~ Black Math ~ (OU)

Classic OU team, devoted to the White Stripes song: Black Math.

This is a D/P team for Wi-Fi, meaning new egg moves and hidden powers will be hard for me to get and take a while, so try avoid those suggestions if possible. Also, as you should know, I can't use Platinum move tutors until platinum comes out in England.

Here is an overview:

** I have a 3x weakness to ICE which I am aware of, but two of them resist ICE, so for now I don't get much trouble from ice type moves. My x2 weak to ground doesn't matter, thanks to my 2 flying types and Rhyperior's Solid Rock.

Rhyperior @ Choice Band
Solid Rock
EVs: 52 HP / 252 Atk / 204 Def
Adamant (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
- Hammer Arm

CB Rhyperior makes a great lead. Even Gyarados cowers to the might of Thunderpunch since Rhyperior can resist a Life Orb'd waterfall.

Crobat @ Leftovers
Inner Focus
EVs: 120 HP / 136 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Confuse Ray
- Hypnosis
- U-Turn
- Ariel Ace

Hypnosis and confuse ray allow me to avoid attacks with ease, and U-Turn lets me get out of sticky situations. Cross Poison is for STAB and a bit of coverage.

Absol (F) @ Life Orb
Super Luck
EVs: 252 Atk / 176 Spd / 80 SAtk
Adamant (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Fire Blast
- Psycho Cut
- Sucker Punch

This is my signature Absol, named 'Black Math'. Courtesy of Kryuell (me).

My greatest achievement on Diamond is obtaining a Shiny Adamant Absol with almost perfect IVs (thanks to a guide on breeding I read) Sucker Punch is to take out sweepers. Super Luck and Psycho Cut gives me an edge on critical hits, and Fire Blast does decent damage to skarmory (I think on average 60-70%) and OHKOs Scizor and Foretress. Swords dance allows me to power up, and against people who try predict Sucker Punch, lets me power it up. (sometimes I find myself stuck in prediction stalemates but since its me attacking I get the edge)

Starmie @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Surf
- Thunderbolt

Classic BoltBeamer with Rapid Spin and surf.

Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf ** Fo' shizzle
Flash Fire
EVs: 40 Atk / 252 Spd / 216 SAtk
Hasty (+Speed, -Def)
- Earth Power
- Explosion
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse

Classic ScarfTran with explosion (for swampert/suicune etc) I shouldn't have to explain this to a bunch of pros. Hasty nature since he can't resist earthquakes anyway.

Dragonite (M) @ Leftovers ** Dragon-Knight
Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SDef
Careful (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Heal Bell
- Roost
- Thunder Wave

I got a similar set for this from RaikouLover's post and it works great. People are yelling "omg salamence pwnz dragonite" Well correction: Salamence SWEEPS better than Dragonite. Dragonite SUPPORTS/CRIPPLES better than Salamence. Dragonite can be much better provided you use him right. And this Dragonite is awesome. I get trouble from Skarmorys but I can just cripple them and switch out really. Heal bell is amazing support and it was worth the trouble from getting it from XD.

Happy Ratings!

Nice Team, but Dragon Dancers, completely demolish you.

After One DD + Life ORB. You can be 5-0 by Mence or Gyrados easily. After two you don't stand a chance at all. Since Rhyperior is your lead. Most likely he will already be weakened.

Absol can handle them to an extent. SO maybe you don't have to worry too much.

Do DDers usually give you problems??

Rhyperior wants Stone Edge over Rock Slide. 10% Accuracy isn't worth 25 points of power. C'mon, that's worse than Flamethrower compared to Fire Blast. Additionally, Thunder Punch should then be dropped, as a Super Effective STAB Stone Edge does as much as a 2x Super Effective Thunder Punch. With Earthquake and Stone Edge, very little resists both. To hit those that don't, your remaining moves should be some combination of Avalanche (Flygon and Breloom SE), Megahorn (Neutral on Flygon, Breloom, and Bronzong), and Payback (Neutral on Flygon and Bronzong).

Absol seems like he is better served by the coverage of Superpower over Fire Blast, but it's up to you honestly.

Crobat should use Air Slash over Cross Poison. Poison is the worst coverage type in the game. Flying at least has a lot of neutrality.

Starmie seems really weird. Most supporting Starmies take advantage of Recover, and STAB Surf is always a fantastic attack to have. BoltBeam is a good combination, but it lacks STAB, making it weaker overall. SurfBolt or SurfBeam has better overall damage output

Dragonite is fine. Consider using Draco Meteor (and a non-SpA-lowering nature, of course) over Dragon Claw. You don't have the attack EVs to threaten things if you stay in, so your best bet is just to hit as hard as you can and then get out of there.

Remember I don't have platinum =/ so no superpower for Absol. and your right, Absol can deal with life orb DDers. Fire blast is much needed for steel types too.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'm going to change crobat's cross poison for a flying move (the physical ariel ace beats air slash)

Dragonite has 301 attack with no EVs so this is OK. Draco meteor won't help since Dragonite lasts long out in battle. (the stat lowering doesnt help!)

Thanks for the starmie tip, Surf would give me more damage, and reflect never really helped much.

i'm still 50/50 with stone edge... the inaccuracy is unreliable, but I guess it eliminates the need for T-Punch. Megahorn is definately going in =]

stone edge is same power as thunderpunch on gyarados so switch rock slide to that and take off thunderpunch for megahorn on celebi
