ORAS OU Best Wallbreakers NA

After experimenting around some with volcanion, I think I made a pretty good volcanion team (Currently 1600 and climbing). Just wanted to get some input/feedback and share the team.

TEAM OVERVIEW:

214-mega.gif

Heracross-Mega @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 228 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Pin Missile
- Rock Blast
- Close Combat

Sub-heracross gets a field day against stall. Even without a swords dance, it hits a monstrous 515 Atk. It lacks a bit in the speed department, but its bulk allows it to live most non SE hits. Heracross gives me a great wallbreaker, and has decent synergy with Volcanion. The substitute set allows it to beat stall.

Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 248 SpA / 184 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power

Volcanion is another monstrous breaker with 500 something SpA. Its unique typing and great ability make it hard to check, and nearly impossible to OHKO. Volcanion is like Heracross in that it lacks in speed, but has the bulk to live multiple hits. Together to Hera/Volc core tear through any balance or stall teams you may face.

645-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

With a good offensive core, I wanted to add a good defensive cores. Lando is the best mon in the meta imo, and its helmet set allows it to punish physical attackers. Main switch in for mons like Zard X, Drill, and other strong physical hitters. The 88 speed allows it to outspeed modest Volc, but the loss in bulk means its 2HKO'd by mega lop's ice punch. Still on the fence about making it fast or not. Also my rocker with a standard set.

380.gif

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Roost

For the other half of the main defensive core there is a latias. Latias sponges most special hits. I chose the bulkier spread with 72 hp to take hits a bit better, especially from volcanion, raikou, and manectric, which can be threats otherwise. Roost is for longevity, and healing wish is not needed because of my 6th mon anyways. Also provides solid hazard removal.

641-therian.gif

Tornadus-Therian @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 76 Atk / 180 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Why not add another therian form to the mix? Tornadus-T is another great mon in the current meta. The life orb set is underused imo, and packs a punch. Life orb allows it to 2HKO the likes of slowbro, hippo, and most other mons that don't resist its main STAB Hurricane. Knock Off is a utility move, Superpower is to hit tran, ttar, drill, sharp, seeing as Volc deals with sciz pretty well anyways. HP Ice is to weaken chomp and lando to allow a sweep with either heracross, or the final mon. 76 Atk allows it to always OHKO offensive drill and ttar as well as 2HKO tran.

385.gif

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Iron Head
- Healing Wish
- Heart Stamp

Speaking of that last mon, its a nice scarfrachi. Scarfrachi is the glue of the team, outspeeding most relevant megas and scarfers. It gives me Healing Wish to restore my breakers, allowing me to run Roost on Lati. Of course I run dual STAB to Hax people as much as possible. Rachi also is a soft check to kyurem which otherwise is fairly problematic. All in all a great mon, and rounds off the team.

Nice team you have there,
First off, give Torn-T U-Turn>HP Ice, as it gives momentum and you get a Regenerator boost.
Second, I would give Volcanion Assault Vest, as the extra special bulk is appreciated. However, you do lose some power, so it really depends how you play and what your problems are.

Other than that, your team looks pretty good
Hope I helped :3

Hey Biskit, this is a pretty solid build, but I think a few minor adjustments can be made to improve how it functions.

As much as I love Life Orb Tornadus-T as a wallbreaker, especially considering only Rotom-W and Zapdos can safely switch into it, I think for this build you should run Choice Band Tyranitar > Life Orb Tornadus-T for a few reasons. For one this helps alleviate pressure from Jirachi as the sole check to Latis since it can only stomach two Draco Meteors, but it also helps Pursuit trap them as well as Chansey to give Volcanion an easier time in wallbreaking. It also can dent into Slowking and Slowbro with Pursuit for Volcanion, and is a very solid wallbreaker itself. It also can handle Talonflame which can obviously pose a threat to M-Heracross, while still helping M-Heracross in overwhelming bulky ground types like Landorus-Therian, defensive Garchomp, and Hippowdon.

Next, I think you should run Swords Dance > Substitute on M-Heracross, as well as run Jolly Nature > Adamant. M-Heracross is your main check to Bisharp, and since you have a Defog user you should try to keep it as healthy as possible, as well as make sure it can outspeed Jolly Bisharp. Swords Dance also allows M-Heracross to break bulky water types like Suicune which Volcanion struggles with, and also allows it to OHKO or 2HKO on stall once it sets up. M-Heracross can OHKO Skarmory with +2 Close Combat, OHKO M-Sableye, Amoonguss, and M-Slowbro with +2 Pin Missile, it 2HKOs Unaware Quagsire with Pin Missile, OHKOs Chansey with unboosted Close Combat, and can pick off weakened Unaware Clefable with two Rock Blasts. Stall doesn't really have many options for Swords Dance M-Heracross, and since your team can't break stall very well (Substitute M-Heracross doesn't really break stall since Skarmory can Whirlwind you out after eating a Close Combat, then heal on Latias, Landorus-T, or Jirachi later) I think this is a solid addition to your team.

Lastly, there's two minor changes I think you should make with your Volcanion set. Sludge Wave is only used over Sludge Bomb on Gengar since Chesnaught will wall it otherwise with Bulletproof, but since Chesnaught isn't a threat to Volcanion, especially considering Steam Eruption easily 2HKOs it, you should run Sludge Bomb > Sludge Wave on Volcanion since the Poison chance can help rack up damage and do more in the long run than the extra 5 BP on Sludge Wave will. You should also run Hidden Power Grass > Earth Power on Volcanion since Earth Power only allows it to hit opposing Volcanion, which gets 2HKO'd by Sludge Bomb, and Dragalge, which isn't as common in OU as Slowbro, Slowking, Gastrodon, or Seismitoed. Hitting water types that wall your dual STAB has much more utility than hitting Dragalge which your Jirachi can take on, or opposing Volcanion which you can 2HKO with another coverage move your already have.

Since Charizard-Y can be annoying for this team, and since bulky water types in general are annoying to face, you can consider Thunderbolt > Psyshock on your Latias, especially since you have Jirachi in the back to check Amoonguss and M-Venusaur. Latios can also be considered over Latias since the addition of Tyranitar helps you to check electric types, and the extra firing power is also nice. You can also consider Tail Glow Manaphy > Volcanion with Hidden Power Fire Latios > Defog Lati@s since many teams don't handle Manaphy very well with Pursuit support from Choice Band Tyranitar, and Latios can help bait in Ferrothorn with Hidden Power Fire to take it out. This does make your matchup against M-Scizor a bit harder though since you have to fish for Scald burns, as well as makes switching into Azumarill more of a 50/50 every time it comes in, but you can still try it out and see if you like it.
