ORAS OU Birdspam's Vendetta!! Peaked at: 1761

Hey everyone! Since ORAS, playing Bird Spam has increasingly become more and more difficult, due to the many counters running rampant among the OU Metagame, but here's the revenge!!

pinsir-mega.gif

Pinsir @ Pinsirite | Hyper Cutter
Jolly | 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 Defense
-Return
-Quick Attack
-Close Combat
-Swords Dance

You already know it. Mega Pinsir is used to destroy the opposition after its counters are either gone or weakened enough.

Close Combat was picked over Earthquake to hit stuff like Rotom and Skarmory. Hyper Cutter is for Landorus-T's Intimidate.

talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Liechi Berry | Gale Wings
Adamant | 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 Defense
-Flare Blitz
-Brave Bird
-Natural Gift
-Swords Dance

Our 2nd bird. Talonflame is unfazed by burns and is able to dent stuff so the rest of the team can plow through.

Natural Gift is used to deal with Quagsire. Swords Dance set is easily setup due to the amount of switches Talonflame's pressence forces. Brave Bird over Acrobatics because i can't always be itemless and i want to recoil into Liechi's activation.

excadrill.gif

Excadrill @ Assault Vest | Mold Breaker
Adamant | 80 HP / 176 Attack / 252 Special Defense
-Iron Head
-Rock Slide
-Rapid Spin
-Earthquake

Excadrill's typing makes it the best spinner for this team. Coupled with Mold Breaker to hit Rotom-W.

Assault Vest was picked over Choice Scarf because it allows me to switch easily against slow special threats and because i can bluff a Scarfed Spin / Attack and then counter special switch-ins without being a gimmicky deadweight option that actually holds its own. Not having to sacrifice anything to use another move is a GIGANTIC bless on this team.

rotom-wash.gif

Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry | Levitate
Calm | 242 HP / 252 Special Defense / 16 Speed
-Rest
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Will O' Wisp

Special Rotom-W, not much is needed to explain on it. It's mostly used to pivot on things that'd heavily damage Excadrill past Assault Vest, aswell as dealing with enemy Talonflames that may ruin Pinsir's day.

mamoswine.gif

Mamoswine @ Life Orb | Thick Fat
Jolly | 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 Defense
-Ice Shard
-Earthquake
-Icicle Crash
-Stealth Rock

Offensive Mamoswine. It helps me dealing with Landorus-T, Gliscor and Rocky Helmet Garchomp which impede my Birds from advancing, aswell as setting up Stealth Rock in the face of a few passive Pokemon like Hippowdon to deal residual damage.

Thick Fat to survive some key attacks, like M-Manectric's Flamethrower, Talonflame's Flare Blitz and Clefable's Unboosted Fire Blast.

sableye.gif

Sableye @ Leftovers | Prankster
Bold | 250 Hp / 252 Defense / 8 Speed
-Taunt
-Recover
-Foul Play
-Will o' Wisp

I needed a Ghost to spinblock and counter Mamoswine / Excadrill's Fighting Weakness, aswell as a threat that could stop setups or force some stallers out.

Sableye covers the defensive side really well, while Excadrill and Rotom-W cover it's special downside.

Another option might be Gengar, which Sableye competed against for the team spot.

Additional Stuff:
This is my first post, so i hope i didn't mess it up! Apologies if i did.

I know that without Magnezone, Skarmory may become troublesome, i rely on Rotom-W, Sableye's taunt and Talonflame to shoo it away. Other than that, i haven't had many troubles with standart OU meta-teams.

Feel free to rate and improve the team to your liking!

Edit: New peak at 1799, same team, incase you guys are interested!

Hey Vikotoru, I really like the bird spam core with Talonflame acting as a lure for M-Diancie, Rotom-W, Quagsire, and Scarf Tyranitar to support M-Pinsir. That's some really cool stuff.

Anywho, the biggest issue I see with your team is that one half is oddly defensive compared to your really aggressive offensive core, which makes you lose momentum very easily and lessens the amount of offensive pressure you can apply when forced into a bad position.

Sableye only augments your weakness to Zard X, and doesn't have much use as a spinblocker since you only have Stealth Rock on your team. So to help you further pressure Rotom-W, and immediately pressure bulky grounds that annoy your birdspam core and also check M-Gyara that can be annoying to you, i think you should run Choice Band Azumarill > Sableye. CB Azumarill keeps the pressure on your opponent by being able to scare out Hippowdon that take out your M-Pinsir / Talonflame without giving it an opportunity to Slack Off, and 2HKOs Slowbro and Rotom-W switch-ins, and also baits in Celebi to be setup fodder for one of your birds, assuming it doesn't have Thunder Wave. With Superpower it also gets rid of Ferrothorn which is annoying for your Excadrill to try to Rapid Spin against.

I also think you should run Rocky Helmet Landorus-T > Mamoswine as your Stealth Rock user since it checks and gets chip damage on the mons that revenge / check your birdspam core. For instance, Sand Rush or Scarf Mold Breaker Excadrill that Iron Head into Landorus, Scarf Tyranitar that go for Crunch, Garchomp that Dragon Tail, and opposing Landorus-T that U-Turn on your Landorus-T are forced to take damage that can put them into range of M-Pinsir or Talonflame's attacks throughout the course of a game in tandem with hazards. This also makes Excadrill have a hard time spinning versus you, and gives you a reliable answer to Zard X.

Next, to try to bait in Skarmory, provide a second life to your wallbreakers, and have a solid switch-in to Keldeo while still checking electric types, you should run Latias > Rotom-W. With Thunderbolt, Latias can bait in and destroy Skarmory to support M-Pinsir, Azumarill, Landorus-T, and make Excadrill have an easier time spinning. This allows you to revenge Manaphy without being forced to Draco Meteor, and dent into SpDef Talonflame. Healing Wish allows you to bring your Talonflame up to full again since it lacks Roost and can be easily whittled down due to its recoil moves, as well as heal Landorus which doesn't have Leftovers. This also gives you a safe Rotom-W switch-in which can be annoying to try to pivot into otherwise.

Lastly, you should run Choice Scarf Excadrill > Assault Vest to have a revenge killer that isn't weak to hazards, more speed control for your team, as well as be able to reliably revenge kill M-Altaria and be able to get off a last ditch Rapid Spin against mons that would otherwise outspeed you.

Hey there Celes! I have actually tried to avoid Legendary Pokemon as much as i possibly could due my inhability to obtain most competitive versions of them inside the game. But all i can say is: WHOA!! The team feels so... what's the word, fluctiating now! I have multiple answers to almost anything that's sent out to me! Tho i do miss having Sableye sometimes.

Thank you very much for your input!

If only getting them ingame would be as easy T_T

Edit: Something i noticed is that rain teams are able to easily threaten me now that i'm missing Sableye to cripple their Physical Sweepers, but i guess with some proper play and luck i can get around that!
