Offensive Pivot
- Surf
- Secret Sword / Aura Sphere
- Flip Turn
- Vacuum Wave
Item: Heavy-Duty Boots
Tera Type: Water / Fighting / Electric
Ability: Justified
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Keldeo's unique typing and high Special Attack give it a niche as an offensive pivot in the OU metagame. Aura Sphere and Secret Sword are interchangeable; Aura Sphere has a higher PP count while Secret Sword deals more damage to targets such as Roaring Moon, Ting-Lu, and Assault Vest Alomomola. Flip Turn helps Keldeo pivot out of bad matchups and preserve momentum. Finally, Vacuum Wave can finish off weakened targets such as Kingambit, Roaring Moon, and Tera Normal Dragonite to prevent them from sweeping. Heavy-Duty Boots keep Keldeo healthy in longer games by denying hazard damage. Tera Water allows Surf to reach damage thresholds including 2HKOing bulky Gholdengo and guaranteeing an OHKO on Iron Valiant. Tera Fighting makes Vacuum Wave a guaranteed OHKO against Kingambit as well as reversing its matchup against Ogerpon-Wellspring, as the combination of Secret Sword and Vacuum Wave now defeats it from full HP. Tera Electric is a niche option that gives Keldeo a favorable matchup into Zapdos, which normally answers it.
The longevity provided by Heavy-Duty Boots allows Keldeo to fit onto bulky offense teams that appreciate its ability to break down defensive cores with its powerful STAB moves and pivoting ability. Sinistcha is an excellent partner for Keldeo, as Keldeo checks Kingambit and Hisuian Samurott while Sinistcha checks Ogerpon-Wellspring and blocks Rapid Spin. Keldeo struggles to break through Galarian Slowking, so it appreciates Pokemon such as Ting-Lu, Gliscor, and Tinkaton that can pivot into it and set entry hazards. Gliscor in particular is able to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from the opposing team with Knock Off, though it needs to watch out for Ice Beam from Galarian Slowking. Tinkaton is also able to answer Dragapult, another Pokemon Keldeo struggles against, and Pickpocket allows it to potentially steal Dragapult's Heavy-Duty Boots. Ogerpon-Wellspring shuts down Keldeo by virtue of being immune to Flip Turn, so a long-term Ogerpon-Wellspring answer, such as the aforementioned Sinistcha, Hydrapple, Pecharunt, or Roost Dragonite, is necessary when using Keldeo.
