SS OU Blarghlfarghl's Favorite Team (BANDED TOAD DESTROYS OU)

What's crack-a-lackin' my homies #crackhead. Ever since I've started playing SS OU, I've been using teams given to me by famous users blarghlfarghl (banned for bigotry), hiye (washed tour winner), Jytcampbell, and samqian (the rager) as they tutored me and helped me improve. Eventually, I wanted to make my own unique team so I began browsing the mons list in teambuilder on my mobile showdown browser. I found Conkeldurr to be a very interesting mon to build around as it hits like a truck and isn't that common in OU (I think). Near the end of my teambuilding, I found a certain mon in RU that fit pretty well with my team and was hella fun to use, despite all the negative feedback it received. I am still looking to improve the team and am open to any suggestions, but I wanna keep the toad as it's what makes the team fun to use.

Team In-Depth
conk.png

Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 224 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Mach Punch
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Facade

I started out with Conkeldurr as it's extremely powerful and a major threat to many teams. Not even popular fat birds like Corviknight or Mandibuzz are great switch-ins as Close Combat can 2HKO them. It can even bother a Landorus-Therian switch in with either Knock off or Facade. When this mon gets a free switch-in, it either gets a kill, a free Knock Off/heavy damage, or can give momentum as some switch-ins can be easily predicted. Mach Punch is also great late game as the guts boost gives extra power along with the priority.

lando.png

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Toxic

The next mon I added was a defensive Lando-T that can set up rocks and act as a pivot. Lando-T is one of the most popular OU mons for a reason, as it has great typing and can switch in to many different threats and tank. Rocky Helmet is great for getting chip on opposing mons, and Toxic is very useful when facing annoying mons like mandibuzz or other Lando-T's. There's not much else to say for why I added this mon to my team, this set is very standard and especially benefits it's other teammates like conkeldurr and dragapult.

dragapult.png

Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn
- Thunderbolt

I added a specs Dragapult as this mon hits extremely hard, is amazing as a late-game sweeper, and is great for speed control. U-turn is very helpful for momentum and I chose thunderbolt as my last coverage move as birds can pose somewhat of a threat to this team. Similar to Lando-T, this set is also very standard so there's not much else to say for why I chose to add it to my team.

slowking.png

Slowking-Galar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 80 SpA / 176 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Future Sight
- Sludge Bomb
- Flamethrower
- Earthquake

I felt like I needed a mon with high spdef to be able to tank hard hitting mons, and from my prior experiences facing a fat AV Slowking-Galar, I decided to add it to my team. As expected, Slowking-Galar can tank many sp atk threats, but to my surprise, it can also hit very hard with future sight. Future Sight allows me to have more freedom when making switches for momentum and Regenerator is extremely helpful. I added Earthquake as my last move specifically for heatran, but I am open to changing it.

mandi.png

Mandibuzz (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Big Pecks
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Foul Play
- Defog
- Roost
- U-turn

At this point, I needed a defogger and was stuck between choosing Corviknight or Mandibuzz. I opted for Mandibuzz as it has better typing to deal with massive threats like Dragapult (which my team was really weak to up until this point) and it doesn't take any damage from future sight. It's fully defensive and can deal with threats like kartana and urshifu. Teambuilder suggested this EV spread so I just went with it but if anyone knows any better spreads please let me know.

toad.png

Seismitoad @ Choice Band
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Earthquake
- Power Whip
- Knock Off

Before adding Seismitoad to the team, I had a Heatran. I quickly realized that it didn't fit with my team at all, and was looking for other options when I stumbled upon Seismitoad. I've mainly only seen Seismitoad used on rain teams, and they were extremely strong when I faced them. While looking through it's movepool, I was shocked at how great it's offensive options were. Playing with this set was extremely fun as no one expects it, it hit surprisingly hard, and can just use Knock Off on obvious switch-ins. It has the best defensive type combination in the game and is also pretty bulky. It drastically reduces the threat of Urshifu, as they almost never go for surging strikes when I have the toad lurking in the back.

Threats
buzz.png
+
skarm.png
+
nido.png

I've found that these 3 mons are all very dangerous to my team.
- Buzzwole can run ice punch and take out my Lando-T and is also very bulky with recovery, making it difficult for toad or conk to break through.
- Skarmory is just too fat and with spikes and roost can wear my team down with ease, as I only have Slowking-Galar and thunderbolt Dragapult to break it.
- Nidoking is extremely strong and dangerous due to its diverse movepool. Since I'm running Future Sight on Slowking-Galar and not psychic or psyshock, it becomes even more of a threat.
- The combination of weavile and kartana can be very threatening to the team, especially if conkeldurr gets weak.
- Umbreon can be a bit annoying to the team as well with it's wish-protect set

Love the team dude! I'm not the best at making teams and decided to give someone else's a go because I'm trying to improve my battle skills at the moment and so far I've won 3 battles in a row with it. Luckily I haven't ran into any of the threats listed yet lol. Thank you :)
