Black Rain

Hi you might remember a few days ago i posted an RMT with good reviews but the general consensus was vaporeon has to go. now it might just be me or are all competitive players devoid of emotional attatchments. I must admit vaporeon was my weak link in the chain but i feel as though i have remedied that in this new team. This team is about rain and baton passing. I would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

EDITED

Politoed: Choice Scarf
Ability: Drizzle
EV's: 252 SpA, 4 SpD, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Move 1: Focus Blast
Move 2: Grass Hidden Power
Move 3: Ice Beam
Move 4: Surf

Politoed is basically just there to bring the rain. I tried making

him more defensively orientated but even with max EV investment he

just feels too frail so i decided that if he is not going to be

able to defend himself i might as well go for an attacking based

moveset. He gets enough bulk from the baton pass boosts anyway.

hidden power grass is for gastrodon and coverage. the only problem

is that if he faints and another weather guy comes i cant bring the

rain in. i have tried to remedy this by vaporeons wish and it seems

to be working fine.

Dugtrio: Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
EV's: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
Move 1: Earthquake
Move 2: Reversal
Move 3: Stealth Rock
Move 4: Substitute

Dugtrio is helpful for trapping and disposing of weather changing

pokemon such as Ninetales, Tyranitar, and other annoying guys. He

is just handy in tight situations when one pokemon is ravaging my

team. i love switching him in on thunder moves aimed at my array of

water pokemon. sucker punch is helpful if a pokemon can outspeed me

and is trying to finish me off on one health. Reversal and stealth

rocks go together quite nicely; if i know i can one hit kill

something with max powered reversal then i use stealth rocks to get

me on one health then reversal. Starmie goes quite well with

dugtrio because it can get rid of spikes or stealth rocks and

Dugtrio can sustain the rain.

Vaporeon: Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EV's: 248 HP, 136 Def, 128 SpD
Nature: Bold
Move 1: Acid armor
Move 2: Baton Pass
Move 3: Wish
Move 4: Roar

Vaporeon is one of the main baton passers on my team, passing the

defense boost of acid armor and wish. Vaporeon is a great at

crippling the opponents team for my other pokemon to finish them

off. She provides support for the team through wish to give my

pokemon a second chance and scald to burn the opponents. Vaporeon

is mainly defensively orientated so it can go the distance; it is

often my last pokemon to be fainted. Roar coupled with dugtrios

stealth rocks allows me to ruin focus sashes, sturdy etc. Wish is

helpful because of vaporeons really high health although i find

that i only get a small boost of health because the opponents

attack tends to nullify the wish health boost. The wish support is

most helpful for dragonite because he is the only pokemon with the

defense to shrug off the damage taken, and politoed so he can bring

the rain again if neccessary. Ultimately it is about giving bulk

for espeon, starmie, politoed or dragonite to pull off a sweep.

Espeon: Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EV's: 252 HP, 4 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Move 1: Baton Pass
Move 2: Calm Mind
Move 3: Stored Power
Move 4: Substitute

Espeon is another baton passer which can pass on the special boosts

to other Pokemon but can also pull off a sweep with the bulk from

acid armor and the special boosts from calm mind. Stored power

seems like the obvious choice for a team based around stat passing

via baton pass. Hidden power fire is specifically for scizor

otherwise pursuit will completely destroy espeon and the baton pass

chain. The advantage of sweeping with Espeon is that you cannot be

paralyzed or poisoned which wears you down and limits longevity.

Starmie: Choice Specs
Ability: Natural Cure
EV's: 252 SpA, 4SpD, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Move 1: Ice Beam
Move 2: Surf
Move 3: Thunder
Move 4: Recover

Starmie is, excuse the pun, the star of my team. Starmie is my main

offensive powerhouse, combined with the boosts from vaporeons acid

armor and espeons calm mind, it becomes somewhat of a god. I used to put rapid spin but espeons magic bounce makes it somewhat redundant and recover allows me to prolong longevity. Starmie uses the expert belt to squeeze every last bit of damage out of the moves without locking it into choice. it also greatly appreciates vaporeon's wish due to the health difference.

Dragonite: Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EV's: 252 HP, 80 Atk sorry typo i meant to put attack, 176 Spe
Nature: Jolly
Move 1: Dragon Dance
Move 2: Dragon Claw
Move 3: Roost
Move 4: Substitute

I have been using this set almost since i got black and white early

last year so when i found this website i was surpirsed to see how

popular it was. the only difference was i used extreme speed over

substitute. Dragonite is a great trump card late in the peace when

your cards are down so to speak. The basic concept is to abuse his

ability multiscale by using dragon dance and roost. I actually came

up with this set when my friend traded me his dragonite and it had

mulitscale (I was trying to finish the pokedex) and I didn't know

what multiscale did, eventually i realised when i was on full

health i lost less health and so i kept on using dragon dance and

roost. 176 Speed Ev's and a jolly nature is to outspeed a all out attacker breloom. With the boosts from espeon and vaporeon dragonite can set

up with relative ease and can shrug off normal 1 or 2 HKO's such as

stone edge from a breloom only taking 11- 13%. Substitute is for setting up dragon dance.

My biggest weaknesses are scizor and ferrothorn
Thanks for reading over and hope you can give suggestions.

The Politoed and Dugtrio are okay.

But, why are you Baton Passing defense boosts to Starmie when you don't have Recover?

Your Espeon gets walled horribly, and it still dies in two unresisted hits and gets raped by priority moves.

Dragonite: Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EV's: 252 HP, 80 SpD, 176 Spe
Nature: Jolly
Move 1: Dragon Dance
Move 2: Dragon Claw
Move 3: Roost
Move 4: Hurricane
wtf is this

What is this EV spread? Why are you running DD/Dragon Claw? What the hell is that nature?

You need to rework your entire team. Dugtrio is only useful if your opponent leaves their weather user in, or your opponent killed one of your Pokemon. And Politoed is beyond useless under almost all circumstances.

Might I suggest a defensive Politoed running Protect/Toxic/Surf/Something?

I put rapid spin so that entry hazards aren't a problem for me but i guess recover will be more useful because if a am trying so sweep with starmie i wont really be switching out much. thanks for your input. i dont really use dragonite much because it ends up being done by starmie and espeon so i haven't really gotten to playing around with his moveset. what might you suggest for Dragonite? I was waiting for someone to comment on the politoed set i will change it when i get ttime. thanks again.

Hello there. First of all, I LOVE the title.

I'd like to say that Pursuit doesn't hit a Pokemon using Baton Pass, so Scizor isn't that much of a concern.

I suggest that you run Timid > Modest on Politoed, which allows it to outpace +1 Adamant Dragonite, and revenge kill it, as the rest of your team won't like taking it on too much. Though somewhat contradictory, I suggest Substitute on Dugtrio over Sucker Punch, as that allows you to sub into a range where you can OHKO Tyranitar with Reversal, as EQ won't kill it. Sub also comes in handy not only for boosting Reversal's power, but also for when your sash is broken. I also suggest Earthquake or Extreme Speed on Dragonite over Hurricane, as otherwise, sun can give your team some trouble. Likewise, Rotom-W is also somewhat threatening to your team, since none of your Pokemon will enjoy switching into it. For this reason, I suggest Ferrothorn > Espeon, because not only do you get a Pokemon that can check Rotom-W, baring choiced Variants that Trick you, but you can also set up more hazards. Espeon, though reflecting status and hazards, isn't really necessary when you have Starmie.

Good luck.

You should definitely be using Stone Edge or Substitute over Sucker Punch. Sucker Punch is completely useless when Dugtrio's job is to get a guaranteed kill with Earthquake or Reversal, why on earth or when would you ever use Sucker Punch? There is absolutely no Pokemon that you can revenge kill with Dugtrio that you can by running Sucker Punch. And Sucker Punch is so weak coming from Dugtrio, that a super effective one just barely does more than a STAB Earthquake. Stone Edge is good for keeping threats like Volcarona and Dragonite from setting up, as right now, you have nothing to revenge kill Dragonite.

You should be running Timid nature on Politoed. As I said, you have nothing to revenge kill Dragonite after it sets up, and it can easily steam roll through your team without something to kill it. By running Timid nature, you can outspeed Adamant Dragonite (the most common ones) and KO it with Ice Beam.

You want to either use Leftovers or Life Orb on Starmie with Rapid Spin. You're forced to switch when you Rapid Spin, that means a free turn for the opponent to use to set up something and sweep your team. With Leftovers Starmie in the Rain is about as powerful as the Life Orb one without Rain because the power boost from Thunderbolt from Thunder being aprox 30%, and the Rain boost to Hydro Pump is 50%. While the Life Orb in the Rain is extremely powerful, it may go down a little too quickly for your liking.

For Espeon, Hidden Power Fire in the Rain is 35 base power, meaning that it's very very weak. To the point that it fails to KO x4 weak Pokemon like Scizor and Ferrothorn. Plus, Pursuit DOES NOT trap and kill you if you simply Baton Pass, meaning that there's absolutely no reason to be using HP Fire. I suggest replacing it with Substitute since it's used in a Baton Pass chain.

Why are you running Hurricane on Dragonite? Sure, it hits Breloom. But is that seriously the reason why? Dragon Dance boosts Attack, you have Atk investments, but your only move to take advantage of that is Dragon Claw. Not to mention it's very situational. You're much better off using Substitute against Breloom to turn it as set up fodder, or an option between Brick Break and Waterfall.

Hi thanks for all the feedback, will definately change politoeds nature. not sure whether to replace espeon for ferrothorn. the pros are that i get better entry hazard support, a defensive wall and check rotom-W whereas the cons are i was wanting to replace starmie's rapid spin with recover so it would be my only defense against entry hazards (though ferrothorn could rapid spin), i lose the baton pass theme and its sweeping capabilities. Sucker Punch was there for when they faster and are trying to finish off dugtrio but i will definately try substitute. I did use substitute on my dragonite and i thought i would try hurricane, like i said before i dont really use it much so i didnt get much opportunity to test it out. I will also change espeons Hidden Power Fire to subsitute. to be honest most of the work is done by vaporeon starmie and espeon. anyway thanks for all the input. btw "awesome title" ikr

EDIT: what did Aerodrome mean by espeon gets walled?
