Big Fat Trick Room

Hey Smogon!
This is a quick RMT showing my OU trick room team.

Law_Lifts_G-5_Warship.png

Trick room is powerful for several reasons:

1. Flips speed round regardless of weather condition
2. There is less need to spend ev points on speed and therefore the ev points can be used to increase other stats like hp or defences.
3. Fun to play with and can really annoy some fast offensive teams.

But it does have its limitations:

1. only lasts for 4 turns ( 1 turn is usually used for switching already )
2. Still does not stop the weather conditions completely.
3. Taunt users can stop trick room in its tracks

Here's the team:

65.png

Alakazam @ Focus Sash
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Focus Blast
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Trick Room

Alakazam here is fast and quick and can deal with situations when trick room is not up. He is a vital member is getting rid of the bulky fighting types that roam the OU metagame. SPeedy and powerful is what I can describe alakazam with.

437.png

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 184 HP / 68 Atk / 132 Def / 124 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Trick Room
- Toxic
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock

Bronzong is great setting up trick room with his great defences and typing. He is a reliable trick roomer and stealth rocker. It also removes some physical threats like scizor and physical jirachi.

562.png

Conkeldurr (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 156 HP / 252 Atk / 100 SDef
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Drain Punch
- Bulk Up
- Mach Punch
- Ice Punch

This guy's massive 140 atk potential is finally realised with trick room. Once the speed is reversed, he hacks down massive damage if he doesnt go unchecked. I chose mach punch over payback here since conkelduur would normally be moving first anyway thanks to trick room and it is a good priority move just to finish off whatever thats left of the opponent once the trick room effects wear off.

80.png

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 32 Def / 120 SAtk / 96 SDef
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Fire Blast
- Slack Off
- Scald
- Trick Room

Slowbro has a surprising 100 base special attack so I gave him some Sp atk ev points to boost the power of his scaled. Slowbro helps take care of rain teams and Fire Blast finishes off steels during the Sun. His regenerator abitlity is what I really like though, i can feel really comfortable switching him out and not having to worry even if he is burned or poisoned.

286.png

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 Atk / 88 HP / 168 Def
Brave Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Spore
- Drain Punch
- Stone Edge

Breloom is another devastating sweeper in the room. Bullet seed takes care of sub users, Drain Punch to heal off some Hp and Stone Edge to deal with the likes of Salamence and Thundurus T.

Spore is also really useful right before the Trick room ends so that I can get a free switch into bronzong or slowbro for another trick room set up.

Heatran-legendary-pokemon-31489439-1000-600.jpg

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 208 HP / 48 SDef / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Hidden Power [Ice]

AWWW SHEEET HEATRAN BEAST MODE IN TRICK ROOOMM. CAN KILL ANY MUTHA FACKER WITH LAVA PLUME AND ICE SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT AWW YEOAAHHH! COME IN WITH BALLOON AND SWEEEP THE SHIT ONTO AMONGUUS JIRACHI CELEBI MAGNEZONE DRAGONITE GARCHOMP ALL DIIEEEEE TO TRICK ROOM HEATRAN.

YOU TRY TO TAKE IT DOWN, SHIIIIT IT HAS BLACK HIGH DEFENCES!

Thanks for rating :)

One of your teams biggest problems at the moment is doubling up on typing
(1) Three psychic types
(2) Two fighting
(3) Two Steel
That is a lot of doubling up. Also no attack investment on Slowbro. I have no idea what is up with your 0Spdf syndrome. Alakazam should have 252 Speed and Special Attack and 4 Spdf.

Hey PapaBigBear, nice Trick Room team but I see some concerns with your team and I have some suggestions that can help this team.

  • First off on Alakazam, you don't need Trick Room on Alakazam its a waste of moveslot and easy set up opportunity for your opponent. Since Trick Room has the lowest priority move your Alakazam will go last when setting up Trick Room which will give your opponent the opportunity to finish off your Alakazam or switch to the appropriate check. Plus even if you're successful in setting up Trick Room, you'll still be going last the next turn behind your opponent due to Alakazam's high speed. Since Alakazam is will last last you'll be forced to switch out which waste a turn of Trick Room and cost your switch in damage. So in conclusion change Trick Room to Hidden Power Ice. Hidden Power Ice will help hit dragon types and other Pokemon weak to Ice types.

Second you'll need to change your Conkeldurr's set around, because the one your using will struggle to net some important OHKOs. While the Iron Fist helps with punching moves I think that Sheer Force is better for your team due to Conkeldurr's coverage moves. Here is the set I recommend,

562.png

Conkeldurr (M) @
lifeorb.png

Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SpD
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd) [0 Speed IVs]
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- ThunderPunch
- Mach Punch

  • The main selling point in this set is Conkeldurr's stronger coverage moves and lack of recoil this set suffers. Thunderpunch and Ice Punch are Conkeldurr's coverage moves which provides the BoltBeam coverage to help against flying and dragon types. The two grant Conkeldurr physical BoltBeam coverage and have 98 Base Power after the Sheer Force boost. The former is particularly useful against bulky Water-types; Jellicent will be OHKOed after Stealth Rock, and the latter is handy versus bulky ground- and grass-types; most Celebi and Landorus-T (after Intimidate) are OHKOed after Stealth Rock. Now its STAB doesn't get the Sheer Force boost causing Conkeldurr to take recoil damage, Drain Punch will heal the excess damage.THere is no need for Bulk Up because you'll be wasting Trick Rooms trying to set up. In trick Room you need to be able to hit hard and fast.

I'm little concerned about your Breloom. I think Technician Breloom will help this team in getting more KOs compared to Toxic Boost Breloom. Because you stated Breloom is a devastating sweeper but you holding him back with the wrong ability that will help this team. A Life Orb Breloom will break walls just like your Conkeldurr will. What sets Breloom apart from Conkeldurr is his ability to handle the water teams and bulky water walls that give Trick Room teams trouble.
Here's the set I recommend:

286.png

Breloom @ Life Orb
Trait: Technichan
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Brave Nature
Spore
Swords Dance
Bullet Seed
Mach Punch

  • Also on a side note, you don't need your Slowbro to be defensive, you stated that it has a good base 100 SpA, well why don't you exploited that Base 100 SpA? Slowbro can be a suprise sweeper under Trick Room if used correctly which can catch your opponent off guard. I suggest you switch to a Quiet Nature to increase your Special Attack to 328. Since Rain teams are very popular and common this Generation, Surf is the better choice as a STAB move for Slowbro. Psyshic can be used instead of Slack Off you alread have Regenerator for Slwobro which is good recovery just by switching out so you can afford to open up a moveslot for more offense on Slowbro. Since you're team needs a way to hit fighting types that are very common Psychic will help with this. You'll be able to finish off Conkeldurr, Breloom, Toxicroak, and others.

Smaller Nitpicks:

485.png
208 HP / 48 SpD / 252 SpA ====>> 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Toxic ====>> Dragon Pulse

080.png
252 HP / 4 Atk / 32 Def / 120 SAtk / 96 SDef ===> 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Sassy Nature ====>> Quiet Nature
Scald ===> Surf
Slack Off ====>> Psychic

Hoped I helped and good luck with your team. If you have any questions, concerns or want me to elaborate more feel free to PM me.

Well Sciztar said most of things I planned to suggest for this team. The only thing I would suggest is changing out Alakazam for a Choice Scarf user for when Trick Room is over to revenge kill some Pokemon. While Alakazam is already fast he still will be outpace by other CHoice Scarf user. Why not Choice Scarf Landorus, Salamence or Choice Scarf Terrakion. All are dangerous Pokemon to have for a late game sweep after your Trick Room team has weaken you're opponents Pokemon.
