Tornadus's great utility options such as U-turn, Knock Off, and Taunt combined with great Special Attack and Speed stats as well as good abilities make it a good offensive pivot in PU. Knock Off gives Tornadus utility by removing items from switchins like non-Sticky Hold Gastrodon and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro. Taunt is another viable option to prevent setup attempts from Pokemon such as Florges and Scream Tail as well as entry hazards from the likes of Gligar. Focus Blast allows Tornadus to hit Steel- and Rock-types such as Alolan Sandslash, Copperajah, and Coalossal. Finally, Tailwind allows Tornadus to outspeed faster threats like Kilowattrel while also supporting slower wallbreaking teammates like Decidueye and Paldean Tauros-F. It should be noted that depending on what it's team needs, Tornadus's final two moveslots vary; Knock Off and Focus Blast are generally better if its team needs a secondary wallbreaker, but Taunt and Tailwind are better if its team needs a support pivot. Defiant punishes Defog attempts from Pokemon like Scyther, but Prankster makes Taunt have priority and should only be ran with it. Tera Fighting boosts Focus Blast, achieving rolls such as 2HKOing Bellibolt while also giving a decent defensive typing, helping revenge kill Pokemon like Coalossal and the beforementioned Bellibolt. Alternatively, Tera Flying boosts Bleakwind Storm, allowing for rolls such as OHKOing Arcanine and Skuntank after Stealth Rock. a Naive nature allows for a stronger U-turn and Knock Off, but if the defense drop is unfavorable a Timid nature is viable instead.

As an offensive pivot, Tornadus fits on balance and offense teams looking for a fast pivot and cleaner. Tornadus's ability to pivot helps bring in wallbreakers and setup sweepers such as Decidueye, Arcanine, and Golurk safely. In turn, these three help wear down Tornadus's checks such as Bellibolt, Coalossal, and Bronzong so it can potentially clean up games. Other pivots such as Bellibolt, Ambipom, and Rotom-M can create a strong VoltTurn core with Tornadus. Tornadus's ability to lure in Steel- and Rock-types like Duraludon and Coalossal and deal good damage to them with Focus Blast helps enable teammates like Rotom-C and Skuntank who can struggles with them. Tornadus also puts good pressure on common special walls such as Bronzong and Galarian Slowbro thanks to Knock Off and Taunt, benefitting Special Wallbreakers like Meloetta and Toxtricity. Tornadus struggles with faster threats and Choice Scarfers such as Kilowattrel, Ambipom, and Hoopa, so teammates to check these threats such as Gligar, Coalossal, and Gastrodon are appricated, with all three setting up entry hazards to wear down Tornadus's common switchins.

Thanks to a great boosting move in Nasty Plot, wide variety of coverage options, great Special Attack and Speed stats, and useful utility options, Nasty Plot Tornadus is a niche, yet incredibly threatening, sweeper and wallbreaker. Focus Blast allows Tornadus to target Steel- and Rock-types such as Copperajah and Coalossal while also hitting Electric-types like Bellibolt and Rotom-H for good damage. Alternatively, Heat Wave still hits the beforementioned Steel-types and does more to Bronzong while being a more consistent coverage option, but comes at the cost of weaker power and hitting less targets. Tera Blast should be paired with Tera Ground, allowing Tornadus to still damage Steel- and Rock-types while also doing great damage to Pokemon such as Galarian Slowbro, Bellibolt, and Delphox. U-turn allows Tornadus to pivot out of awkard matchups such as Rotom-H and Goodra and generate momentum for its team. Finally, Taunt allows Tornadus some utility, allowing it to stop setup attempts or hazard setting from Pokemon like Scream Tail, Bronzong, and Gligar. Tornadus generally prefers running Defiant due to allowing it to severely punish Defog attempts from Pokemon like Altaria and Scyther, although if it is running Taunt, Prankster is viable to stop faster threats from setting up such as Scream Tail and Salazzle. Tera Ground should be paired with Tera Blast and comes with defensive benefits such as gaining a great immunity to Electric, allowing for setup attempts against Pokemon like Bellibolt and Kilowattrel. Tera Flying Alternatively boosts the power of Bleakwind Storm to incredible levels, achieving rolls such as after a Nasty Plot potentially OHKOing Calm Mind Florges and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro with Stealth Rock.

Nasty Plot Tornadus generally finds itself on offense and hyper offense teams looking for a powerful wincon. Even with coverage, Tornadus can struggle to find itself breaking through walls such as Bellibolt and Coalossal, so checks to these two such as Golurk and Paldean Tauros-W make good partners. Pokemon such as Arcanine, Zoroark, and Scream Tail appreciate Tornadus's ability to wear down and set up against Pokemon like Gligar, Mudsdale, Wo-Chien, and Bronzong who they can't break through on their own. In turn, these three can work together with Tornadus help wear down its checks such as Bellibolt and Goodra. Even after a Nasty Plot, Tornadus can sometimes find it difficult to break through bulky foes with reliable recovery like Gastrodon and Wish Florges, so entry hazards from the likes of Hisuian Avalugg and Duraludon can help wear down threats in range for Tornadus to KO them.

move 3: Focus Blast / Heat Wave (i don't know if heat wave is ever worth it tbh, it's less committal but pretty much entirely outclassed coverage-wise by focus blast. even vs zong, you wanna click knock to guaranteed hit it + deny it recovery.)

swap moveslots 3 and 4, but also put taunt (+ tailwind) with focus blast. the ideal order for move 4 imo is taunt / tailwind / focus blast, but we can discuss this some. my reasoning for this is that knock off is really important for pivot torn and almost never should be dropped, while taunt/twind/coverage are more situational. twind should be added because we have a ton of slow/midspeed breakers rn that value going first. you should also explain that torn's choice in the fourth slot should be picked based on what role its team needs from it; some teams want more support from it, while others want a secondary wallbreaker.

Focus Blast allows Tornadus to hit Steel- and Rock-types such as Alolan Sandslash, Copperajah, and Coalossal, but Heat Wave is an alternative STAB option that is more consistent and hits Bronzong for more damage, but comes at the cost of power and not hitting Rock-types. Knock Off gives Tornadus utility by removing items from switchins like non-Sticky Hold Gastrodon and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro. Taunt is another viable option to prevent setup attempts from Pokemon such as Delphox (you would rather just hit delphox.) and Scream Tail as well as entry hazards from the likes of Gligar. Defiant punishes Defog attempts from Pokemon like Scyther, but Prankster makes Taunt have priority and should only be ran with it. returning to the earlier point about torn doing different things depending on the team, highlight slower breakers that value tailwind support and offensive threats that might benefit from torn luring coal/dura with focus blast. torn also puts heavy pressure on common special walls with knock off + taunt, could be worth mentioning something like meloetta too for that reason.

Focus Blast allows Tornadus to target Steel-types such as Copperajah as well as Dark- and Rock-types such as Zoroark, Skuntank, and Coalossal (zoro and skunk just die to bleakwind, which is also more accurate than focus blast. steels and rocks are the main targets, but also mention smacking electric-types like bellibolt and rotom-h.). Alternatively, Heat Wave still hits the beforementioned Steel-types while being a more consistent coverage option, but comes at the cost of weaker power and hitting less targets (heat wave is also better against bronzong specifically, which still chews focus blast.). Tera Ground should be paired with Tera Blast (it's viable w/o tera blast too, but dropping u-turn and taunt from moveslot 4 makes this part not worth mentioning anyway.) and comes with defensive benefits such as gaining a great immunity to Electric, allowing for setup attempts against Pokemon like Bellibolt and Kilowattrel. Tera Flying Alternatively boosts the power of Bleakwind Storm to incredible levels, achieving rolls such as after a Nasty Plot potentially OHKOing Calm Mind Florges and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro with Stealth Rock.

Even with coverage, Tornadus can struggle to find itself breaking through walls such as Bellibolt and Coalossal, so checks to these two such as Golurk and Paldean Tauros-W make good partners. Pokemon such as Arcanine, Zoroark, and Florges (this never fits on offense, replace it with scream tail.) appreciate Tornadus's ability to wear down and set up against Pokemon like Gligar, Mudsdale, Wo-Chien, and Bronzong who they can't break through on their own. In turn, these three can work together with Tornadus help wear down its checks such as Bellibolt and Assault Vest Meloetta (this isn't common enough to mention, something else bulky like goodra works.). Even after a Nasty Plot, Tornadus can sometimes find its power to be somewhat underwhelming against bulkier foes like Gastrodon and Wish Florges (this is more about needing help with resillient special walls, being fat AND having recovery is the issue and not really torn's strength.), so entry hazards from the likes of Hisuian Avalugg and Gligar (not an offense pokemon really, another lead like smeargle/froslass or like rocks golurk/dura would work.) can help wear down threats in range for Tornadus to KO them. If running U-turn, Tornadus can form a good pivot core with teammates such as Flamigo and Ambipom.
