When equipped with a Choice Scarf, Braviary is able to reliably revenge kill many potent threats in the metagame, such as Virizion, +1 Frosmoth, Choice Band Rillaboom, and Salazzle. Braviary is usually used to clean late game, but it often needs a substantial amount of support to do so.
Brave Bird is Braviary's main STAB attack, and allows it to revenge kill the aforementioned threats, alongside many others, such as Decidueye and Toxicroak; its high Attack stat allows it to KO even neutral offensive Pokemon like Salazzle and Indeedee. Close Combat is used so as to hit Rock- and Steel-type pokemon in Rhydon, Coalossal, Copperajah and Steelix, and can enable Braviary to freely click Brave Bird later on. U-Turn allows Braviary to nab momentum for its teammates. Lastly, Facade is used as a Normal-type STAB attack, allowing Braviary to potentially punish status from the likes of Charizard and Steelix, whilst also acting as decent neutral coverage, although Defog is an option on teams that require a last-ditch form of hazard removal.
Braviary appreciates Spikes support as they can whittle down Braviary's most consistent answers, Rhydon and Steelix. Due to this, Spikers such as Coalossal, Garbodor, and Qwilfish are worthwhile teammates, and in return, Braviary's amazing supportive ability in Defiant can dissuade hazard removal. Braviary also dissuades removal of Sticky Web, which enables it to outspeed opposing scarfers and therefore clean more effectively; thus, Vikavolt can be a good partner. Conversely, Braviary's Flying-type making it vulnerable to Stealth Rock, hampering its ability to spam Brave Bird or survive a revenge killing attempt may necessitate hazard removal on its teammates part, from spinners like Coalossal and Dhelmise, or Defoggers like Charizard and Silvally-Fairy. Choice Scarf Braviary finds it immensely difficult to break through Steelix despite its access to the coveted Close Combat - due to this, Pokemon that can reliably deal with Steelix and Steel-types in general, such as Jellicent, Virizion, and Passimian are worth considering. Pokemon that benefit from Steelix being worn down, such as Silvally-Fairy, Vanniluxe, and Alolan Raichu are also effective partners, as they in return can eliminate a weakened Steelix and then proceed to wallbreak freely.

Albeit very similar in nature to the Choice Scarf set, Braviary becomes much more difficult to handle defensively when holding a Choice Band - though this is not without its drawbacks. Whilst its good coverage options and great Attack stat leave it a potent wallbreaker, its Speed tier can prove to be very awkward at times - this leads it to be more vulnerable to offensive pressure, from the likes of Virizion, Rotom-C, and Alolan Raichu. This also means that it cannot reliably revenge kill Pokemon it normally would be able to, such as Rillaboom, Toxicroak, and Virizion. Its moveset is fairly self-explanatory; Brave Bird and Close Combat cover the majority of the tier, U-turn generates momentum for Braviary's teammates, and Facade is decent neutral coverage. The power of Choice Band Braviary is not to be underestimated - it can place immense offensive pressure on teams. However, its Stealth Rock weakness, vulnerability to recoil damage from Brave Bird, in addition to being slower than the large majority of offensive Pokemon means that it more often than not has to tank a hit before dishing out damage, which really limits how many times it is able to attack throughout the course of a game.
Braviary's awry Speed tier in conjunction with its great supportive ability in Defiant make it a great fit on Sticky Web teams; as such, teammates such as Vikavolt or Galvantula work well. Late-game cleaners who appreciate Braviary's ability to wallbreak early on, such as Scrafty, Silvally-Fairy, and Indeedee-M all work well too. Grass-types such as Virizion and Rillaboom work well with Braviary as they are able to check Rock- and Electric-types; this offers the synergistic value of being able to wear each other's respective checks down. Hazard Removal from the likes of Silvally-Fairy, Charizard, and Coalossal is beneficial, as it allows Braviary to more regularly pivot in and wallbreak. Pokemon that appreciate the removal or weakening of Steel- and Rock- types such as Steelix, Copperajah, and Rhydon synergise with Braviary; as such, Silvally-Fairy, Frosmoth, and Salazzle respectively make for good teammates.
