Broken Steel

So I've decided to go along with an all steel OU team and it's worked out pretty well so far - able to dish out damage and hold its own against potential stallers and walls. Anyway... here's the team

Metagross @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Atk / 12 Def / 8 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch
- Explosion

Always a reliable lead able to handle it's own against many others - as long as it sets up rocks I'll be happy. If there are potential threats to my team then I’ll just explode and switch into either my Jirachi or Scizor. Gross has some trouble against Swampert and Heatran leads in which case I’ll switch out to my Bronzong for immunity and late game damage. Fast taunt leads aren’t much of a problem as I can just Bullet Punch or switch.

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
- Trick

Oh Jirachi, how many undeserved KO's have you gotten from flinch hax and how many Salamences and Scizors have you destroyed? Serving as an all game revenge killer it functions extremely well since when I switch in, some people just don’t expect the scarfed Rachi mauling their frail sweeper.
I decided to run adamant nature, I spread put max EVs in Atk and Spe rest in HP. I feel that I need that extra damage on this set just in case the battle doesn’t go my way.

---

Magnezone @ Life Orb
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 84 HP / 88 Atk / 252 SpA / 84 Spe
Nature: Mild
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Magnet Rise
- Explosion

Standard Life Orb attacker but I run HP Ice for the BoltBeam combo. This Magnezone mainly functions as support for my team by using Magnet Rise. Though not necessary, it really helps and I usually Magnet Rise on something which isn’t a threat or is easy to set up on such as Blissey. Not only that, trapping choiced steel types which are giving me trouble is always an added bonus. Running Explosion on this Magnezone is standard but that doesn’t mean my opponent will expect it. A general strategy could be Magnet Rise and then explode right of the bat.

---

Bronzong @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Nature: Sassy
- Trick
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Explosion

Your standard TrickZong but with max attack EVs since I decided to run choice band - it would be silly not to maximize the damage as this set has can wreck through anything with choice banded STABed Gyro Ball. It has allowed me to cripple many things which think they can set up on me. Namely bulky waters such as Suicune. It’s also somewhat expendable if any previous threats have been eliminated as this Zong isn’t afraid to explode, but most of the time this Zong is send out there to stop an obvious Earthquake and Trick or attack.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit

The standard Choice Band Scizor set. Scouting for my team is a needed so that I can counter anything which is a threat. Upon using explosion from one of my Pokés I usually switch Scizor in and U-turn away or use Pursuit if my opponent decided to bring out something that could set up on me.

---

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Naive
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Dragon Pulse
- Explosion

Pretty much essential on a team like mine – what with all five others weak against fire. This is a major team player able to soak up any fire move, in which I can retaliate with my boosted Fire Blast or I can switch out again and save it for later in the game. As my only special attacker on my team I tend to try and save for mid and late game to counter anything which has poor special defence. Basically without Heatran this team will have a harder time when dealing with fire moves. In conjuction with my Scizor, I will scout out potential threats and be wary when sending Heatran out. It also functions mainly as the revenge killer Scarf Heatran is well known for.

Well that's my team I've been using for a while. Rate, comment and tear it to shreds!

Hey there Minart. I see that you are trying to use a mono Steel-type team, so I'll suggest ways to improve it without breaking the strategy.

My first suggestion is to replace Bronzong with Skarmory. I believe that Skarmory will make a great addition to your team in that it can set up multiple layers of Spikes which your team benefits from. A lot of your team is based around sweepers, such as Choice Band Scizor and Choice Scarf Jirachi and Heatran, so the Spikes support is crucial to gaining certain OHKOs and 2HKOs. I think you should run a Specially Defense Skarmory because your team lacks a Pokemon that can take some special attacks. It also helps you set up against Vaporeon and RestTalk Suicune who are difficult to handle on your team. Here's the set:

Skarmory @ Leftovers | Sturdy
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD | Impish
~Brave Bird
~Spikes
~Roost
~Whirlwind

I think you can try it out because I don't know what Bronzong is actually doing on your team aside from attempting to cripple something with Choice Band. You say that you are using him to absorb Earthquake, which Skarmory already does, and to avoid Trick users, which you already have Jirachi for (most of your team is Choiced anyway). Skarmory also helps you against Gyarados.

The next change would be Jirachi's nature. Try changing it to Jolly because that way, you can potentially revenge kill max Speed positive natured Salamence, who wrecks you by the way, Choice Scarf Flygon, and Agility Metagross, among others.

I'll wrap this up with one final fix. For Magnezone, I suggest you run Substitute in the place of Magnet Rise for a few reasons. First of all, it allows you to setup against Pokemon like Choice Scarf Jirachi's Iron Head and Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch, which helps you out when your opponent brings in their next Pokemon. Also, because Magnezone is so considerably slow, you may not have the time to use and abuse Magnet Rise. Finally, you have a chance at tricking an oblivious Blissey into thinking you don't run Explosion, which gives you a pretty big advantage when she comes in against you.

Hopefully I helped. Good luck with your team!

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will try out the Skarmory in place of the Magnezone.
The Bronzong is pretty bulky even with no EVs in defence (269) or special def (294) so it can a few hits and that extra ground immunity is plus so I'll probably just keep it in my team
