Breloom Power!

Alright, i'm pretty much a noob at competitive battling! This is not only my first RMT, but my first post on the smogon forums. My favourite pokemon is of course the almighty breloom. I decided to make this team around breloom..

Team at a glance:

094.gif
149.gif
286.gif
642-therian.gif
178.gif

So, pretty much this is the finished team. I really like this team but it has got a big weakness to ice. Any suggestions would be welcome.

620.gif

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- Fake Out
- Hi Jump Kick
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Of course, with every team, there is a lead. I was thinking what could i use.. I could be unoriginal and use ferrothorn? or maybe deoxys-d.. mienshao is a really underated pokemon in my opinion so i decided to make it my lead. Fake out to get some cheap damage, hi jump kick as a very powerful stab move. U turn for the obvious psychic types, and hp ice becaus i didn't know what else to put. With regenerator, life orb damage can be healed back! Of course it hasn't got the best defenses but whatever:P

Gengar @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Disable
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
At this point, i really just wanted to try out sub disable gengar.. And its been working out very well. Gengar has massive sp atk and speed and pretty decent typing. It also has immunity to 3 types which is very good. This is a very important pokemon to my team and gengar is a pokemon i've always loved. I normally substitue to scout out what they're gonna do, maybe substitute again and then disable! I will then proceed to destroying some crap!

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- ExtremeSpeed

At this point, i needed something that can be a powerful sweeper. I chose none other than Dragonite. I decided to go with a more bulkier ev spread with leftovers. Dragonite got a fantastic new ability in Gen V which is multiscale. This means that it can easily set up a dragon dance. Theres not much to say here so forgive me if this is a little short.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Focus Punch
- Seed Bomb

Here is the big boss of this team. BRELOOM. Breloom by far is my favourite pokemon of all time. With its fantastic attack it can be a fearsome sweeper. It is not my favourite pokemon only because it is so good competitively, but it is also the first shiny and first pokemon i have ever caught! I decided, instead of the usual technician set i would use, I would use a poison heal sub punch set. At the right time, if i can switch breloom in, i can easily sweep with breloom. I decided not to put spore on breloom just to be a little orginal i guess.

Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch

Next is thundurus-t. Now that Tornadus-T is ubers, players have no other choice but to use this is a replacement. With a massive sp atk of over 140, this thing can easily destroy teams. But with its 91 base speed, it wont be able to outspeed everything. This is why i decided to go with a scarfed thund-t. Thunderbolt is for obvious stab damage, focus blast for coverage, hidden power ice because ice is awesome and volt switch cos its also awesome. Yes, very detailed. I don't really know what to say tbh.

Xatu @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Gentle Nature
- Toxic
- U-turn
- Wish
- Heat Wave

Standard magic bounce xatu. I didn't really know what to put in my team so I decided to go with xatu. At first I wanted to put espeon, but i decided to go with Xatu. Having heat wave on this xatu is really helpful especially when some bug types come in or when a ferrothorn is here:P Otherwise, this set is pretty standard. Sorry if this is pretty short too because I just don't know what to say xD

I'm sorry if this RMT is kinda crappy, but I apologise. Any suggestions will be welcome and thanks for reading this.

Goodbye.

Hey!

Nice team you have here, Toxic Orb Breloom so props for using it. However, looking at your team, it seems weak to Volcarona. It after a Quiver Dance smashs your team and it can setup on Mienshao, Gengar and Breloom easily. To solve this weakness, I suggest you to use Choice Scarf Landorus replacing Thundurus-T because CS Landorus can revenge-kill Volcarona after a Quiver Dance without any problem because it can revenge-kill dragon-types like Salamence and opposing Dragonite too and because it has a turn move too called U-Turn which is useful in combination with Xatu and Mienshao's U-turn to gain useful momentum. I'd use a EV spread of 252 Atk / 252 Spe / SAtk with a moveset of Earthquake, Stone Edge, U-Turn and Hidden Power Ice, with Naive nature and with Choice Scarf of course. Then, on Dragonite I suggest you to change Leftovers into Lum Berry because Lum Berry helps Dragonite to avoid annoying status like sleep and burn, it allows to avoid Breloom's Spore, bulky water-types' Scald, Jellicent and Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp and so on. Lum berry is useful to avoid the confusion from Outrage too. Finally, I suggest you to use Roost replacing Wish on Xatu because Wish without Protect isn't a very good move and thefore Roost is a more reliable move than Wish. As last thing, I think that physical defensive Xatu is better than special defensive Xatu because it in generally switch into Skarmory, Ferrothorn, Forretress and similiar stuff and a physical EV spread would help you a lot. A EV spread of 248 HP / 204 Def / 56 Spe with a Bold nature accordingly should work better than your current one, anyway this is optional so if you prefer your current Xatu's EV spread you can keep it but I suggest you to try the EV spread which I posted here.

Good luck.

PS: I didn't look that but use Spore > Substitute on Breloom. Spore is the best move that Breloom can use and there isn't reason to don't use you. Otherwise you don't need Sword Dance on Toxic Orb one.

The thing with not using Spore is, you have to rely on them switching in order for Focus Punch to connect. As soon as they see you use Substitute, they will attack and break your sub. I highly suggest Spore somewhere on your Breloom. It allows you to successfully pull off a Focus Punch.

Alright, i've pretty much made all the changes you've suggested, i've replaced thund-t with landorus and put roost over wish on xatu. I've changed the ev spread that you posted too. I replaced substitute on my breloom and put spore instead. Dragonites now got a lum berry and i've changed dragon claw to outrage. Thats about it. Thanks though guys:) Really appreciate it.

Another thing you should look into is a Rapid Spin user. Xatu and Dragonite take 2x Stealth Rock damage. I would suggest looking into Starmie or Donphan.

hi. this a pretty cool team. to help with your weakness to ice i would suggest Specially Defensive Rotom-W in place of thunderus t. he can effectively sponge up ice attacks aimed at 3 members of your team, while spreading paralysis which no current team member does, which allows your sweepers to have an easier time setting up. In this case, you need a revenge killer so i suggest Scarfed Keldeo over Mienshao, because you don't necessarily need a dedicated lead in OU. like Mienshao, Keldeo hits on both sides of the offensive spectrum because secret sword hits the opponent's defense, not special defense.
Here are the sets:

Rotom-W @ leftovers
calm nature
252 HP/ 28 Sp.atk/ 232 Sp.def
- Thunder Wave
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split

Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
timid Nature
4 HP/ 252 Sp.atk/ 252 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Surf
- Hidden Power Ice
- Secret Sword
