Set Details
========
- Groudon uses its good physical bulk and strong attacks to spread damage through the whole of a game while being difficult to remove.
- High Horsepower is used as a stronger single target alternative to Precipice Blades, allowing Groudon to get around Wide Guard from Pokemon like Lunala. Crunch is used on Assault Vest sets to threaten Calyrex-S and Lunala for super effective damage.
- Clear Amulet blocks Intimidate from Incineroar, letting Groudon fire off attacks without having to worry about its damage being reduced. Assault Vest boosts Groudon's Special Defense, allowing it to survive Draco Meteor from Choice Specs Miraidon.
- The HP and Special Defense investment allows Groudon to survive Draco Meteor from Choice Specs Miraidon outside of Electric Terrain if it isn't running an Assault Vest or, if it is running an Assault Vest, survive Draco Meteor if Electric Terrain is active. The Speed investment lets Groudon outspeed Scarf Urshifu if Tailwind is active.
- Tera Fire lets Groudon resist the Ice- and Grass-type attacks that threaten it before it Terastallizes such as Glacial Lance from Calyrex-I and Wood Hammer from Rillaboom while boosting Heat Crash's damage.
Teambuilding
=========
- Groudon struggles into Kyogre because it can override Groudon's sun and threaten it with Water-type attacks. Groudon also struggles into Physically defensive foes that it cannot hit for super effective damage, such as Terastalized Calyrex-I and Lunala, as Groudon cannot do enough damage to them before being KO'd.
- Groudon pairs well with Pokemon with Protosynthesis like Raging Bolt and Flutter Mane as it allows them to run items other than Booster Energy.
- Restricted Pokemon that can threaten large amounts of damage, such as Miraidon and Calyrex-I, are good partners for Groudon as their additional damage helps into bulkier opponents. Miraidon also threatens Kyogre with a OHKO and can do good damage to Lunala and Calyrex-I.
