Born in the U.S.A.

Hi all guys, I'm back with a new team for the RU tier.

The star of this new team is Braviary which is based on the symbol of the USA, the Eagle.
Let's see the building phase:

Ani330MS5.gif

All started from Braviary, a real powerful bird for this tier. At the beginning I wanted to use the Sub+Bulk Up set, but it was too slow, so I opted for the Scarfed set, which makes it a great revengekiller and a good cleaner too. For the core I choose a Braviary+Flygon core. They have a good synergy for the double U-turn in primis, then Flygon is a good partner because he can check Rocks types, defog the stealths and counter the electric types.

Ani362MS5.gif

My core really fears the ice, so I choosed the next members heeping in mind this. That's why I choosed Slowking at first and Steelix then. Slowking is an awesome pokemon. With the defensive sweeper set he can check a lot of mons while he can boost with CMind and then hit opponents. Coming back to Braviary, he has a great synergy with powerful wallbreakers. So I wanted a good looking, powerful pokemon, maybe with a priority... The answer was Mega-Glalie. So here the fourth member of the team. He has a great synergy with Flygon too, seeing the Defog set. Slowking is good to check is fire and steel weakness.

Ani208MS5.gif

At this point I read all the tier list and I wrote all the mons that could create me problems. A lot of these mons (like Absol, Alomomola, Clawitzer, Jellicent) are checked by Virizion, so why don't choose him as fifth member? So I decided for the Special Sweeper set for two reasons: first I don't have to worry about WoWs, then I have a lot of Physical members, so... Finally my last member is Steelix. I made the same reasoning made with Virizion... A lot of pokemon that gives me troubles can be checked by Steelix. With these six members the only pokemon that I can't counter is Spiritomb, but I can stall him with Toxic so...

MOVESETS (I know that the descriptions of the movesets are short, but they are all pretty standard sets):
192px-Sprxym628.gif

Braviary @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Return
- Superpower
- U-turn

The star of the team. A powerful mon with a powerful ability and a powerful set. It's standard, nothing to say. Two STABs+coverage and U-turn for the combo with Flygon.
Sprxymsh330.gif

Flygon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Atk / 80 Def / 116 SpD / 24 Spe
Careful Nature
- Defog
- Earthquake
- Roost
- U-turn

This is a pretty strange Evs spread. Why? Well, I choosed the classical 252/116/116/24 set, but I preferred to give him 36 Evs in atk to OHKO Emboar after stealths and 80 evs in def to resist its Superpower. Maybe is a stupid thing, but I wanted to test it D:
For the rest is a classic defensive defogger set.
Sprxym362.gif

Glalie (M) @ Glalitite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Return
- Ice Shard
- Freeze-Dry
- Earthquake

Here the monster D: I love this mon he is too much powerful. The only doubt is on Return/Double Edge. I prefer to avoid the recoil, but maybe is better hte more powerful move...
Sprxym199.gif

Slowking (M) @ Colbur Berry/Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Scald
- Slack Off/Ice Beam/Fire Blast

A classic defensive sweeper set, with CMind>Nasty Plot, to give him more defensive power. Boost+2STABs, but I'm not sure for the fourth move. Usually I run Slack Off, but Ice Beam is a good coverage move (even if I have Glalie). At the beginning I thought to Fire Blast as fourth move to hit mons like Escavalier, but then I gave HPFire to Virizion. For the item I am testing if is better the berry or the Leftovers. SOmetimes the berry is too much useful compared to the Left.
Sprxymsh640.gif

Virizion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Fire]

A standard special sweeper set. Cmind to boost and three move for STAB and Coverage. As I said before, HP Fire is to hit mons like Escavalier. Seeing the presence of Glalie, I think that HP Ice is quite useless...
Sprxym208.gif

Steelix (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 244 HP / 136 Atk / 128 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Toxic

ALso here a classic set for the NU tier, but I wanted a steel type which could set rocks, so Steelix was perfect. 2 STABs to hit and Toxic to stall mons like Spiritomb which gives me a lot of problems.

So this is the team, I have to say that I made a lot of victories testing it (maybe I took all scarce people D:)
I hope someone will help me to improve it, thanks in advance :D

Hi, pretty cool team and it synergizes pretty well. I also really like that Flygon spread. I do think there are a few things that could be changed in order to make the team better.

First off I don't really think Steelix is the Pokemon of choice here. But suggesting from you're team you'll want a Tyrantrum answer that doesn't die to outrage, Stealth Rocker, and Dark resist (Virizion can revenge kill but I wouldn't rely on that. The itself is very weak to Sneasel as well which is why I suggest Mawile > Steelix Not only does it patch up all of those holes but also fits with the U-turn core you have. The set would be Stealth Rock, Play Rough, Baton Pass and an option of either Swords Dance or Super Fang. Super Fang cripples defensive walls like Registeel and Mega Steelix that are switching in while Swords Dance can be Baton Passed to either Mega Glalie or Braviary to help them clean up late game.

When you talked about Mega Glalie you said wanted more power but you're scared of the recoil. You're team fends of Stealth Rock users pretty well and you the most consistent Defogger in Defensive Flygon so I am confident you can go with Double-Edge > Return. Of course the SD Pass from Mawile might be enough for you to consider Return still but I thought I would point out you're good hazard removal.

Finally ilI would talk about you're decision on Hidden Power Fire on Virizion. While I completely understand the need for the Escalivier lure you do lose that precious speed tie with other Virizion. So there are to routes I could take. Either I would keep Hidden Power Fire, or I would switch Hidden Power Ice > Fire and change Psyshock on Slowing to Fire Blast, you gain a much better lure to Edca since it feels more comfortable on switching.

Finally change the 8 Special Defense EVs on Slowking to Speed like I have already said weak to Escalivier, simply transferring these 8EVs beats Smogon's spread for those who just copy and paste it.

I hope I helped

EditEdit here is the Mawile set
Mawile @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Play Rough
- Stealth Rock
- Baton Pass
- Swords Dance

Hi man and thank u for the rate. U were really quicky to answer :D

Anyway:

- Mawile. I didn't think to Mawile sincerely, it seems a good idea. The only doubt that I have with this choice is that I lose toxic, I don't know if it's a problem or not, but I annoyed a lot of mons with it (expecially Spiritomb). It's also true that with a STAB Play Rough I can check Spiritomb, but I fear the WoW... For this reason I think that Swords Dance could work well, repairing to the atk drop, on the other side Super Fang can be really useful... Serious I don't know what to choose D: Anyway it's a great idea man, thank u for it.

- Mega-Glalie. Sincerely, until now I had no occasion to regret Double-Edge, Return has always worked perfectly... that's why I think I'll continue to run Return, maybe with the boost from Mawile, why not.

- Virizion. Understood the problem, I didn't thought that with HPFire I have 30 ivs in spe D: Maybe the solution is Fire Blast on Slowking and lose the STAB, I think it can works... There are not many mons which needs the Psyshock from Slowking...

Hi, nice team. Really like the use of choice scarf Braviary as it is rarely seen in the current metagame. While Zelfie made some solid points, I feel like there are other ways to fix your team. :]

Firstly, I agree with Take Azelfie on changing HP fire to HP ice on Virizion. Hp ice is pretty much a staple on Virizion so that it doesn't get walled by flying types, like golbat and togetic, while hitting grass types supereffectively like venusaur, and hitting dragons like flygon. Hp fire only has one target in Escavalier as focus blast covers the primary steel types in this metagame.

The Slowking sets you have can be beneficial, however I recommend a different one that can be very beneficial in providing synergy to Glalie in cleaning. I would recommend a set of Thunder Wave / Calm Mind / Scald / Slack Off. This allows Slowking to act as a defensive set up sweeper, while also sufficiently providing support to your team by spreading thunder wave. Thunder wave is very beneficial to specific pokemon on this team, i.e; Mega Glalie and Virizion as you can cripple scarfers and Pokemon that outspeed mega glalie as it is very hard to check with defensive pokemon. I would also recommend always running Colbur Berry over Leftovers due to the lack of a dark resist, as virizion does not like losing it's life orb to a knock off, and because of the advantageous nature in switching into this move. Also, I agree with azelfie in running 8 speed to creep opposing base 30s.

Assuming this is for a the suspect without ttrum and mlix, due to ur usage of regular lix, I would using a registeel over this regular lix. This team severely lacks a switch in to venusaur and Registeel can be a very nice answer. Your switch in Flygon, can be very passive and easily threatened by leaf storm and switching out. Registeel can act as your stealth rocker, get off passive damage with seismic toss, use protect to scout for scarfers, damage high jump kick users, and scout in general, as well have toxic for bulky waters that switch in. This also acts as a ttrum switch in, in the case that you are using this in a meta with the both after this suspect test.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss

change viriz to hp ice / change slowking to twave > last slot

Otherwise, your team works well, specially defensive flygon can work when you are lacking a sufficient emboar / houndoom / delphox switch in and mega glalie and special virizion can work well together. Hope I helped. :toast:

Mmm ok for Virizion and Slowking, I'll try if is better Thunder Wave or Fire Blast. Maybe the first in case of scarfers, but Fire Blast is a great coverage move on Slowking...

Also Registeel seems a good idea as last member, now I'm trying with Mawile and I have to say that it works really well with SD+Baton Pass, but I will surely try Registeel seeing that he can spam toxic, he is more similar to Steelix differently from Mawile.

Anyway thanks u too for the rate, I really like when more people answer to my threath, in this way I can compare all the tips that u give me
