If you like rap/hip hop at all, I highly recommend checking this album out. This guy has pretty good flow but what really sets Tronic apart from any other recent LP that I could gush about is the beats. It came out at the end of October and I'm having a hard time not listening to it over and over. I like it enough that I made an individual thread to bring it to your attention.. and I don't do this very often.

Either way, go see for yourself as the whole album is posted on his myspace page so you can listen for free: http://www.myspace.com/blackmk

Even if you didn't like it, feel free to post comments as I'm curious to see what other people think.

Let me start by saying I rarely listen to hip hop and my knowledge of what makes it good is probably misguided. I've never liked the commercial rap that gets fed to us by video stations but now that I have listened to this a few times I can't say I hate it. You're right about the beats, some songs are excellent for example, Loosing Out. I haven't really had time to listen to the rhymes properly yet so I can't give an opinion on that, and wouldn't know what to say if I had.

All in all its a hip hop record that I can sit through and listen to comfortably without getting annoyed so it can't be too bad.

yeah this is a really good album, very crisp production and like you said, great, imaginative beats. its a nice change from a lot of recent hip hop albums filled with shitty wannabe club beats. the lyrics are solid but there aren't really any knockout lines ala gza or something but that's probably too much to expect from a guy that started out as a producer. his delivery is solid on every track though.

favorite tracks in order:
losing out
give the drummer sum
the matrix
hell yeah
try

this reminds me a bit of cannibal ox - cold vein and pharoahe monch - internal affairs with the slick production/beats
