Brawl+ Discussion

I have recently become witness to the 2nd coming of Smash. It's called Brawl+. I'm sure many of you have heard of it, but I'm hoping there are at least a few of you who have this. It's like taking Melee and mashing it into Brawl, almost. Character tweaks were made to help balance the playing field. For instance, Captain Falcon's FAir knee has a new sweetspot (almost like Melee's) making him far more deadly. Ganondorf got his aerial-downB-jump-again combo back. King Dedede lost his chain throw, but his DAir is more easily comboed now. Everyone is a lot more playable, or in the case of the overpowereds, a lot less borked.

If you're interested in getting it, just google.

I absolutely love it. I'm still maining metaknight because he can still be played in about the brawl fashion (minus tornado spam). However I'm working on sheik who is incredible.

Brawl+ is my god.

Singlehandedly made me quit Brawl despite me liking the game at first. Best decision I've ever made. It really does take the best aspects of both games into account. Not to mention approaching with Falco is...*gasp* feasible!?

I would say more, but I do have other matters to attend to. I have some Youtube videos of + floating around somewhere.

I don't see why the topic is necessary; this could very well be in the Brawl discussion thread. Why not have a Balanced Brawl topic, then?

Anyway, I'm not a fan of Brawl+. It's got several things that ruin the experience of playing for me (hitstun, how they got rid of autograbbing the edge from upB's, etc). Not to mention it's pretty laughable they can call it the most balanced version out there, when they just keep changing things entirely on every new hack released. PSA means they will change it again, so their grasp on how balanced it is is shaky at best.

To each their own, however!

Putting Brawl+ discussion in the regular Brawl thread is like discussing Heracross in a RBY thread >_>

Anyway, you don't get anything right the first time. If so, it's very rare. I don't mind constant updates. You gotta mix it up to get the right recipe :)

Anyone down for online play? hrm?

Well it's not so much an issue of getting it right the first time as much as it is changing characters drastically when new codes appear as to not be able to track the changes as well as they should. I do expect eventually Brawl+ to be as balanced as they currently claim when things simmer down and the only new changes are simply tweaks and not rehauls of moves, but that may take a while.

You're actually quite close to Thunderhorse, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind Brawl+ing you online!

Ahhhhh Brawl+

My only experience with this is playing Thunderhorse for like 4.5 hours over shit-fi, so I guess I can't say all that much. From what I played it seemed pretty fun. It was frustrating at times, but that could be at least partially attributed to my general lack of knowledge of the game. I'm not so hot on some of the decisions however... such as the complete removal of "auto-ledgegrabbing" (or whatever it's called) and the complete removal of hitlag, which makes moves like G&W's turtle leagues more ridiculous, especially when combined with the universal reduction of aerial move landing lag. Perhaps that perception is due to my lack of knowledge of the game though!

Outside of the game itself the balancing process seems wonky, with, as esc mentioned, it changing so much (with sometimes seemingly silly/arbitrary modifications) that I can't see how it can be truly taken seriously at this point. I personally view it as an interesting/fun aside :).

As such I'd love to play you on wifi kholdstaire! Mayhaps we could get some 2v2s going as well if Naucitos is around. You should get on #smash sometime ;).

Brawl+ Fox is gayer than vBrawl Meta Knight, his combos are mindless. Brawl+ is more balanced, though.

I have the current daily build from the SWF Smash Workshop and can play online.

Brawl+ may or may not be more balanced than vBrawl. It's really the bottom tier of vBrawl that makes it iffy. The difference between them and Midtier is a lot wider than Midtier and Toptier. In Brawl+, everyone has something gay to work with, though I don't suspect it's too balanced, despite claims otherwise.

BBrawl is the bomb :3
But if Brawl+ ever releases a final codeset or a completed product, I'll give it a try again.

To me, Brawl+ has too much hitstun if anything, almost rediculous. It does allow for combos, but it's a lot of characters being able to do a lot of stupid stuff that can't be countered sometimes.

I like BBrawl better, but the again I mostly played Brawl+ using a recent Ike PSA hack.

For every person who thinks brawl+ is melee 2..
god kills a kitten.
xD
Yeah I love it, Gannondorf is broken!
(I main him he is epic!)
