Introduction:I've joined these forums a few years back, but never really posted or even checked here often. With Gen VI on the horizon tho, I figured it was time to get my Pokemon mojo back, and what better way to do it than to become a more active member here. The Pokemon metagame isn't really anything new to me, I've been in it since about 2008 and for the most part I figured I got it down. I came up with an idea on how to use a variant rain team, a team that functions with water but isn't reliant on it for victory and this.
Its been about two months since I put it together and playtested.

Mantrio (Dugtrio) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Spd / 4 Def / 252 Atk
Jolly Nature
IVs: 26 HP
- Earthquake
- Shadow Claw
- Reversal
- Memento
My Lead. He traps anything grounded preventing switchouts. The EV spread is pretty standard; 252 spd puts Dugtrio at 372 allowing it to outspeed most threats and strike with Earthquake, threats like Tyranitar, Ninetails, etc. Its also a decent revenge killer too because of its speed. The Sash allows me at least two hits before death provided no entry hazards aren't present allowing me to make the best of Reversal, or Memento to force a switch. Shadow Claw 2HKO's Gengar, and Latios and I don't have
to use prediction to use it.

Nidokiller (Nidoking) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Earth Power
- Substitute
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast
Provides coverage with its broad movepool. Again, another standard EV spread which mainly invests in speed to strike quick and hard. Earth Power is our primary STAB, Substitute to stall given that Nidoking is surprisingly bulky and take a few hits to get it out. Lastly, Ice Beam & Fire Blast covers dragons like Haxorus or Hydreigon Or Venasaur without Sun.

Let er Rip (Hitmontop) (M) @ Eject Button
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 4 Spd / 252 HP / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Sucker Punch
- Close Combat
- Foresight
My answer to Stealth Rock. Given that Jynx is the star of the team, and she despises rocks, this guy's purpose is pretty simple. I put Foresight on for predicted switch ins to spinblockers, which either forces a switch or I rid the rocks. Sucker Punch to take care of said Ghost types should they stay in as well. Its really a 50/50 prediction.

Mrs. Popo (Jynx) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 248 SAtk / 8 HP
Timid Nature
- Lovely Kiss
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot
The star of the team. Her purpose? Well like her husband, to kill and murder, with extreme prejudice. 317 spd may not be very impressive, but can outspeed things like Landorus-T and in some cases, Salamence allowing her to get dat Setup with Lovely Kiss. With 3 Nasty Plots up, she can even 2HKO Blissey no problem. And Dry Skin + Leftovers means rocks or substitute aren't that much trouble(Though I still prefer no rocks).

Wendy (Azumarill) (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 212 HP / 44 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Return
- Waterfall
- Superpower
I guess you can say she's a sub-sweeper right after Jynx. She takes advatage of the rain by abusing either Aqua Jet or Waterfall, and can 2HKO damn near everything that doesn't resist it.I chose Double-Edge for better coverage than what Ice Punch could provide, and because I already had three other Ice Beam users.

T-O-A-D(Poitoed) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 Def / 248 HP / 8 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Ice Beam
The Co-star. Bold allows him to take a lot of punishment before going down, and not without some nasty setups in Toxic and/or Subsitute. I would have choses Hydro Pump over Scald, but I like the idea of burining Garchomp or Salamence.
Final Comments:
How did I come up with this team? Well I was reading Jynx's page and looking at her stats, I was surprised by how good she actually was and wanted to see if I could make a team around her work all that well. I like the results for the most part, the team hits hard while covering for their shortcomings. One problem I noticed today however after a battle with a good friend of mind is that Rotom-W completely walls the team due to resisting damn near every attack I have, and it made a battle I was doing otherwise ok in a bigger pain in the ass. This is my first real post here, and I wanted a professional opinion of my team and what you guys think of it. My head isn't too far up my butt where I can't accept criticism tho so feel free to tear me a new one if you see fit. Hopefully after this I can become a much more active member here and I hope this thread meets all of the guidelines provided as I tried to be as descriptive as possible.
