SS OU Blazing Petals Sun. Peak 1601- Armageddonsspike (inspired off of Divine Sunlight)

INTRODUCTION
Heyo! Its me. Armageddonsspike. I've been working on sun teams as I really love the abusers and the setter of it and wanted to share this with some people. Ever since crown tundra came out and re-released cinderace I have been pondering making sun again. However, because Zygarde was ever-so prominent in the meta, it became hard for me to build, as there was way too much to cover with sun. As of posting this- Zygarde has been BANNED!!! This frees up a lot of slots on the team which were formerly taken. I believe that Sun can be potentially very good if built properly and I really like how I constructed this team. While I am not the best at using this and I realize there are some kinks in this team, I think its really consistent with neutral matchups.

NOW ONTO THE TEAM MEMBERS

The KOAL.png

Torkoal @ Heat Rock
Ability: Drought
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Body Press
-Stealth rock
- Rest

-Torkoal is the setter for the sun team. With great Defensive stats and a nice movepool for a setter, I like it a lot as a setter. It can check melmetal with lava plume and body press depending on the other neutral Mu's with other teammates. I chose no rapid spin on Torkoal purely because I dont really know as a player how to incorporate safe rapid spins consistently into my games. Body Press is a really nice move as the team sort of struggles to deal with blissey and ttar after cinderace is gone, or takes too much chip. 252+ Def Torkoal Body Press vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tyranitar: 372-440 (92 - 108.9%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO. This is a really nice roll because it hits Tyranitars HARD on switch in. Keep in mind the amount of turns sun has remaining and try and keep rocks off of the field, as this can really hurt this tortoise.

815.png

Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- Zen Headbutt
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn

-Cinderace is a Pivot/Breaker for the team. With its great usage of sun boosted Pyro Ball stab it does massive damage to a lot of things. Zen headbutt allows Cinderace to CHIP and I mean chip, Toxapex. This team sort of struggles with killing Toxapex as haze is pretty annoying. Sucker punch is to hit things like Latios who resist most of Venusars moves with the only move being Sludge Bomb. Sucker also makes Cinder a fantastic revenger to stuff like Spectrier if the check on this team fails. Uturn is just a fantastic move on Cinderace as it generates momentum and pretty nice chip. Generating momentum on sun is INCREDIBLY important because as the game progresses you will find it harder to switch in, so you want to prevent them from dealing as much chip as possible.

VENUSAUR.png

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Growth
- Weather Ball
- Giga Drain
- Earth Power

-Venusaur is the designated sweeper on this team. With its STRONG coverage and access to an amazing speed tier after sun, this mon could be argued to be the best weather abuser of all weather. This mon is a threat to MOST teams if you can get it going, it isn't surprising to see early 6-0s after one growth. The main problem this mon faces is safe and unbothered switch ins. Luckily, Toxapex aka ( Satan himself) provides a nice switch in for it. A lot of them are running knock and spikes at the moment and Venusaur doesn't mind knock TOO much from my experience. After you get it in, the set pretty much autopilots itself, with it having access to earth power early on if the pex hazes prematurely. This is one of the switch ins which I really think this sweeper is unique to being able to abuse. It appreciates Blissey and stuff like Tyranitar being gone as that may himper the effecitveness of its stabs and cause it to get chipped too much or completely shut down and die. LO is my preffered item on the mon but you can use something like expert belt to not take additional chip.

THE DON.jpg

Gastrodon-East @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Clear Smog

-Gastrodon is one of the defensive staples of this team. With its amazing ability, typing, pretty good coverage and good defensive stats, it provides this team with a defensive backbone that can take eqs, scalds, hurricanes, pumps, and other moves that threaten the health of the team. Scald enables Gastrodon to have a shot at a burn, which REALLY helps with its overall tankiness, as this little guy is still a bit frail. Earthquake allows it to just obliterate heatran without any second thought. Recover and clear smog help take out boosters, you can run something else over clear smog but I like it because it just helps with scary matchups. BE CAREFUL when using this mon. While this is a defensive mon, it IS NOT a mon who wants to switch in on everything. Be aware of potential moves like trick which basically strips Gastrodon of its utility. This mon is also the teams essential ground. With Regieleki running amok, you want to have a ground so it doesnt decimate your team.
CLEFABLE.jpg

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aromatherapy
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Flamethrower

-Clefable is another defensive mon on the team. It provides really nice status clearance and provides key resists to a lot of threats. Unaware was chosen PURELY for the stat boosters. I have found that once Pheromosa gets going, you cant stop it unless you make this mon Unaware. Moonblast is to hit mosa, urshifu, and other mons which provide problems for the team. Flamethrower goes a long with with this set. 0 SpA Clefable Flamethrower vs. 244 HP / 0 SpD Melmetal in Sun: 264-312 (55.9 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO. This move right here REALLY HELPS with the Melmetal matchup. It forces Melmetal out and can burn which is really great. Hitting steels with this move in sun is a really nice addition to this mons toolkit. So if you predict right with this, Melmetal no longer becomes an issue on switch in. Soft boiled is just an essential on Clefable at this point. It provides longevity and can overall make this mon a pain to deal with on teams who have no good breaker to hit this.

Hydra.png

Hydreigon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 68 SpD / 188 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Defog
- Earth Power
- Dark Pulse

-Hydreigon is the last member of the team. Its excellent bulk and access to a nice movepool and typing make it a great defogger for this team. Its a great Spectrier check who happens to have an amazing ability coupled with longevity. Defog is run solely due to the fact that sun cannot consistently deal with hazards. Earth Power hits stuff like Heatran, Toxapex, Steels, etc. Dark pulse is for Spectrier and is a great stab in general. This mon is Ev'd specifically to outspeed max Timid Heatran who might get in this mons way of doing its job. 252 Hp and 68 Spdef hep hydreigon to tank hits. This mon is the only form of hazard control and is weak to uturn. Be wary when using this mon haphazardly.

SO THATS ALL FOLKS. This team isn't the best, I know that. It can be a bit of a match up fish, particularly against something like garchomp who resists cinderace's main stab and punishes its uturn and High Jump kicks. I still think the user can overcome this teams flaws and take it to somewhere I cant.

THINGS TO LOOKOUT FOR.
Dragons
- Strong Dragon types in general cause issues for the team, as Clefable cant take repeated coverage moves like earthquake or stone edge.
Melmetal- Melmetal is still an issue. Torkoal is going to be your main way to deal with it from my experience but Earthquake still hurts a ton. It might be wise to double switch into something like Cinder.
Landorus Therian- Lando T is a very effective pivot against this team. It threatens ace out, and the scarf set forces it out without ace being able to uturn. It pivots in pretty easily and its strong stabs are a pain to deal with. If it is scarf you can sort of bait it with hydreigon but U turn is gonna be scary.

IMPORT IF YOU WANT TO USE THE TEAM

Hope to see you guys on ladder!!
