Alright, so as my first post, i decided that i would make a sun mixed ubers team, because honestly, I'm really sortof sick of kyogre being in, like, half the teams i go up against. I'm looking for suggestions, so criticism is welcome and wanted.
AT A GLANCE
Team Building Process
So, as I was making an ubers sun team, I obviously need Groudon to provide sun and rocks.
Next, I wanted a main special sun abuser. Specs Reshiram was chosen for the job.
Now, I need a good physical-based sweeper as well. Blaziken got the place because it's amazing how many KOs it can net when it gets going.
Now, I needed some more hazards to get the most out of my offense and a check to the omnipresent Kyogre, which is obviously a threat to my team. Ferrothorn took it.
I needed a powerful special sweeper that could operate out of sun and in unfavorable weather, especially rain. Arceus-Ghost was chosen as it sets up so easily and is bulky enough to be a pinch special sponge for kyogre if ferro goes down.
Finally, I needed my own check/counter to a lot of threats so i wouldn't fall apart. Giratina-O got the position for its ability to check/counter many necessary threats, like extremekiller Arceus, Blaziken, and a picker-off for weakened mewtwo, which i otherwise have quite the hard time beating.
IN DEPTH
Groudon @ Leftovers Trait: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
- Overheat
- Stealth Rock
Apart from being necessary to provide sun, Groudon also fills other necessary holes in my team. First of all, he reliably gets down stealth rock, which has been time and time again called the best move in the game. Honestly, it is so helpful for breaking the sash/sturdy/multiscale of opposing pokemon and really helps me handle rayquaza and dragonite, 2 otherwise fairly viable threats to my team. Also, he provides phazing that can come in handy to end an extremekiller sweep early, although this is a bit of a pinch measure as repeated boosted extremespeeds will not hesitate to destroy it. You'll notice over the course of this RMT that I'm fairly paranoid about Extremekiller Arceus, but it's pretty justified when Extremekiller is arguably the most threatening pokemon out there. Earthquake because honestly, who uses groudon without earthquake and overheat for physically defensive behemoth steels like forry, ferro, and skarmory.
Blaziken (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Hi Jump Kick
- Flare Blitz
- Protect
- Swords Dance
Oh my god this thing is so useful. Honestly, a lot of opponents will switch to their physical wall when they see this, anticipating protect. Well, as they switch, i say, to hell with protect, SD! Now, unless it's giratina (which I will anticipate and eliminate beforehand) or slowbro (-_-), their wall is sortof screwed as they are now up against a +2 Atk. +1Speed offensive behemoth that will shred them. Leftovers are because I tried life orb, but all the recoil just didn't justify the extra power, and as this is meant to sweep entire teams and is fairly frail, the extra staying power is needed.
Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Leech Seed
- Protect
Ok, before I begin, I would just like to say something. some people worship ferrothorn in OU like a god or "the best pokemon ever", but it's actually much better in Ubers, where it's able to check some of the most dangerous threats, including Scarf Palkia (not locked into fblast, obviously), Kyogre, and dragons that lack a fire move. Spikes and a reliable Kyogre check are actually all I really expect from this set, so for me, it does its job pretty well. Also, if any of you are questioning my idea of putting a 4x fire weak poke on a sun team to make it 6x weak, it's already going to die to every single fire attack in ubers, so...
Reshiram @ Choice Specs
Trait: Turboblaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)/Modest Nature (+Satk -Atk)--
(I'm really not sure because timid really helps for outspeeding but modest helps me get a lot of necessary 2KOs and makes the only that doesn't get 2KOed Chansey (damn you chansey, prepare to get owned by blaziken), so help is wanted.)
- Draco Meteor
- Blue Flare
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower
The powerhouse of my team. This is most commonly my cleanup if my sweep ended short, as it's as easy as clicking "Blue Flare" and sitting back, as pretty much everything takes huge damage from it. Like, Sun-Boosted STAB Specs Blue Flare is~292 BP attack coming off of 598 Special Attack. It's crazy. Eviolite Chansey takes 44-51% from it, a sure 2KO with stealth rock or a layer of spikes. Flamethrower is used in one situation and one situation only, and that is where it's the last pokemon, you know that you can beat them all with a fire move, and you can't afford to miss. Draco meteor for things that resist fire but are dragon weak, and dragon pulse for reliable damage with no immunities.
Giratina-O @ Griseous Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 248 Atk / 252 SAtk / 8 Spd
Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Shadow Sneak
- Will-O-Wisp
This guy may be replaced in the future, but I really need him for support and walling against 2 of the metagame's biggest threats, Extremekiller Arceus and Blaziken. There's really nothing to say here, as the set is pretty self-explanatory. Next.
Arceus-Dark @ Dread Plate
Trait: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Judgment
- Substitute
- Recover
- Calm Mind
I've always maintained that arceus is the king of setup, and this is no exception. Bearing just enough speed and bulk that is borderline overkill, this is also a defensive pivot and a pinch switchin to Arceus extremespeed. After setup, this thing is a monster. You and Blissey can't hide either, Chansey, because this guy can beat you.
Thanks again for reading my RMT, and all criticism and suggestions are welcome!
