bible: fact or opinion(i am starting this because the other one is closed)

Why debate about our bible? We don't need other people breathing down our necks about "you are so predujice" (or however you spell it) "you christian homophobe!" We just don't need that. We don't really care what you say........ Anybody can post anything you want. Me and any other users will just own you in an arguement and prove you right about it. Also God keeps his promises. This kind of isnt relevent, but I just want you to know, God said he would never again destroy another nation completely. Remember the Tsunami? Yeah, that's right, God didn't destroy the whole nation. Now, we should never question what God says.

Back to the law of the gay, divorce, and adultery. The reason why God made Gayness or lesbianality (if that's how you spell it) a sin, is because God didn't make humans like that. Also, divice is wrong in God's eyes because when one human and another human get joined together in marriage, no other human should break that companionship. God made humans straight, but it stumps me to realise why God bothered with making us humans. I think he wanted companionship. Anyway, we shouldn't really question why God did something or not, it is not our problem, God said he everything is in his hands. If you don't understand, talk to God simply by prayer. In prayer you don't need to use impressive complicated words to "impress God". Just simple, nice words.

This is from a christian's point of veiw, please post for a debate, we shouldn't question God. The thing is if you are just going to post saying random shit like " i hate the bible is it wrong and how is it possible!" Because that is just assholish. }=(
Just post debating arguments, not assholish ones, please.

hmm, humans are sooooo dumb. The reason why I posted this thread is because the other one about the bible is closed.

And anyway, i didn't say anything contradictary, what I meant was saying pointless stuff. (I didn't explain properly, thanks for pointing it out)

And i knew nobody will drop the topic and wanted to argue about the bible after the other thread got closed, so that is why I made this thread.

Also, when I say we don't need to debate the bible, why did YOU even bther posting? Don't say anything dumb like "because you need corrections" or anything like that.
 
First of all, the question about whether the Bible has facts or not is pretty moot. Regarding scientific facts, the Bible simply is incorrect. The Bible is also incorrect about certain historic and geographical facts that it presents. The Bible writers usually distorted the historical and geographical facts on purpose anyway (usually by exaggerating what really happened to leave a bigger impact, a style of writing which was very normal at those times).

That said, the Bible was never intended to be a scientific, historical or geographical book in the first place. The Bible is intended to be a religious book. Its arguments about values and theology is what the Bible is about. And for Christians, these are correct.

That's all that needs to be said.
 
Plus, if you don't understand the begining, just carry on the bible debate or just drop it and stop bad-mouthing things which aren't that relevent to this debate. This thread is about debating the bible, not saying if I contradicted myself or whatever the shit your useless post about my and somebody elses thread was. (and before you say it, no i am NOT going to act t=like this for every single post, if you don't care, shut up and don't post on this thread.)

You just do not get it do you? God isn't human, just bcause you cannot make the world in an ammount of time doesn't mean something that is powerful cannot.
God is neither man or woman, we just refer to him as a man to keep things simple. And by the way, bible writers didn't exaggerate anything in the bible as it also says in the bible,
" any man or woman will be cast into the pits of burning sulphure if they adjust any saying in God's word. There will will gnash and gring their teeth with pain" (basically hell when you die)
i know what you are thinking, that could have been exaggerated as well, but what's to say that that sentence is or isn't?
Also before you start annoying me about if that sentence is true because there are many versions of the bible, it means when you deliberately try to make another version of the bible which says untrue and false things about God and God's word.
 
Sorry, but you're a lost cause. It's because of people like you that other people are swaying off any form of religion. I am a devout Catholic, and I have studied the Bible in a bit of detail at a certain time in my life. The first rule about the Bible is that taking it literally is the biggest mistake you can make. It will only make you look dumb.

And no, the Bible wasn't written by God. It was written by people inspired by God. That means that every writer had his or her own style of writing (compare Mark's very terse and simple style to Luke's descriptive and scholarly style, for example), and God did not interfere with the style of each writer. So how do you explain the different writing styles if God had written the Bible?

actually, this is pretty interesting, because i've attended church/bible study since i was little, and it seems most of the people who have the most realistic interpretation of the book (me being one of them) are those that have studied it more closely than the average (theologically naive) person
