hidden Power (Ice)

Oh Zapdos, the Bulky attacker. Does serious damage with no ev investment and also takes hits like a beast. Zapdos tanks the hits and hits back hard. Zapdos is one of the best ou's hands down and having most of the ou's physical attackers makes this set amazing. Bolt Beam combo destroys almost every pokemon (magnezone and lanturn being the only 2 to tank it)and heatwave to finish off the rest. I would use hp grass but with celebi having leafstorm i dont really need it. And plus on PO and shoddy SO MANY flygons switch into me to get 1hitko'd by hp ice. so hp ice over hp grass. Discharge over Tbolt to assist machamp on handleing faster pokes.

jirachi.png

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: HP 4/ ATK 252/ DEF 0/ SPE 252/ S.ATK 0/ S.DEF 0
Nature: Jolly
- Iron head
- U-turn
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch

Flincher Annoyer Scarf'd, the works. Revenge kills alot of pokemon and can finish off big threats at high hp. i was thinking Trick over Fire punch because of zapdos and heatran taking care of the pokemon that get destroyed by fire attacks. and also ive been having some troubles with curselax so trick might be a good option, what do you think?? U-turn for easy predictions and Iron head for a good flinching stab move. I was thinking of using a different revenge killer instead of this beast but idk jirachi got me out of jams sometimes and also got me into jams some times (magnezones setting up)

Team is pretty dece only loses to some baton pass teams. (gliscor baton pass to metagross)
so help me out with the ev's natures moveset and maybe a poke or 2
Threat List
Aerodactyl- machamp can handle it with dynamic punch and jirachi can 1hitko it with iron head

Azelf- Jirachi's u-turn and Machamp using payback

Blissey- machamp d-punch

Breloom- celebi resists both stab and same with zapdos. heatwave can ko

Bronzong- heatran can hurt it with fireblast and it cant hurt zapdos unless explode

Celebi- jirachi's u-turn

Dragonite- zapdos can take hits and hit back with hp ice. jirachi can ice punch and kingdra can ko if it outspeeds

Dusknoir- i gotta play around with machamp and heatran to take it out. depends on the moveset

Electivire- earthpower from celebi or tran. jirachi can flinch hax it, machamp can d-punch it

Empoleon- zapdos can handle it and if not then celebi can earthpower and t-wave. Machamp can hit it with d-punch

Flygon- death by hp ice zapdos. outrage does around 55% to zapdos

Forretress- heatran or zapdos can use there fire atks on it.

Gengar- payback from machamp or iron head from rachi

Gliscor- hidden power ice from zapdos or icepunch from rachi. Kingdra can hurt it aswell

Gyarados- heatran can outspeed and ko with hp electric. and zapdos can take hits and kill with discharge

Heatran- my own heatran can take it and kingdra can waterfall as can machamp can d-punch

Hippowdon kingdra can hurt it and celebi can ko with leafstorm

Infernape- kingdra can waterfall it and celebi can take a hit (occa berry) and ko with earthpower or t-wave

Jirachi- tricky. heatran can take scarf physical ones and celebi can t-wave to assist machamp to outspeed and d-punch spam

Jolteon- earthpower with celebi does the trick. if dead then heatran can ko with earthpower

Kingdra- my own kingdra or zapdos

Lucario- zapdos can take physical ones as machamp can ko with d-punch

Machamp- jirachi can annoy it and it cant hurt zapdos much.

Magnezone- heatran fireblast and zapdos can annoy with heatwave. machamp with d-punch will knock it out i think

Mamoswine - d-punch from machamp or waterfall from kingdra

Metagross- zapdos walls this completely with heatwave. if heatran outspeeds then ill use fireblast on it

Ninjask - annoying as a lead cuz celebi cant damage it. but otherwise sr and zappy can handle it, same with tran

Roserade - tran and zapdos can handle it but 1 will prob be put asleep

Rotom-A - machamp can hurt it with payback or ko if not then heatran can wear it down with fireblast

Scizor - zapdos and heatran wall it

Shaymin- jirachi's u-turn and zapdos's heatwave (beware of earthpower aimed at heatran

Skarmory- heatran with fireblast and zapdos's discharge

Smeargle- nothing that celebi cant handle as a lead. any1 of my pokes can ko or come close to it

Snorlax- ROYAL PAIN if machamp is gone. but if its alive then its all good. i might have to flinch hax it with rachi. if it gets to many curses its game over

Starmie- kingdra can tank surfs and zapdos can hurt it with discharge but i mainly go in with rachi and u-turn to kingdra

Suicune- zapdos can handle it but with calm minds up im screwed. Crocune cant hurt kingdra but offensive cune might bring troubles

Swampert- celebi will ohko. if not then machamp can weaken it with d-punch and zapdos can fake it out if they think i got hp grass

Tentacruel- zapdos can handle it and same with celebi. jirachi can annoy it.

Togekiss- jirachi can annoy it and zapdos destroys it

Tyranitar- machamp and kingdra can ko it jirachi can ironhead it to death

Umbreon- u-turn with jirachi and d-punch with machamp. watch out for curses.

Vaporeon- zapdos can handle it as can kingdra. machamp can d-punch it to cause wish spamming and confusions

Weavile - machamp resists both stabs same with tran.

Zapdos-hard to kill. my own zapdos can hurt it and heatran can also do heavy damage with fireblast

zapdos, snorlax, dusknoir, and jirachi are my biggest threats atm

Hey I got your message, cool team. Really the only big weaknesses I see are to stall, as you currently lack a significant stall breaker and SkarmBlissDos (the standard stall core) beats you all day. The only real stall breaker on the team is Machamp, who even still is stopped by Skarmory or Gyarados, it just dents them. I also think generally updating some sets would be useful. So, don't worry, I'm not going to replace any members!

First up, Heatran. That's a cool set and everything, but luring in Gyarados and Suicune probably isn't optimal for the team, especially when you consider that these guys aren't even really problematic for the team. I think a switch to a different Heatran set would do wonders for you.

485.png
@ Life Orb
252 SpAtk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Timid/Naive
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power (Grass)
-Taunt / Explosion

This set is probably one of the best stall breakers in existence right now, and is just a generally great sweeper that also really shreds balanced, fwg teams. Taunt or explosion is preference, taunt is definitely better for stall breaking but explosion has its uses for exploding on random things. Obviously is you run taunt, use timid and if you run explosion, try Naive.

Next up is Kingdra, which by no means has a bad set, but just an outdated-ish one. I think ChestoRest Kingdra is a lot more effective in our metagame and provides some better glue by being able to take hits better and also be able to afford to take them better (if that makes sense). Here's the set:

230.png
@ Leftovers
144 HP / 160 Atk / 40 SpD / 164 Spe
Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Waterfall
-Rest

More bulk allows him to check things more efficiently, and rest allows him to get around statuses as effectively as SubDD Kingdra, if not better. Again, has more bulk and can afford to take a beating because of his recovery. Not a lot to say here, I just happen to think this is a generally better set.

Last suggestion I have is Zapdos, and a small one. Try moving all of those defense EVs into special defense. This gives you a pretty reliable Shaymin counter, and can still handle many of the physical sweepers that trouble him. Also helps with Heatran if Kingdra's dead.

That's actually all I have, supremely solid team. Hope this helps.

Yes, Smith definitely meant Chesto Berry; it is essential to the set's effectiveness.

Hi Ludicolul! I think that this team is already quite solid, and therefore it doesn't need many major changes. I'm just going to make a minor recommendation of switching Heatran's and Celebi's positions. My reasoning behind this suggestion is that the prevalence of leads with U-turn makes it puts a lot of offensive pressure on Celebi from the start of the game. LO Heatran tends to be a great lead, so I think it would be worth trying out on your team. The set is basically identical to the one that Smith posted, with the differences being Stealth Rock over Earth Power and Overheat instead of Fire Blast, along with a Mild or Modest nature; this will give you enough power to OHKO lead Machamp.

If you decide to make this change, Celebi will then be out of the lead position. In that case, a more support-minded set with greater survivability could help your team out more. I'd like to suggest the following set:
251_30_0.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SpA / 36 Spe
Modest nature (+SpA, -Atk)
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power Fire
- Thunder Wave
- Recover

This is basically the Tinkerbell set from Celebi's analysis page, but with max HP EVs and Leftovers for greater durability. Thunder Wave will provide useful paralysis support for your team, and Machamp especially benefits from it. Grass Knot tends to be the best overall STAB Grass-type move in OU, although Energy Ball is a decent option as well. Hidden Power Fire will OHKO Scizor after it switches into Stealth Rock and prevents Steel-types like Forretress from setting up on you. Recover adds to Celebi's overall longevity, and often allows it to survive for a significant portion of the match.

Good luck with your team!

BUMP
HELP!!!!
with the changes you guys suggested ive been losing like crazy.
my PO rating went from 1400 to 1200.
anything else u guys can do to fix this team???

Well my favorite GWF combo in OU is Heatran, Shaymin, Vaporeon. Vaporeon provides wish, which looking at your team could come in handy, Machamp and Heatran love it. Shaymin I normally used to Subseed set, but you would lose your status inducer, up to you. And Heatran I used Sub-Toxic but yours could work just as well, something to maybe keep in mind.

Replace Celebi's HP fire with earth power so you can handle Heatran. All other members have some way of losing to it--Kingdra from dragon pulse, you own Heatran from earth power, and so on.

I also suggest a replacement of Kingdra with Vaporeon, as it can handle Heatran just as well, gets better recovery with wish+protect, recieves HP electric to handle Gyarados and Suicune, and pairs up rather well with Heatran better than Kingdra.

And finally, try resttalk Machamp over the bulk up version. It's just as reliable, having access to recovery (as your current Machamp won't take hits on the special spectrum as well), and replace Jirachi with the sub-t-wave set. The 2 form a very reliable core together. Celebi and Vaporeon aid to these two by dispatching off Hippowdon and Gliscor.
