Best of the OU, an OU RMT

This is a team I threw together tonight, and it's doing pretty damn good. I wanna know what you guys think about it.

The Lead

metagross.png

Metagross @ Lum Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 100 HP/252 Atk/152 Def/6 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch
- Explosion
- Stealth Rock

Pretty basic lead. He explodes on Swampert leads usually. He Bullet Punches those that live Earthquake on their Sash. Lum Berry for Roserade, and then I can either Earthquake Roserade next turn, or Bullet Punch it for damage. I like this lead a lot because he can come in later in the game and explode in other Pokemon's faces. Aerodactyl isn't a problem, as I can Bullet Punch it and come in later and set up Rocks. Azelf isn't bad either, because it either Tricks me a Scarf (which I don't mind), or Taunts me, in which case I Bullet Punch it to death.

Fire Powers, Activate!

485.png

Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse
- Earth Power
- Explosion

This guy is one of my favorites. He comes in on Fire moves aimed at Scizor or metagross, and throws them back in the Pokemons face. Dragon Pulse to outspeed Mixmence and come in on incoming Draco Meteors. Earth Powers for the Fire Monkey and Explosion to stop Suicune, Blissey, Swampert, etc.. All together, this guy has proven to be one of my favorites!

The Sweeper

gyarados.png

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt

Comes in on Scizors, Heatrans, and anybody else I feel is safe. Basically, after a DD, I rape anything Waterfall hits Super Effective on and anything with low Defense. Blissey can't do crap after a Taunt. Rotom is a problem here, but Heatran or Jolteon can come in safely.

The Scizor

scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit

This is a Scouter. This is a sweeper. This is a revenge killer. This is a wall sometimes. It's epic. Don't deny it. Basically, it U-Turns on most things, and Bullet Punches on others. Pursuit on Latias and ScarfGars. Superpower because I can.

The 2nd Sweeper

gengar.png

Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Protect

I saw this on another RMT, so I decided to try and use it. It's incredibly powerful, taking out most things. Focus Blast for Tyranitar and Lucario if it's got plenty of health left. Shadow Ball because it kicks ass. Hidden Power for Scizors, and finally Protect for scouting. If I use Protect, I can see what Scizors are using. If they use U-Turn, I use HP Fire. If they use Bullet Punch, I switch into Gyarados or Heatran. Pretty cool Pokemon if you ask me.

The 3rd Sweeper

jolteon.jpg

Jolteon (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Signal Beam

This color hurts my eyes. This Pokemon also hurts things. Thunderbolt hits HARD. Shadow Ball is for Latias and Gengar. Hp Grass is for Swampert, I dunno why nobody sees this coming. Signal Beam is a filler, it gets Celebi's on the switch in. I don't want Baton Pass, because I don't really need it.

Over all, this team has done great. I'm loving the Jolteon and Heatran the most. The only problem is its current record is 5-5, mostly because of some bad predictions. This is my first ever RMT, I hope you can help!

If someone runs enough speed on a gyarados to outrun jolteon after a dd, it'll basically 6-0 you. your jolteon is outsped and won't survive a boosted earthquake, scizor is set up bait, your own gyara is set up bait, gengar dies to waterfall and heatran and metagross have to explode on it to have any chance. this isn't a huge problem, but you could try replacing dragon pulse with hidden power [electric] on heatran, if you don't want to explode. just a nitpick. great team, good luck with it.

SpecJolt > LO Jolt just so you know. Yes, Jolteon is frail and can't handle hits anyway, but SpecJolt really rapes everything in OU except Blissey, who is getting a little less popular nowadays (to my knowledge). SpecJolt has raped so many teams with just Thunderbolt it's not even funny anymore.

I'll take your word that non-Bulky Taunt Gyara has been working. To me it looks wrong, but as I said, I'll believe what you say. Also, a little more overall bulk in the team couldn't hurt. I'm not saying it's a problem to be greatly offensive, but for security, a little bulk would be nice in Scizor and Gyara (Gengar and Jolteon have no chance to survive anything with pure defensive builds).

Other than that, your team looks pretty solid, but could use a SpecsJolt and, if you desire, a little more bulk in your brawn.

change the hp evs on scizor to 248,it let you switch into SR more often, also change the speed evs on gyarados to 236,with max speed and adamant you reach abour 392 after DD,dont outspeed anything really, with 236 you outspeed jolly weavile and that is also the maximun you outspeed running max speed, put the leftovers evs into hp,for scizor drop the last 8 where you want

Your team has problems against both DD Babari Tyranitar and DD Jolly Gyarados. Tyranitar can set up on a Fire Blast or Dragon Pulse from Heatran or a Pursuit from Scizor. Gyarados can set up on a Bullet Punch from Scizor or an Earth Power from Heatran. Both of these can be remedied by switching the items on your Gengar or by replacing a team member.

By switching Gengar's item to a Choice Scarf, you make it an effective revenge killer of both Gyarados and Tyranitar. With this change, you would want to change Heatran's item so you don't have three Choice items on your team, as that severely limits your team's fluidity. By changing it to a Life Orb Heatran, you keep Explosion along with having an increase in power.

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Timid / Levitate
4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
-Thunderbolt
-HP Ice

Shadow Ball is your STAB move. Focus Blast is to take down DD Tyranitar, although the accuracy is shaky. Thunderbolt allows you to take down Gyarados, while HP Ice can revenge kill Salamence.

With Heatran, change its item to Life Orb and give it HP Grass instead of Dragon Pulse. Your team has a slight problem with Swampert, and Jolteon doesn't want to switch into it. If you want, you can use an Expert Belt to bluff a Choice Scarf.

However, using Gengar as a revenge killer can you make your team Pursuit-weak. A secondary option is to use a Choice Scarf Jirachi as a lead to set up SR and to revenge kill. By replacing Metagross, it allows you to revenge kill both Tyranitar and Gyarados.

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Jolly / Serene Grace
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
-Iron Head
-Stealth Rock
-Trick
-Thunderpunch

Iron Head is your STAB move along with hitting Tyranitar for heavy damage. Stealth Rock is necessary because you are replacing Metagross with it (if you choose to do so). Trick allows you to cripple any opposing leads or to disable any annoying Pokemon, while Thunderpunch can revenge kill Gyarados if you choose to keep the Scarf later on in the game.

With that change, change Heatran to a LO set with HP Grass also, for the same reason as before.

Some small EV changes. First, make Scizor's HP EVs 248, as it will let you switch into SR 8 times and still live. Add the other 4 EVs into whatever. Second, if you choose to use Metagross as a lead (and use Scarf Gengar), go with an EV spread of 252 HP / 236 Atk / 4 Def / 16 Spe. The 16 Speed EVs are to outspeed 12 EV Metagrosses, while the others are the standard Lead Metagross EVs.

Finally, I'd recommend you not using Specs on your Jolteon. That would leave it so that your team has 3 Choice users. Instead, I'd make it into a LO Charge Beam set. Just replace Signal Beam with Charge Beam and continue using Life Orb. This allows you to have a secondary deadly sweeper.

Good luck!
