So after finding out that my girlfriend's Latios she caught in SS has max HP/Spa IVs (and TIMID?!), I've been thinking of various ways to use him (she owes me a good legendary). Yes, defogger in OU, maybe mega-evolve him in an ubers team once that gets all sorted out, but I've also been thinking about using him in a Doubles team with a Calm Mind set to put pressure on right out the gate. Draco Meteor and Psyshock, natch, but the last move I'm still deciding on (he has HP Rock, is that potentially useful?)
But then, there's the question of a partner. My mind turned to the Follow Me Pachirisu, but I prefer to think of my own ideas. So I go to the Follow Me listing and see Lucario as a learner.
Luke resists dark/ice/bug/dragon (all probable moves thrown at a Latios), and only has 1x damage from fairy/ghost. On top of that, Latios ignores ground, meaning Earthquakes would have to be thrown out solely to hit Luke.
The question is, how to build him? Justified means that it'll get a +1 Attack from any dark attacks aimed at Latios, so that's probably the best choice. 252 HP EVs, natch. However, do I want to concentrate what bulk he can get via Nature/EVs on one side, or try to spread it out? I honestly have no ideas what the most threatening overall pokemon are in Doubles. It SEEMS as though I'd want to go Defense (Impish, 252 EVs), because a lot of attacks aimed at both Luke and Latios would probably be physical, but I don't know for sure.
Also, what item? Sitrus Berry seems like a solid notion, to possibly extend his lifespan to a second turn, but possibly a pro-Ground Berry might be good too - or maybe the Leichi Berry and hope for at least one Dark-type attack to boost him up to a +2 Extremespeed and try to weaken something turn 2. Focus Sash doesn't seem like a good choice, as he'll be taking two hits (barring a Fake Out aimed at Latios). Leftovers is better left to something with real bulk. Lucarionite is a possibility, as 177 HP 154 Defense (at max) is going from 'hope for a second turn' to 'actually take a few resisted hits' territory - but what's Mega Lucario's position in Doubles?
Moveset would be Follow Me/Extremespeed then... I dunno, Heal Pulse? Toxic? Protect? Close Combat? All possible moves.
So, yes. I have more than a vague notion (though what my other two pokes are gonna be is up in the air!), and while I know it's a weird and almost gimmicky way to use Lucario I think it's potentially workable and even very tricksy.
Any suggestions? Togekiss is, I know, the standard Follow Me, but Latios shares a weakness to Ice - with only 4 pokes I'd prefer if they could avoid shared weaknesses.
