[SET COMMENTS]
Although it competes for a teamslot with its bulkier pre-evolution, Blissey retains a niche thanks to a couple of traits that are of interest to certain bulky and stall teams. Notably, Blissey does not have to hold Eviolite, which lets it hold the beneficial Heavy-Duty Boots or Leftovers. Blissey is also less crippled by Knock Off, and it can run a Calm Mind set that lets it beat Gholdengo. Seismic Toss lets Blissey to chip every Pokemon that isn't a Ghost-type and allows it to damage any Steel-types looking to switch in on Toxic. Soft Boiled gives Blissey instant recovery, however Wish is an alternative with greater PP, which can be useful for the prolonged games that Blissey often finds itself apart of, and it allows Blissey to heal teammates if necessary. However, it also encourages running Protect in the last moveslot, which can be restrictive. Both Wish and Soft Boiled can be run on the same set to maximize recovery PP and still allow Blissey to pass Wishes to its teammates, although Blissey generally prefers other moves in the last moveslot. Toxic allows Blissey to impair threats such as Raging Bolt, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Latios. This also makes it risky for many physical attackers to switch in, such as Zamazenta, Landorus-T, and Garchomp. Calm Mind is a niche alternative that should only be used on stall teams lacking Clodsire, as it allows Blissey to beat many Gholdengo sets at the cost of becoming extremely passive into many other matchups. Many variants of Blissey can afford to fit Stealth Rock in their moveset, and it has a good matchup versus some hazard removal options like Zapdos and Terapagos. Teleport is an option that gives Blissey a small niche on non-stall teams, as it lets it keep up momentum for some balance teams. Flamethrower is used on the Calm Mind set to beat Gholdengo. Heavy-Duty Boots makes Blissey impervious to hazards, something its pre-evolution Chansey cannot claim. This makes Blissey significantly less fickle to use than Chansey, which can be vulnerable to entry hazard chip otherwise. Leftovers is a viable alternative that gives some passive recovery, a useful trait in matchups versus very powerful special attackers like Tapu Lele, Gholdengo, and sun boosted Raging Bolt.
Blissey is primarily seen on stall teams as a special wall that handles dangerous wall breakers such as Mega Charizard Y, Mega Latios, and Volcarona. As Blissey's defensive profile is inherently flawed due to its passivity and bad physical bulk, it needs teammates that can reliably switch into dangerous physical wallbreakers such as Zamazenta, Urshifu-RS, and Garchomp. Dondozo is an excellent choice that blanket checks the vast majority of physical attackers in the tier thanks to its immense physical bulk, access to Curse, and Unaware, which also lets it beat physical boosting threats like Dragonite and Swords Dance Urshifu. Iron Defense Corviknight and Skarmory are also good choices, as they do a great job of pressuring certain physically boosting wallbreakers like Kingambit, Ursaluna, and Mega Mawile. Blissey is also very poor into Gholdengo if it isn't running Calm Mind. Clodsire is a nice option that counters all relevant Gholdengo sets, and it also takes pressure off Blissey to check other special attackers. Gliscor is another great partner that fits on stall, as it can stack hazards for its team and gives Blissey a Knock Off absorber that still checks Gholdengo. Blissey can also pass all of these Pokemon Wish, which is helpful even in spite of their own recovery moves so they can preserve their PP and not waste turns recovering themselves, and it also means that Dondozo doesn't have to shut itself down with Rest. Teleport is to be run on more balanced teams. While it competes with the excellent Galarian Slowking and Assault Vest Alomomola as a Specially Defensive pivot, Blissey's sheer special bulk and lack of relevant special weaknesses make it superior into certain wallbreakers, such as Mega Latios, Mega Charizard Y, and Raging Bolt. On such teams, Blissey can pivot in strong wallbreakers such as Zamazenta, Garchomp, and Landorus-T. These especially appreciate Blissey baiting in Steel-types for them to take advantage of with a free switch.
