Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Toxic
- Psywave
Bronzong has managed to make a big splash in the RU tier thanks to amazing Special Defense and defensive typing, which allow it to check a plethora of attackers like Flygon, Shaymin, Cloyster, and Vanilluxe. The set is self explanatory except for Protect, which lets Bronzong scout for Choice-locked attacks from Pokemon like Moltres and take full advantage of Leftovers recovery. Other options include running Gyro Ball, a Sassy nature, and 0 Speed IVs, which help it more reliably check Pokemon like Vanilluxe and Gigalith. Gligar pairs well with Bronzong, as they have great synergy typing-wise and offer amazing utility like Stealth Rock and Defog together. Although it loses to metagame staples like Refresh Milotic and Mandibuzz, Pokemon that can handle Mandibuzz, like Mega Glalie, Virizion, and Mega Ampharos, are extremely useful, especially since the latter can check walls like Refresh Milotic as well. Bronzong’s main weaknesses include having no counterplay to Taunt and having lackluster recovery.
